    Nice work. I live in the dirt world too. Everyone needs drainage even if the glory goes to all the other parts of the job!

    They send a surveyor and private inspector to make sure all the manholes and pipes are laid correctly? Is this in Harris County or the City of Houston?

    Rough total job cost on something like this? Building a house and we have a drainage easement and I would like to route it like this.

      This is more so community storm water drainage that would run below the road.
      For doing it at home you can use far less expensive systems.
      These are also referred to as gully systems and for your home you use maybe 4” piping. You can also put channel drains if you have areas where overland water sheets during rain. Gully is more for areas where the ground has been graded toward.
      If you’re looking for a system suitable for your situation contact a landscaping supply company their sales department will set you up with what you need to properly drain your site.

    can you use spray foam to seal around the pipe to the manhole

      No, sir, must use a non-shrink concrete/grout.

      @@thomasconstructiontexas @Thomas Construction Texas thanks for responding and I knew that for sure but I worked with a company insisting it was ok to use that foam. I always wedge some brick in there and used a non shrink grout or concrete like u said. Just wanted to clarify my way of doing it. Thank u

    Oh man just found out they want metal corrugated pipe 24”. What’s the difference in the long run between hdpe and metal?

    • @thomasconstructiontexas
      @thomasconstructiontexas  Před 2 lety +1

      HDPE works on private ground and if it is supported by a base. Drawback because it is plastic it easier for it to float. Corrugated pipe because of the of the weigh it is better to use for discharge and intake pipe. RCP is required under heavy traffic area for the strength.

      Main difference is cost, and design life (also cost related), solid round PVC is more expensive but has a design life 100-years+ since it’s plastic. Corrugated steel pipe (CSP) even when galvanized corrodes over time and depending on soil or water conditions (high salinity) can accelerate the corrosion. Usually the extra cost of pipe material outweighs the cost of construction in these situation so using a PVC option is generally what is used.
      You can also get PVC coated CSP which is a cost efficient option. I don’t know if that is what is being used in the video or if the video is just corrugated PVC.

      @@monsieurgarf4058 I used cmp. I’m glad I did. Too many benefits. But you already know. Thanks for comment.

    Crane operator needs to be fired. Owner or manager needs to be jailed for putting the expendable immigrant labor in the line of fire.

      I was thinking same thing… so many safety issues. Give your guys vests, hard hats, safety glasses when sledging out concrete for connections. Eliminate pinch points with the excavator. I was wondering if that’s why the skeleton appeared… did one of those guys die? 🤦‍♂️
