Our First Impressions Of JERUSALEM (should you visit?)
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 5. 06. 2024
- In today's episode, we enter the gates of one of the world's holiest cities, central to all three major Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity). It was a surreal experience walking the streets of Jerusalem, a city we'd heard about our whole lives.

Israel and Palestine were countries #86 and 87/197đ
Thank you for watching!đđ
THANK YOU GUYS FOR WATCHING†Have you been to Jerusalem?
Yes, I have
Many times
Yes. Twice accually. Love Israel.
No because Iâm Muslim đ„ș
@@aneesachaudhury3360 you know there is a whole section in the old city called the Muslim quarter. Muslim do live in and around Jerusalem, so it can't be because you are Muslim.
Thank you for this video. The holiest place for Jews is not the western wall but the temple mount itself, where the first and second tempels used to stand and where the dome of the rock stands today.
The western Wall is currently the our holiest site since beit hamildash was ruined
@@gevamaor4908 no itâs not. As David correctly stated, our holiest site continues to be on the Temple Mount and the only significance of the Western Wall is itâs proximity to what is behind it!
@@gevamaor4908 David was right, the Temple Mount is the holiest site for Jews, but the Muslims have been taking over it a few years ago and ever since Jews can't go up there anymore. The tension might spark another war, and it has happened before.
@@thehilaryglow it was abandoned and restored by the muslims 100s of years ago. Now eastern europeans think they have a right to build their third temple because one of their grandfathers was circumsized.
@@thehilaryglow đđđđđđđYou mean that Jerusalem belongs to Palestine and not to you, and you occupied it in 1948, you filthy criminals
So glad you guys enjoyed Jerusalem.. And you put in great representation. Only one correction - the Western wall is not the holiest place for us Jews, mount temple is. The only reason we consider the Western wall holy is because it is our only remnant from the temple, but the place of the temple is the holiest. Plus the holiest place for Islam is not mount temple, but Mecca.
he had stated in the video that Al Aqsa mosque is the third holiest site for muslims and not the first! :)
@@xgabeesx Thanks for pointing that out.. I must have missed that
Small correction - The Western Wall is not the holiest site for Jews, the Temple Mount is ( right above the Western Wall where the Dome of the Rock was later built ). The Western Wall, called 'The Western Wall' simply because it is the Western Wall of the ancient Temple Mount complex, is simply the holiest place which Jews are allowed ( Both for religious and political reasons ) to be in proximity to.
But the actual holiest spot would be smack dab in the middle of the Dome of the Rock, where the Ark of the Convenant was supposed to be housed in the Holy of the Holies during First Temple era.
My holiest spot is in tel aviv. On the beach next to menta ray beach where i surf
I just adore y'all so much!
It's so incredibly amazing that you take the time to do research and find out about the history of the country, and y'all also do it with respect and understanding.
It is rare to see people who are respectful and full of desire to learn.
Wishing you lots and lots of happiness and blessings.
love from Israel!
Oh my gosh, those falafels looked amazing! Great vlog of Jerusalem, I wasnât really expecting it to look like that. So beautiful!â€ïžđâïž
Falafel is a famous Palestinian food, not an Israeli one
A perspective that I never even realized that I needed to see ! Thank you for yet another wonderful adventure.
Awesome video guys! Love that you folks saw that the old city isn't really divided into 4 start "quarters". You will see Yeshivas, Churches, Synagogues, Mosques etc. along all the different quarters. It's a lot more intertwined than people think.
One correction, however: the Kotel (Western Wall) is not quite the holiest site for Jews. The Temple Mount (where the gold dome of the rock sits) is actually the holiest site for Jews as that is the place where both Jewish Temples once stood (and where the Holy of the Holies is). That said, since Jews are not allowed up on Temple Mount, the Wall is considered to be the holiest site Jews can and do pray at due to its proximity to Temple Mount.
Also interesting tidbit: the climb you did towards the end brought you to the Mount of Olives. This site hosts a Jewish cemetery which has been in use for over 3000 years and is the oldest and largest Jewish cemetery in the world. It is the holiest Jewish cemetery and many important Jewish historical figures are buried there.
