I got braces yesterday and it isnt that uncomfortable but it feels weird. But, I can not eat properly right now cause the soreness is extreme and it hurts. But overall, I am living.
A good thing about braces when you first get them is that you’ll smile in the mirror at least 20 times more than normal trying to see what they look like! Even if it’s not a happy smile lol
29 c yes but do it slowly because ur mouth takes a bit to adjust so the wires or brackets might scrape the inside of ur lip when you close ur mouth after smiling/eating. It happens throughout the whole thing especially at the start so just be gentle and put wax if it’s starting to bug you.
With the kissing with braces, some people can't. I knew these two people who made out at a disco and their braces got stuck together, and both of their parents had to come and bring them to the hospital to get them separated

i've had mine on for a month and my confidence has went UPPPP and its actually surprising of how i feel that way because i usually dont have confidence. That time has also gone super quick and you are completely right about wax being a life saver!

I just got my braces yesterday.-. And it’s not that bad till you wake up in the middle of the night and hit your tooth and scream for a pain killer. Don’t be afraid of taking a pain killer.

i've had braces for over 3 years (getting them off in January) I didn't really have a choice about getting them because I needed them to open a gap in my mouth for a tooth to come up(yeah had to get oral surgery since it didn't come up..) but honestly they aren't bad! yeah your mouth might hurt some when you go to appointments but in the end you will have a beautiful smile and it's worth it. if you do get them to though I would recommend looking reviews for the orthodonist you go to though(on yelp or something) cause my mom looked in September and apparently the orthodonist I go to does some cheap stuff... also I can totally understand being insecure about your teeth I was the same way!! also if you do get braces I recommend getting a waterflosser!! they are great but depending on which you get the handle may break but some have warranties and you can get new handles for free :)

You should be scared- NAH, jk. Braces are awesome! They straighten your teeth really quick. If you get a paletal expander you have to re-learn how to eat, but otherwise, it's a breeze

I have braces for one year, I suggest u not to pick yellow, white, clear and brown colour. Colours I suggest: Blue(Light or Dark), Purple, Black for sure!!
I've wanted braces since I was like 15 but couldn't afford them, im 23 now and I got my braces on today im so happy, but definitely feeling my age 😅 some friends haven't been that supportive but it'll be worth it hopefully 😊

@@swagata_mazumder_00 I still have another like 9months to go, but I've definitely noticed some change, I had alot of crouding and because of that my jaw kinda sat more to one side 😅 not very noticeable to anyone but me, but that's kinda fixed itself up now after a year, I have spacers in atm which stop my back teeth from touching and I feel that kinda changes my face too, but they should be out soon 😄👍
1: they 2: hurt 3: like 4:a 5:butt cheek 6: on a 7: stick Edit: i’ve had braces for a few months and they only hurt a few days after the tightening or when they are first applied. i recommend trying to take pain medication prior tightening/application to make the pain less painful and try to sleep after. It’s extremely frustrating to try and eat and even drink sometimes so i recommend eating something that you can mush in the roof of your mouth like mashed potato or soup that isn’t too hot. when drinking, use a straw because you might not be used to your brackets being there and may accidentally knock your teeth and it’s extremely painful. But after the pain and sensitive gums (1 to 2 weeks ) you can basically eat anything you want like steak, snacks, candy (even though it’s not recommend ) you can eat. in fact you do forget they are there most of the time. not that long ago my bracket fell off due to a roll that i had. so try to be careful of hard breads as well. i hope this advise helps anyone getting braces. it’s not all great to begin with but i’m being honest. Update: It’s been 3 years and i still have them on 😂
Isobelfoxi just give them time and it shouldn’t hurt, if they hurt after two weeks i recommend telling your mother or going back to the dentist and ask them. it’s not normal
7:53 Sooo yes they all do the same, but here's my experience with self ligating brackets: 1. Literally nothing got stuck between my braces 2. I didn't have any pain the whole time, even though I'm really sensitive 3. Appointments are really really short But I was sad that I couldn't get the coloured rubber bands 😕
@@leahawiti4870 they hurt about 1 to 2 week's and after then they don't hurt much. The only problem is that you cannot eat some hard food's and every time that you go to the orthodontist for visit they will hurt for some day's☺
I got mine put on today it rlly doesn’t hurt lol. edit: I take that back it rlly hurts now, especially the cement thing to stop me from biting deep. I’m basically living off soup, pasta, noodles and mash potato. edit: don’t hurt anymore :) edit: been a while since i’ve edited this, but the pain will come and go the whole time you have the braces and soon the pain will feel normal and you’ll get used to it.
Azaan Merchant, it’s my third day now, I’m having pain killers and paracetamol too. It still really hurts, the only thing I can eat is soup, mash potato, and porridge, I’m glad to know that I’m not going through this alone.

