Why I Have To Wear My Braces For Longer :( | 4 Month Update

- Please tell me I'm not the only one that heard a ghost in my house??? So basically my back molars aren't in the right position, so I had to get braces put on my very back teeth. This means that I can't move forward with my new wires until my back teeth have been sorted, which is going to take a minimum of 2 months :(

i had my braces when i was 11 but i neglected it and the treatment wasn't completed. and finally now when I'm 26 I'm gettig my braces yet again ad they say i have to do it for 18 or 24 months . So, kids if you're getting braces be grateful, visit your doctor regularly and complete your treatment before adulthood :)

I flat out refused to get braces as a kid when my mum wanted me to. Just got em last Saturday. I'm 31 now, should've listened to my mum. 😕
Same! Now my teeth are even worse and the treatment is gonna take longer than it would have been if I had just said yes to my mom :(

Emma I've had braces for maybe half a year and I get what ur going through but honestly I believe that it will be worth it in the end for u bc u have such a beautiful smile even with braces on😁😁

I'm from Sydney, Australia and can totally relate to this video update on so many levels! I've got the exact Damon braces as you and few months ago I had to also put brackets on my bottom 2 wisdom teeth which originally did not have brackets - due to their position being "raised up" compared to my other teeth with brackets which were lower in position - no words can describe the amount of food (esp. rice!), nuisance, poking into cheeks/gums esp. as mine also have random hooks on them to eventually hook up a power chain to the very back! I've watched many braces vlogs and yours is the first one I've come across with the same situation as me!
Hopefully its all worth it in the end! I also had to make up for lost time in my treatment - originally was told 18 months, we are going onto just over 2 years now.. but i always knew to add on an extra 6 months at least to what is quoted to you with unexpected broken brackets, set backs etc!

I have to wear mine longer. The root of one of my teeth is crooked so I'm taking a break from my treatment (powerchains and bands) to fix the problem. btw, IT HURTS SO BAD

Omg I love your channel and I just found it right now! Haha. I got braces in December last year because of my overbite and a scissor bite that I have on my left which is pretty bad because I can't bite at all on the left side of my mouth. You're lucky that you can get the scissor bite corrected quickly as mine will take a very long time to correct! Keep up with your videos they're great 😊
Just went to the ortho yesterday and had a check up, turns out my teeth aren't moving as quickly as he hoped, i hate scissor bites omgggg
Scissors bite is the term used to describe the condition when the upper molars are positioned outward, or the lower molars are positioned inward so that the molars miss each other and overlap when the mouth is closed.
hi emma! it sucks that you have to go through all this :( I also have to wear braces for longer because my back teeth are rotated >< hang in there! I believe that it will be worth it in the end ^^

My first braces (Only top and I was 20-21 when I had them) I got off 3 months early. HOWEVER, now at 33 I am about to embark on braces round 2 both top AND bottom. Treatment time of 18-24 months. So I KIND of feel what you're going through because I didn't expect to be getting them again! 😖

I have the same thing where my back molers stick out like that! I only had my braces for less than a month. I'm supposed to have them on for 2 years but I think I'm going to have an extra 2 months as well ! 😣
When I first got my braces they didn't put brackets on the very back molars until almost a year in and the ones on the top are super annoying cause the bone is so close and it rubs!!

The different wire colors and sizes help pull your teeth different ways just like thicker wires help pull your teeth faster and honestly are waaay more tight and painful

A scissor bite is where you bite and either a top tooth is leant backwards or bottom leant forwards which affects the bite 👍🏻I have this and I’m getting braces in three weeks !!