Lovely video. One correction to Alex G's correction: Jews are allowed on the Temple Mount, but only for limited hours on certain days, exactly like any other non-Muslim. Additionally, no non-Muslim person is allowed to pray on the Temple Mount, only Muslims. This is a political compromise reached in 1967 between Moshe Dayan (then Israeli Minister of Defense) and Jordanian authorities. I myself have been there with my wife during tourist visiting hours. Peace to all.
@@maxperkoff9811 Yes, though we don't really say Jews are "allowed on Temple Mount" when they are only allowed under certain tight restrictions and are not allowed to pray.
I can say from experience when I went in June. Jews were the only group surrounded by soldiers. The gentiles could go up by themselves and had less restrictions on where they could go.
Dan you really have a sense of humor. I enjoy watching you two stuff yourselves around the planet! Please keep them coming.
Wonderful video! I also feel I know what Oskar meant - although Iâm not religious either, but exploring Jerusalem gave me goosebumps and all the feels having grown up with Christianity and its stories. I fell in love with the place - I mean probably also mostly due to being a huge history buff and this small area of land holding so much fascinating, multicultural history. I just hope for eventual lasting peace for Israel, Palestine and the region overall, as itâs such a beautiful place containing so much to be treasured for humanity. đ€đ»

Thanks for another great episode! Dan, you should get your Mom back on the show to give us âseniorsâ a person of reference (just a suggestion). Jerusalem was great. Itâs on our bucket list.
What an amazing video. So well edited, and great music choice. It was interesting from the first frame to the last. You did a brilliant job here; I am looking forward to see your next outing in Israel. It's so interesting, and wow doesn't the FOOD looks great (p.s. been vegan for 11 years now....). Yum. Tak!
Thank youđ 11 years, kudos!!đ±
I have never been to Jerusalem before. Thank you for sharing another great video about Jerusalem. It's very interesting too. Loved you guys. Thank you. đđđâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Gorgeous videos of an inspiring experience in the worldâs holiest city!
Thanks for showing us some beautiful parts of the country in a non-political way.
I was very impressed that you took the time to visit the YAD VASHEM Holocaust MUSEUM
Jerusalem is near the top of my bucket list of places to visit! I've wanted to see the Holy Sepulcher in person for so long so it was nice to get a little snippet of it in your vlog here. All of the different corners look so interesting and there's so much to learn! That pomegranate/orange juice had me drooling haha It looked delicious, especially on a hot day! Looking forward to seeing the dead sea in the next vlog! Travel safe, friends!
Worth a visit of course! But don't be disappointed that it is smaller than you thought and VERY touristy!!
Loved the video. Love you guys. This is Definitely on my bucket list. Lots of love from the United Statesđ„°
Such a lovely video about Jerusalem!!! Very nice content!!!!
Another awesome video! It looked like a jam packed day!
Had the best time with youâ€ïž
It was soooo fun seeing youâ€ïž You're the best addition to the video toođ€Ł
Thank you guys for visiting and enjoying :)
Great video and thank you for sharing this, Toda!
Haven't been there in such a long time!!! Thanks for the vid, I'm living vicariously through you!!! đđđ€©
As an American, I don't think I'd admit to eating American fast food when roaming the streets of foreign countries. Maybe I'd cheat and not tell anyone. đ Hopefully you were able to try some upscale restaurants - I've heard there are some very creative chefs and innovate cuisine in Tel Aviv.
Thank you for covering all realms of Jerusalem... i love it here and really appreciate all of your perspectives. Blessings on all of your travels!
Another nice video. The past two videos about Israel & Palestine have been very informative. Btw, I always enjoy seeing Danâs facial expressions when trying food & drinks from different countries. Itâs also cool that you guys have friends in many different countries to help you navigate the vegan food scene. See you around the world.
