Bireli Lagrene Solo Guitar Magic - Gypsy Jazz Guitar Secrets Lesson
Bireli Lagrene is by far my favorite guitarist. Head and shoulders above the rest, he is considered the greatest and simply referred to by other guitarists as “The Boss”.
A true genius and virtuoso some of his licks can seem intimidating and literally ‘Unplayable’.....BUT today I’ve got a little piece of his fretboard magic which I think you’re going to love.
It’s something you could use as part of a solo piece or as an intro to create a beautiful vibe.
There are 5 chords you need to learn which are connected by little fragments of melody.
    Dmaj7
    D+5
    Bm7
    Em7
    A7 sus
Watch the video to get these chord shapes under your fingers.
To add the magic you need to connect each chord with a little melody.
The key to getting this sounding beautiful is to TAKE YOUR TIME

It was your videos that prompted me to look Bireli up.. what a joy to behold he is! I must play Gypsy Project at least 5 times a week. Every solo is virtually singable and his jazz work is so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for pointing us to great music to enrich our lives Robin. 😊

Never thought I'd be able to play something so pretty. Might be a nice embellishment in Danse Norvegienne!

Fantastic song and a great lesson. This type of solo guitar playing reminds me a little bit of John McLaughlin. Bireli is the king!

Thank you for your inspired and tireless work, Robin. Your teaching method is the best, because not only are you a fabulous guitarist, you also ooze enthusiasm and passion, and it's extremely contagious. Btw, I learned both parts of Bireli solo guitar, and I've stitched them together. But I play part 2 first, then dive into part 1, then back to part 2. And it all hangs together beautifully!
Do you think I'm doing it in the wrong order? To my ears, it all sounds marvellous!

Alex Bunardzic wonderful that must sound great Alex!

I apologize for messing up the order you presented these solo pieces, but to my ears playing part 2 first and then following through with part 1 just sounds so... dreamy, rich, lush. Anyway, incredible musicality in these chords and melodies, Bireli is just unbelievable!

Beautiful Chord progression! Especially the Em9 is beautiful. I also played it on an electric guitar with little use of a tremelo pedal. If you've got the oppertunity, please try. I also have a small suggestion: instead of the last chord, try a Gdim/A