Ah ha I found what a scissor bite is hahah: A scissor bite involves outward positioning of the upper posterior teeth and inward positioning of the lower posterior teeth. The reason for this happening is an expanded upper arch and constricted lower arch

My treatment will take longer also. I got brackets on the top and bottom and then only the wire on the bottom because I was going to get an expander on Tuesday but storm Stella moved it until it stopped snowing🙄 but at least I got a week off of school!

i got my braces two days ago and there are little metal round things on my top back molars which are scratching and ripping at my inner cheeks, causing an unbearable stinging sensation. the wax isn’t helping because the metal just pokes through. does anyone know what i could do?

and before my braces i had some painful extractions in which i lost 7 teeth. so guess what at the age of 23 i still had baby teeth plus my wisdom teeth were lost in the gum it was all a complicated situation for me

It's ok girl I feel you! Basically, there is something wrong with the teeth next to my front teeth, and it hasn't come down for 3 years, so I have to get surgery on it to pull it down. I've had braces for about 7 months and basically until the teeth come down, it's like I haven't even gotten braces yet... Lol idk if that makes sense

i did heard the noise..maybe if the house is new the wood could yet be adapting to damp or heat and expand etc.. also ill have braces on the 24th and am hoping that all goes well or ill probably suspect they are doing it on purpose for me to keep going for cash lol .. love the videos and as soon as i was notified i clicked like even before seeing it lol. thank you.. will ask my dentist about gold wires as to why..maybe durability? was told white wires have less pressure than silver wires on the teeth.. all the best xxxxxxxx

Emma i just had braces yesterday( top clear ceramic white wire, then next month ill do bottom). ouch,im on porridge and wattery soups haha. I asked about the gold wire , if it had any special reason to be chosen like strength or something and my dentist(uk) said its just for cosmetic nothing else. hope it helps :) xxxxxxxx

I'm getting my braces tighten for the first time this Monday and I'm a little scared. My teeth hurt so much the entire first week when I got them and my front top teeth stopped being sensitive only about a week and a half ago. I'm barely being able to eat properly :( The main reason why I got braces was because I have an overbite and two of my teeth in the bottom are not aligned with the rest so hopefully that doesn't take long to get fixed :/ btw, I started watching your videos 3 days before I got my braces! I have braces at the very last tooth from the beginning on because they are upper than my other teeth so the braces pull them down 🙊
And I have them on since 3 weeks so I am at the beginning at my braces journey 🙄😕
I want to get them off as fast as possible but that takes a year I think so 😕

Please reply... Do you have to pay more money every two weeks to get your braces tightened ? And also does your orthodontist tell you that you need the tightening or do you choose to get them tightened ? And I love u Soooo much!! 😘
My dentist told me yes you have to pay every time to get them tightened that's one reason why he told me to get clear ones. they are cheaper in the longrun. And you have to get them more tightened each time or else your teeth wont move at all.

Hi Emma, Just a braces update. I got my bottom braces on today they're just starting to get sore now. I hate to think how they'll be tomorrow. I also got a gold wire on the top with the loops in it. Did your gold wire fade? I had some bumpers put on my molars as well to keep my bite open and help protect my teeth because I've been grinding at night.
Ooo exciting! Think of the pain as a good thing, it means your teeth are moving! :) I went back to the ortho 2 days ago and I also got the gold wires with loops put on my braces again and this time its top and bottom 😭 They do gradually fade over time, usually it takes about 2 weeks so I'm hoping it happens again with these ones because they're super visible since they're on the top too. Have the loops on your wire been rubbing on your gums/ lips? Bc mine have and its so sore! All the best :)
Hi Emma, Yes one of the loops is rubbing so popped some wax on it. I'll also have to go back because one of the wires need trimming it's cutting my cheek! going to be getting through the wax! When do you start the Suresmile wires?
I put some wax on them last night and it feels so much better, thanks for the tip! Yess definitely go back if your wires cutting! If you can, try bending the wire at the back upwards just so its not directly sitting on your gums it helps a little bit until you can able to go back to the ortho! At my appointment last week they redid my suresmile scan because my bite has changed since having my back molars moved, so I think I'll be getting a new set of wires that's different to my previous ones that were made. My next appointment is in 8 weeks, but he's making me do a thing on my phone called dental monitoring, where I have to take a few pictures of my teeth every week and he monitors it online instead of me having to go in. My back molar seems to have come down a lot, so I'm hoping the next appointment will be getting my new wires. Fingers crossedddd!
I haven't had any suresmile scans yet. Hope you get your new wires :) My next appointment is in 8 weeks as well.

A scissor bite is when your molars are not touching each other. Kinda like an over/under bite but on your molars if that makes sense lol