Thank you for showing our beautiful Jerusalem , itâs the best, isnât it? đ you are welcome back anytime đ and thank you for not politicising it⊠too many people try to politicise Israel and Jerusalem in their CZcams vlogs and they literally have no idea about anything. Just enjoy the people, food, culture and the magnificent sites and beaches â€ïžâ€ïž people donât see enough of this side of it
it's not 'your' Jerusalem... because when you steal something, it's not yours.
Jerusalem will always be the eternal capital of Palestine.
@@dudeOmzeh yes
Thanks Oskar and Dan. You really made Jerusalem come alive so much. It's really like nothing I have ever seen before. It looks so hilly. Good exercise for you both I think. I think I would have been in tears at Yad Vashem. Looking forward to seeing you both at the Dead Sea too.
hey Oskar & Dan . Your videos are super high quality, informative & entertaining . Much respect . Mark (Toronto) đđŽđ
What a beautiful and moving video. John and I had the same overwhelming response to the Holy sights. Isnt it extraordinary that this lush and verdant place is actually a desert!? Another miracle.
You guys are the true artist really u guys deserve this fame keep.on doing đđđđ
Wow, you guys did so well on this video. So glad you visited my country.
Unfortunately I have never been but itâs on my bucket list! Such beautiful and interesting city I thought it was a pity you didnât stay a little longer, nonetheless Iâve really enjoyed this vlog! I really need to visit it and get my head around this city! It really fascinates meâš
You killed me with Papa Jonesđ€Șđ€Ł
Iâve never been either(not on my bucket listđ«ą)
Have fun
Sabrinađ«đ·đŹđ§
I live in jerusalem and id be more than happy to show you around and a tour in the city
Thank you for sharing. This is a great video!
Nice hope you both have fun!
Awesome you guys
This is an exceptionally good video full of useful information. You played the theme to Bridgerton early in the video - I expected you both to trot on stage in giant powdered wigs and voluptuous brocade dresses, speaking upper-crust English, declaring, "We shall be wed this season, Lady Whistledown." (Both fan yourselves to chill the excitement).
What, we've never watched Bridgerton, had no idea that was the themeđ
@@OskarandDan You will love it - gayest show on Netflix. Lotsa pretty men and strong women. đ
We love watching you two explore the world đ„°
.. or eating as they said đđ
Thanks for coming along!!đ„° (or eating along lmao)
Hey guyz keep it up. Great content. Love it
I love your friends energy †she seemed so positive!
Thanks for taking us on your travels! :) Such a very historical place to travel too, and I specially loved the PapaJohns segment... now I'm hungry for pizza.. thanks guys! :P
#SeeYouAroundTheWorld
Just love your passion for vegan food đ Your passion for hummus from heaven and I always get so hungry when I see the plates you get. There is a Dutch word; Moek Hebben! To have, I want, I need (my precious)
Great video and Jerusalem looks awesome
Ha! That drag race clip caught me off guard but was literally perfect.
I'll be traveling to Israel soon! really enjoyed your video. Cant wait for falafel and shwarma.
Love the video and all the vegan finds! Canât wait to go back and explore more of the city soon
â€đ±
Sorry to nitpick, but the western wall is not the holiest site for Jews, itâs the closest most of us can get the the holiest site, were Bite Hamikdash was built and believed that there it will be built again.
I really enjoyed the video. Especially from the way you reviewed the main sites that Jerusalem has to offer. Of course, it was just a drop from the sea :)
Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful.
Good job boys!
"hopefully we'll be in Armenia in a few months". I live here! Would love to show you around when you decide to come visit, you'll love it. Reach out and I'll gladly help out :)

The video is amazing You show the real Jerusalem Very well
Really nice to see you here.
It`s important to say that the western wall is not the holiest place for Jewish people.
It Is actually the Temple Mount.
The western wall got its status as a holy place, because it's one of four retaining walls of the temple mount, the closest to the temple's heart.
So happy you went to yad vashem museum it's so important
Fantastic video,,content has all the best location and information about the place and food,,,,sunset ,vegan food all adds up to the charisma of the wonderful holyland
Bra filmat! Blev sÄ sugen pÄ Äka nu!
