Building Large Concrete Catch Basin to Fix Insufficient Drainage

The size of the catch basin installed at this property by the previous contractor was too small by a comical proportion. We were provided video footage by the property manager of just how poorly it faired during a storm, and have included it at the beginning of this video for you to see!
The original size of the catch basin installed was only 12" x 12", which we replaced with a custom built, concrete basin that measured 24" x 44" - what a difference!
When it comes to installing drainage, experience and physics matter. The sheer volume of runoff coming from this driveway necessitated an 8" discharge line, and the layout of the slab required that the basin have a particular width - in this case over 40 inches!

I'm trying to learn this stuff and I just don't understand where the water goes, that's a shallow lil hole with concrete?? Concrete is super porous?
