      That's great. I go to Chicago several times a year and I like Chicago. However, I'd never live there. Texas is the best place to be.

    The construction part is no joke. Roads are consistently being rebuilt and expanded.

      Seriously! 635 construction will never end and 35 heading south of downtown for a solid 10 miles straight is nonstop construction.

      Kat find a way. I think you would like it here. It is hot as hell in summer but rest of year is perfecto. Mr Vega is correct you have to have a 🚗 the Metroplex is HUGE. He hones in on Dallas but Ft Worth and all suburbs are also great. The absolute center of the universe is Grapevine,TX. You will see it on Google Earth is 5 miles from DFW International Airport. Good luck!

    One thing not mentioned: Dallas is quite a lux city. Clothes shopping on the level of NYC or LA. Ferrari, Rolls Royce, etc. on the street is a common sight with all the highest-end car dealerships present in the city. Food choices are endless. Etc.

    Trust me dude, our Dallas traffic is nowhere near as brutal as LA's. Those highways routinely make people contemplate suicide. I've lived in both cities, so I'm in a position to know. You're right about the public transpo and the toll roads, though. Both suck big time in Dallas.

    It may get really hot in the summer and a little unpredictable in the winter, but at least it's sunny for a good chunk of the year in Dallas. Winter in the Midwest is its own special kind of depression.

      Try for 10 months/year; Winter, in Dallas, means 4-8 weeks (from the end of December through the end of February) with temperatures between 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit, and overcast skies/conditions!!

      @@Mimiscellaneous if I were you, I'd be choosing to move, either, to New York, or, if you must have warm/hot (and dry) weather conditions for 10 months/year, Los Angeles; but then, I don't know what you can afford!

    In my opinion, the weakest link with your analysis is that you haven't lived anywhere else. So when you complain about the weather or the traffic or the need for a car ....try out places like LA, Chicago, NY and Toronto and compare. Dallas is a very well balanced package!

    Great vid homie. I'm from Oak Cliff. I would recomend to folks moving here to live/rent close to Dart light rail. Yes, the raìl is very reliable, but the Dart buses, not so much.
    For attractions, check out reunion tower, JFK exibit, Ft. Worth stockyards, Ft. Worth zoo, Ft. Worth water gardens and definitely State fair of Texas.
    Yeah, if your job requires you have to take a toll road to work, expect your toll bill can be $50 - $100 per month.
    Dress appropiately for the summers in Dallas. I used to walk 20 mins to the light rail, and be sweating profusely before 7 am

      Three years ago, I flew from Rio de Janeiro to Dallas, my city, it was around March. I had a layover in Toronto. It was the night before my friends wedding. I left Brazil, wearing a tank top. Nine hours later, i arrived in Toronto, and in March, it was too cold for me to go to the airport parking garage and smoke a cigarette.
      BTW, the Toronto airport was the first time I saw a 7-eleven in the six months that I left Dallas for Brasil. I bought a huge coffee.

      I hear you! I can't stand the heat. However, it's waaaaaay better than those Chicago winters lol. Also, I'd say 40 days or so out of the summer are super hot. Which isn't bad, unless you work outdoors.

    I love Dallas. I was there for 3 weeks for a job training and the traffic compared to Southern California is not bad at all. And it's not crowded like SoCal.

    I moved to Dallas in 2000 from Chicago not knowing one person. 2021 I am still here. It's been a great town to live in. Getting a little crowded now but that's growth.

      @@heyitsgee It really depends on where you work. The big growth now is Frisco/Far North Dallas. If your young and single Uptown is good place to start. It's right by downtown just to the north.

    When I lived in Irving Texas a suburb in dallas southern hospitality was definitely a thing but I feel like parents weren’t the best about passing it on to their kids because I knew a lot of mean kids at my school in Irving.

    The heat definitely is a make it or break it. Expect it to be around 96°F with 60% humidity from June through September. So you better make sure your car has iced cold A/C!

    I live in SF Bay area I might move when I retire and sell my house, contemplating moving to the DALLAS or San Antonio area, I keep hearing people are very friendly, am Latino and with a personality. I hope when I retire in 8 years still affordable.

      It may not be...As West coast States, CA, WA, getting insane expensive year after year despite Covid pandemic effect !!, ( housing prices are still insane in Seattle and not even nice looking ones!), people will seek out to move further east, or southeast where ever they can afford to live and then push up prices...

    Dallas has crazy weather no doubt, but compared to New England or the midwest, Dallas weather is overall pretty stable and predictable.

      Compared to the UK Dallas weather is less variable, always warm and dry, though it does rain a lot during November to January.

      @@VIPRealty 90s and humid is pretty common. Severe thunderstorms happen in spring and summer too. The winters are the most variable part of the year. We could have days in january it’s sunny and in the 50s and other days it’s windy and drops into the single digits.

    I lived in Plano from 80 to 93 and construction was everywhere even back then, but at least there were no toll roads yet and lots of good country back road shortcuts. The heat was fine for the first 5 years but when I hit about 27 and bought my first home, the heat started wearing on me, it was best to stay indoors or go shopping in an air conditioned mall. Would I ever move back? Probably not, it's way too crowded now, I went back in 2014 and barely recognized the place! Even so, people there were always friendly, more so than anywhere else that I lived. l have good memories from working there (TI) and living down there.

      @@alexmurphy5289 Why? because of all the traffic or just too much ongoing construction? ... it's sort of always been that way. I75 was 2 lanes in the early part of the 80s but was always under construction the whole 13 years I lived there. Someone mentioned California is worse and I'd have to agree.

    I've been working in the Dallas area for a little while. The highway system is good, had an adjustment period for myself. There is a small population of bad driver's, speeders and road hogs, but you would find that anywhere in America. Big City so far I haven't gone everywhere. The people seem to be friendly. I'll update as I go.

      Nice! I will most likely be moving there soon die to work leaving CA. I got an offer that I should take up. Im a bit bummed about the heat and leaving the nature/camping that I have here in CA. What places would you recommend to look for an apartment? I wouldn’t mind commuting a bit. Job would be located by Mountain creek lake.

    I think you should say that from I20 and I35 to 75 and 635 is only 31 miles via no tolls. And via tollway from I20 and I35 is only 2 more miles, why pay toll ways. You should give the option of traceling via toll ways or interstate roads. I moved up here 40 years ago and I don't drive on toll ways. It is a waist of money.

    I’m a native Texan I live In South Carolina now I lived in wills point Texas and Dallas and Greenville Texas I wish my family had never moved from Texas my late dad was from South Carolina my mom was from Texas my dad was a Baptist preacher so we moved around some I really really miss Texas and the friendly Texas people I hope to move back to Texas one day Dallas is a very nice town home to big Tex and the Dallas Cowboys