Please don't mislead viewers, the holiest site for the jewish people is the whole temple mount area, NOT the western wall. Otherwise, nice video.
đ Excellent video!
I've lived most my life in Jerusalem.
Two years ago I was supposed to go with my school to yad va Shem but sadly because of COVID we didn't go
@6:00
thank you for this!!! not much positive content about Jerusalem out there..great video â€đźđ±đźđ±

I liked the video very much! Next time, if you happen to visit Tel Aviv, I'll be happy to show you guys around. It is my home city. I'm a polyglot and I know a bit of Swedish as well. Take care :)
Love all videos,hi from BARBQDOS
beautiful JERUSALEM !
thanks for showing the truth about lovely ISRAEL â€
That Papa John's pizza looked incredible! Usually, places skimp out on the vegan cheese.
So true!đ±
Well I always enjoy watching you eat
đđ
You are just two sweethearts đ
To be fair, food is so integral to the culture, if you weren't eating all around the world, I'd be less invested! I get so many ads for Jerusalem and it seems to be marketing itself as an open and diverse place. Love the channel and thanks for taking the time out of your adventures to show us your perspectives.
#eatingaroundtheworld đ
Dunch... I call it linner! Haha! Looks very touristy. When I was in Israel, I was 4 years old. I need to go again soon.
Linner works toođ€Ł
Wonderful video
Hi Guys. I always enjoy your videos and I'm so pleased you are in Israel. I have been to Jerusalem many times and it never ceases to amaze. Its a wonderful city and Israel in general is a wonderful country with great food and great acceptance of gay people. Its also quite fast forward and technically quite exceptional. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Hey Oskar And Dan! Quick question, would you consider Transnistria as a Country that you could visit and count on your list of 100 countries? Transnistria is not recognised by any international body, however their football team did beat Real Madrid once.
It is not part of the 197, so no :)
Estos muchachos son muy afortunados de visitar todos esos lugares
Great video!! I did all the CZcams-y things! (As EDB SAYS! đ)
Re-watch the food stuff--SUPER Yum!! I am going to check out Papa John's (before Passover), if it is still there! Thanks for the great tip! Off to finish packing...!
the western wall is NOT the holiest site in judaism, the holiest is the site of the temble and tho temple mount/ dome of the rock, because jews were not allowed up there and the religious laws for going up are not so clear we resorted to the closest place we could get, the western wall. thanks for visiting!
Very interesting
Oh wow!! I'm so happy to see a video from you guys in Israel!! Best country for vegans, btw you passed close to an amazing vegan restaurant in the mahane Yehuda đ I'm not vegan and I simply love that place!! Hope you enjoy everything in this beautiful country that now is my home! đ„°â€ïž
Amazing vegan food all aroundđđ±
Correction: western/wailing wall isn't exactly the holiest site to Jewish people, the temple mount is (where el Aqsa was built as well). Due to many violent events (in fault of both muslim and Jewish sides, I believe), access to the holiest place is unbelievably limited for Jews and any Jewish religious act/objects are strictly prohibited... you might understand by now by yourselves that the more violent side is the winner here...
would love one day meet you on sanaa yemen
I HOPE U WENT TO TEL AVIV
Nice video
4 hours from jerusalem.. u have a hidden city.. called eilat..
the northest point on earth with corals..
the red sea :)
The best part of the video .. papa Johnâs! đ

So easy being vegan in Israel đ„°đ§Ą
Dont even need to look for a special resturant.. most if the places have vegan options đż
It's true!đ±
Love that youâre vegan!

I would like to make a correction- the western wall isnât the holiest site for us, the Jews. The holiest site is the Temple Mount , where the first and second temple once stood. Throughout the past two thousand years, for different reasons, Jews couldnât go to the Temple Mount and pray (some religious and also because Jew were forbidden by the different authorities). The closest place to the holiest place they could enter, was the western wall, which is a wall that was built during the time of the second temple to support the Temple Mount. Itâs very holy, but never the holiest.