I had my impressions then on the second appointment they confirm the treatment plan that you are going to have (decide the braces you are getting). Then on the third appointment I had my braces on
Grace Elliott I got my xrays and that stuff on the 3rd of April and I’m getting them on the 1st may if that helps at all, but I’m getting mine on the NHS (means they are paid for by the health service) so it might be shorter for you

I always wanted braces when i was a teenager but i didn't feel good asking my parents to get them for me bc they were expensive and they would strogle with money. Am 26 now its been 2 weeks i got my clear braces that i paid cash 😁 i hate them but i hope it gets better lol
For anyone scared of getting braces is painful, I was exactly where you are like a year ago and from my experience, putting the actual brackets on weren’t painful at all. The most you’ll feel is pressure but not pain. Like if you were to push on your teeth a bit, but not enough so that it hurts. What WAS painful was after. It was very very sore so make sure you take painkillers and eat only soft foods for at least a Few days. The painfulness wen away after a few days but the soreness didn’t completely go away for a few weeks. Every now and the. You’ll have some random sore teeth that’s normal. Something that really helped me was platypus flossers and water flosser! These flossers are wayyy faster than traditional braces floss!’ After a year my teeth are now straight! I used to hate smiling but now I love it (:
Hello. I’m getting braces for the second time tomorrow. My first one was unsuccessful in 2013. I wore it for a year, but due to my breathing problems, my teeth recurved. Since I have a previous braces experience, I’m not that nervous. I’m just anxious that it may curve again. (I fixed the breathing problem) I hope it goes well. 15 months to go! ❤️ Good luck to anyone who wears or is planning to wear braces. We will get through it 🤗

ellielucy747 The pain will depend on how bad your teeth are. My teeth were generally already straight for the most part, so when I got them on, I had little aching, so it really wasn’t that bad. Regardless, you’ll definitely get over the discomfort within a week or two, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it if your teeth aren’t majorly crooked. :)
Mad Hatter aww it’s okay :( tightenings suck but it helps if you think of it as just getting closer to your end result!! i actually look forward to my tightenings because i’m able to talk to my orthodontist about how long i have left and how my teeth are going to change in the next month or so :))

@@cassio9051 How do you mean stuck? You should stick it to the part of the brace where it sticks out and hurts your mouth. If you have a problem with it going everywhere, try using smaller amount of it and don't press it super hard so that it doesn't thin out and spread out too much. Hope that helps! xx
Really important one and one i wish i had paid attention to. Wear your retainer as much as possible for a few months after you get your braces off. When i got my retainer i was like ''f*ck this i sound like an absolute nerd'' and refused to wear them. And over time my teeth went back to their original position.
It’s been 2months,I got my braces tightened and I got a power chain,one word....PAINNNNNN.I can’t chew anything much,just really really soft foods,my teeth are sensitive,and it’s just hella painfulllll😭😭😭
ugh Ive had braces for 4 months and I literally forget I have them which is really cool! Two things that suck: Tightening your braces hurts soooooo incredibly badly. Your teeth become immediately sore and its really annoying. But it doesnt happen often so that is good! Another thing that sucks, when you first get them on... sometimes the brace makes a gash/hole in your mouth and creates a sore. Things that help: A TON OF WAX. literally saves your life. Pain meds, orajel which numbs gums as well after a tightening, and powdered aspirin you can put it directly on any sores that are in your mouth. Good luck on your braces journey. i hope someone actually reads this. its midnight and i have finals tomorrow and i am exhausted so i hope this comment goes to good use lol UPDATE: It has now been seven months... Braces are really not that bad anymore! Again, I forget I have them until I look in a mirror. The only thing that hurts anymore if getting on newer or thicker wires because they tighten your teeth and make them really sore. I have 9 months left!!! ahhh :/ hahaha
rosemary whisenant yes it will actually, if you don't brush your teeth well, when you take them off, there will be stains on your teeth! And it can cause decaying teeth because of the plaque that gets stuck between the bracket and gums. So yes, BRUSHING IS IMPORTANT

i've had braces for over 3 years (getting them off in January) I didn't really have a choice about getting them because I needed them to open a gap in my mouth for a tooth to come up(yeah had to get oral surgery since it didn't come up..) but honestly they aren't bad! yeah your mouth might hurt some when you go to appointments but in the end you will have a beautiful smile and it's worth it. if you do get them to though I would recommend looking reviews for the orthodonist you go to though(on yelp or something) cause my mom looked in September and apparently the orthodonist I go to does some cheap stuff... also I can totally understand being insecure about your teeth I was the same way!! also if you do get braces I recommend getting a waterflosser!! they are great but depending on which you get the handle may break but some have warranties and you can get new handles for free :)

