- LiDAR imaging revealed a row of cellar holes that WEREN'T on any of the maps I had seen, so we investigated. Not only did we find the cellar holes, but a HUGE number of cutting tools! 17 cutting blades in all...plus a miner's pick!
That was a great show! Axe me why I liked it? That 6 or 8 inch rusted ring, looks like a stove pipe flange? Good finds buddy! Rk.
By Jove, I think you’re right!
I’m glad I AXED for advice! Thanks Richard!
Nice hunt 👍👍❤️
Thanks Granville👍 it was fun…and a good workout getting back to the car!!!
That huge link you found i believe is a hitching link to connect train cars
It's interesting if someone else had been detecting there, that they missed all those axe heads. Unless they had blocked out iron. You did good on their loss. Also, there must have been a RR nearby, which is why you found that link. If you can find the grade, you may find a pin, then you would have a complete link and pin coupler. You gotta invest in a back pack. It makes carrying heavy iron a lot easier.
The RR is now the road, and there were spurs to the mine.
The amount of iron nails and scrap is overwhelming…so I don’t blame others for blocking ferrous targets at all. It WAS a little strange not to find a single coin all day? I’ve been told that many seated silvers came out of that town…40 years ago! They might have missed one or two…so I’ll keep snooping around.
Next week's video; another small mine, about 5 miles away…
I would Restore the axe heads. I use to use 1 back in the 70's all day, Me and my Brothers would spit wood all day long, for 2 months till we had at lease 8-10 cord or better for winter,
I’ll bet I’ve got 35 of them in my barn by now! They’re so pitted by rust, it’d be pretty tough to get them shiny again without making the shoulder too thin to hold a handle. They’d look cool on a wall though!
The Larkin Company in Buffalo, NY was a soap company. Opened in 1875.They also did lotions, were sold to small stores and then one of the first to send catalogs out to people. Cut out the sales people and sent their products all over the US.
Thanks Kathleen! I’ve found Larkin Co. Larkin soap Company, and Larkin Perfumers.
The factory was HUGE…at least by 1914(I think I saw a photo of it)
can you tell me we’re this ghost town I want to try metal deting ther
