How is "Return of the Living Dead" not here? It broke the rules extensively. The zombies are clever, fast (unless decomposition or injury prohibits it), and most importantly, immortal. No amount of cranial damage puts them down. Even dismembered, the limbs move about on their own. Also, they're not hungry. They're in agony and only by eating brains can they know a moment of respite.
I do not disagree with you, though I would not take away any listed so either an 11 list, or honourable mentions somewhere. Little Monsters, frankly, seemed like it could have been honourably mentioned really if you needed to make a slot...
I think this list us pointing out the first movies to introduce certain elements and everything about the movie you mentioned was done prior. Don't think they are taking anything away from the film, they just weren't the first.
Another movie that broke rules is Maggie (2015). It differed by not only being a drama focused on one zombie near the beginning of an outbreak, but by featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a loving dad rather than an action hero spouting silly one-liners.
I'm always pleased when Pontypool gets some love. It's one of those movies that's always stuck with me in the back of my mind. And being set in Canada is always a plus. Honourable mentions to Cooties as well.
I saw Zom-100 on Netflix and I loved it. Another Japanese zombie movie. I saw the live action, not the anime. Of course, the humans are worse than the zombies... No spoilers from me other than it's about a guy who is overworked and uses this to start a bucket list.
I genuinely admire the decision the Rec team made to make the prequel a ZomCom. A bold choice I think a lot of directors would shy away from if they took themselves too seriously.
I was not expecting 'It Stains the Sands Red' to be as good as it was. I thought it was going to be more of a comedy then anything but glad I was wrong.
@Bluesit32 and a "if you know you know" reference to Nazi crematoria afficiando Ernst "Ernie" Kaltenbrunner...And Tar Man, simultaneously the scariest and funniest zombie ever!
King Of The Zombies is on my channel. Mantan Moreland is hilarious. He was also in Spider Baby and the Charlie Chan movies, and a couple Stooges shorts. He came close to being a replacement Stooge, but he got a better offer.
If you like Warm Bodies (which really surprised me, especially since I was expecting zombie Twilight) then I have a serious treat for you: The BBC series In the Flesh..
Though it's a miniseries and not a movie, "All of Us Are Dead" (Korea) has creatures called halfbies; people that are bitten, but do not become full zombies, they retain much of their human quality The series is not great, but it's a clever idea
I think I remembered All of Us are Dead as a movie because I absolutely bingewatched the entire thing. And do you know what? I'd do it again! (I've an absolutely terrible memory for the titles of things I've seen and would like to watch again, so thanks for that by the way! 👍)
6:36 "With a stellar supporting cast including John C. Reilly, Cheryl Hines, and Anna Kendrick..." This line while you plaster Molly Shannon all over the screen and refuse to mention her.
Was going to say, "what about Return of the Living Dead" then I realized the title mentioned "genius movies" Return was a good, fun, dumb romp, but genius isn't what I'd call it.
Not a movie, but the anthology show Fear Itself had an interesting take on zombies. Rather than spoil it for you, CZcams has the episode - czcams.com/video/U7-8KGuiDYU/video.html
More breakdowns on cults and dodgy satan worship please 👍👍. I must be in the minority as a horror fan but for me the zombie thing has been done to death 😂 got reanimated and shot again in the head 😂

I don't know what the list makers were thinking....
You're not wrong.

Loved it.

Not sure if Cooties breaks any rules so much as imposes a new one; that only children can become zombies.
Fido was an interesting take on the zombie menace.
Hell yes!
Fido was fantastic.
You can put “Cooties” in the same list as “Little Monsters”. So good
Technically u right tho
you do know romero's zombies didn't eat brains right? In fact he hated that so many people tied that to him.
I mean, they did eat brains...along with everything else.
Yeah that started in return I think
@@patrickkirkham correct. It was returned of the living dead.
I guess this is movies only, but it's a shame you couldn't spread the word about 2 fantastic BBC zombie series: In the Flesh and Dead Set
No doubt my favorite zomedy is Shaun of the Dead
Love this movie
I saw Zom-100 on Netflix and I loved it. Another Japanese zombie movie. I saw the live action, not the anime. Of course, the humans are worse than the zombies... No spoilers from me other than it's about a guy who is overworked and uses this to start a bucket list.
Rec series.
Anna and the apocalypse
Warm bodies
Anna and the Apocalypse is seriously underrated
I genuinely admire the decision the Rec team made to make the prequel a ZomCom. A bold choice I think a lot of directors would shy away from if they took themselves too seriously.
The Battery is up there as one of my favourite Zombie movies
I was not expecting 'It Stains the Sands Red' to be as good as it was. I thought it was going to be more of a comedy then anything but glad I was wrong.
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD WILL NEVER BE BEATEN AS THE KING OF ZOMCOM’s 🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟
Send... more... paramedics... 🧟🚑🧟🏚🌧
No, not even by Shaun of the Dead...
@@daniellewillis2767 Because Return of the Living Dead also manages to have some pretty scary zombies.
@Bluesit32 and a "if you know you know" reference to Nazi crematoria afficiando Ernst "Ernie" Kaltenbrunner...And Tar Man, simultaneously the scariest and funniest zombie ever!
What about Zombie Honeymoon? That was a pretty unusual Zombie movie.
King Of The Zombies is on my channel. Mantan Moreland is hilarious. He was also in Spider Baby and the Charlie Chan movies, and a couple Stooges shorts. He came close to being a replacement Stooge, but he got a better offer.
Also White Zombie and Night Of The Living Dead.
Why isn't "Warm Bodies" on the list?🤷🏼♂️
A Zombie that's in love with a human with Beauty & the Beast type of story is kinda original.
If you like Warm Bodies (which really surprised me, especially since I was expecting zombie Twilight) then I have a serious treat for you: The BBC series In the Flesh..
One Cut of the Dead is GOAT
Though it's a miniseries and not a movie, "All of Us Are Dead" (Korea) has creatures called halfbies; people that are bitten, but do not become full zombies, they retain much of their human quality The series is not great, but it's a clever idea