Braces are awesome! They straighten your teeth really quick. If you get a paletal expander you have to re-learn how to eat, but otherwise, it's a breeze

Edit: i’ve had braces for a few months and they only hurt a few days after the tightening or when they are first applied. i recommend trying to take pain medication prior tightening/application to make the pain less painful and try to sleep after.
It’s extremely frustrating to try and eat and even drink sometimes so i recommend eating something that you can mush in the roof of your mouth like mashed potato or soup that isn’t too hot. when drinking, use a straw because you might not be used to your brackets being there and may accidentally knock your teeth and it’s extremely painful.
But after the pain and sensitive gums (1 to 2 weeks ) you can basically eat anything you want like steak, snacks, candy (even though it’s not recommend ) you can eat. in fact you do forget they are there most of the time. not that long ago my bracket fell off due to a roll that i had. so try to be careful of hard breads as well.
i hope this advise helps anyone getting braces. it’s not all great to begin with but i’m being honest.
Update: It’s been 3 years and i still have them on 😂

1. Literally nothing got stuck between my braces
2. I didn't have any pain the whole time, even though I'm really sensitive
3. Appointments are really really short
But I was sad that I couldn't get the coloured rubber bands 😕

For anyone scared of getting braces is painful, I was exactly where you are like a year ago and from my experience, putting the actual brackets on weren’t painful at all. The most you’ll feel is pressure but not pain. Like if you were to push on your teeth a bit, but not enough so that it hurts. What WAS painful was after. It was very very sore so make sure you take painkillers and eat only soft foods for at least a Few days. The painfulness wen away after a few days but the soreness didn’t completely go away for a few weeks. Every now and the. You’ll have some random sore teeth that’s normal.
Something that really helped me was platypus flossers and water flosser! These flossers are wayyy faster than traditional braces floss!’
After a year my teeth are now straight! I used to hate smiling but now I love it (:

ellielucy747 The pain will depend on how bad your teeth are. My teeth were generally already straight for the most part, so when I got them on, I had little aching, so it really wasn’t that bad. Regardless, you’ll definitely get over the discomfort within a week or two, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it if your teeth aren’t majorly crooked. :)

@@cassio9051 How do you mean stuck? You should stick it to the part of the brace where it sticks out and hurts your mouth. If you have a problem with it going everywhere, try using smaller amount of it and don't press it super hard so that it doesn't thin out and spread out too much. Hope that helps! xx

Really important one and one i wish i had paid attention to. Wear your retainer as much as possible for a few months after you get your braces off. When i got my retainer i was like ''f*ck this i sound like an absolute nerd'' and refused to wear them. And over time my teeth went back to their original position.

ugh Ive had braces for 4 months and I literally forget I have them which is really cool! Two things that suck: Tightening your braces hurts soooooo incredibly badly. Your teeth become immediately sore and its really annoying. But it doesnt happen often so that is good! Another thing that sucks, when you first get them on... sometimes the brace makes a gash/hole in your mouth and creates a sore. Things that help: A TON OF WAX. literally saves your life. Pain meds, orajel which numbs gums as well after a tightening, and powdered aspirin you can put it directly on any sores that are in your mouth. Good luck on your braces journey. i hope someone actually reads this. its midnight and i have finals tomorrow and i am exhausted so i hope this comment goes to good use lol
UPDATE: It has now been seven months... Braces are really not that bad anymore! Again, I forget I have them until I look in a mirror. The only thing that hurts anymore if getting on newer or thicker wires because they tighten your teeth and make them really sore. I have 9 months left!!! ahhh :/ hahaha

rosemary whisenant yes it will actually, if you don't brush your teeth well, when you take them off, there will be stains on your teeth! And it can cause decaying teeth because of the plaque that gets stuck between the bracket and gums. So yes, BRUSHING IS IMPORTANT
If you get lazy with brushing while having braces, you will be met with very yellow teeth when you take them off.
I'm warning you from experience.
I use two toothbrushes 🤣🤣