1:22 the worst possible combo of words and visual
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that 😅
Pontypool has a brilliant idea. The characters had to literally reinvent the English language in order to survive. Very original.
Warm bodies is my favorite "zombie" movie next to shawn of the dead.
Pontypool was a good film. One of my favorite in the zombie genre
I think Shed of the Dead & Cooties should be on a list somewhere.
Its an alright list but what about Mimesis, ROTD, Fido and some others i cant think of right now.
The fact that Aaah Zombies was not in this list is a shame....
Seriously you guys need to check out Patient Zero. I love it. Granted it's a mutated rabies virus but still worth talking about.
Or how about 2008's Flick?
Fido was great, Billy was excellent
What about
Wasting Away aka Aaah Zombies
A zombie movie from a zombie perspective ( kinda)
Shaun of the Dead is the best zomedy
No "Fido"? Pretty sure that predates "Colin".
Sad you didn’t mention the movie Otto
Undead from 2003 breaks some rules, too.
In “Life After Beth” that’s Molly Shannon, not Sheryl Hines (Don’t know how her name is spelled). Should as least give credit where credit is due.
They're coming to get you Barbara
I don't understand why Fido wasnt on the list.
How is Warm Bodies not here?? Zombies that can be cured with love, hello?
The plot twist for Unhuman made me so 🤬
Great list of zombie movies life after Beth is my favorite on this list
🥉
Unhuman has an almost decent concept, but made no sense in its execution.
Favorite zombie comedy? Zombieland, obv.
Wasn’t cooties doing kid zombies first
Shawn of The Dead?
Return of the Living Dead?
Omfg
Hard to believe no mention
28 Days????
What rules did Shaun of the Living Dead break?
28 Days is a Sandra Bullock film about an alcoholic. 😉
6:36 "With a stellar supporting cast including John C. Reilly, Cheryl Hines, and Anna Kendrick..."
This line while you plaster Molly Shannon all over the screen and refuse to mention her.
The best zomedy has to be Zombieland. That movie is awesome. Followed by Shaun of the dead .
If every movie "broke all the rules" then there are no rules.
Was going to say, "what about Return of the Living Dead" then I realized the title mentioned "genius movies" Return was a good, fun, dumb romp, but genius isn't what I'd call it.
Not genius? An outrageous assertion.
@@Bluesit32 I will see myself out. I promise to do better
Reincarnated ≠ reanimated 😂
Gareth's narration makes this pretty much unwatchable. Might be a good list, but I couldn't make it through. Or should I say "through-uh"?
Not a movie, but the anthology show Fear Itself had an interesting take on zombies. Rather than spoil it for you, CZcams has the episode - czcams.com/video/U7-8KGuiDYU/video.html
What about The Girl With All The Gifts????
The original Last of Us.
With one zombie, why doesn't she kill it?
I didn't like Little Monsters. I found it to be a slight rip-off of another child-zombie film called Cooties. 🤔🤔
Not really. Only the kids become zombies in Cooties. ...and it started via bad chicken nuggets.
The are ghouls not zombies
Man the first movie looks like it had black slaves and y'all said spooks 😮 smh. I know y'all don't understand, but look up spooks and racial issues.
y'all should to a video of "10 Videos we Featured One Cut of the Dead In"
might have to go for 20.
More breakdowns on cults and dodgy satan worship please 👍👍. I must be in the minority as a horror fan but for me the zombie thing has been done to death 😂 got reanimated and shot again in the head 😂
Like all these except unalive, that one sucks.

All these movies were terrible except NOTLD and Pontypool.
