BEST STREET FOOD IN JERUSALEM // ISRAEL-PALESTINE TRAVEL VLOG

  • Street food in Jerusalem in delicious! We started the day off with empty stomachs and slowly filled them up as we tried as many street foods as we could in Jerusalem's Mahane Yehuda Market before the market closed for Shabbat. We both agree that the most delicious food we tried was Sufganiyot (Israeli doughnut), while the most entertaining food was Malawach. We loved walking around the market and trying all the foods that caught our eye!
    We have included the price of each food item in the video to give you an idea of the cost of food in Israel. Spoiler alert - it is not cheap! Israel is a very expensive place to travel to which is something you will want to keep in mind if you are planning to visit. We are believers in learning about a place through the cuisine, so we were happy to spend a little more than we normally would to get a better feel for the huge variety of food that can be found in Jerusalem. If you are the same, watch this video in full to see where to eat in Jerusalem, what to eat in Jerusalem, and what people in Israel eat! We feel confident we found some of the best street food in Jerusalem and hope you enjoy coming along with us as we give it a try!

    I hope you won't let some of the more hateful comments get to you. To clear some things up - Most of the food is indeed not "Israeli" nor "Jewish". It's Middle Eastern food that's popular in Israel because, well, Israel *is* in the Middle East. Another reason is because about half of Israel's Jewish population is Mizrahi Jews (A.K.A Jews from Arab countries such as Yemen, Morocco, Persia, etc), and they brought those countries' cuisine with them to Israel. Hope this helps. Have fun wherever you go!

Such great history in Jerusalem ❤ - I visited it once when I was younger, in the 90s, such a grand place, but honestly, I’ve heard it’s so much harder now, now that Israel is trying to stake a claim on Jerusalem, where Jerusalem based on the two state solution was suppose to be east and west, Israel trying to occupy all of Jerusalem has I have heard, made it more difficult to travel and visit Jerusalem sadly 😞

    They basically fed us the same thing everyday, we had beef, lamb or chicken shawarma on pita bread.
    The hummus from a restaurant in Bethlehem was really really good and it was my favorite from what I had on the entire trip.
    I really had a hard time because the food was so bad I just don’t understand how it’s ok to feed us the same thing everyday. I understand it’s hard with a group of 25 people but other than Shawarma I didn’t see any other fast food option.

    It's quite insulting to call it "ISRAEL-PALESTINE" when everything shown in the video is from Mahane Yehuda market (an Israeli market), from Israeli sellers (jews and arabs alike) and in the territory of Israel. If the video had also included things from the West Bank, it would have makes sense. Currently it doesn't.

      The entirety of Jerusalem is contested between Israel and Palestine so we include both in the name to acknowledge it. Regardless the food we had in Jerusalem was amazing.

As a Christian one day I want to visit Bethlehem and all its beautiful churches. Viva Palestine!!!

      Jews have lived in Arab lands for thousands of years and a lot of the food that they brought over to Israel. ,after getting kicked out of those lands, were foods that the Jewish communities modified from Arab culture. If you research, you will be surprised to find that a lot of Arab dishes have Jewish origins in their Arab host countries....

    • @salRL-eb3zc
      @salRL-eb3zc Před rokem +3

      The food is Middle Eastern, Jews lived in Arab countries and were also in numbers of hundreds of thousands, most of them worked well and were considered helpful helpers in local governments because of loyalty and honesty and this contributed to the existence of the Jewish communities there. There is also traditional Jewish food which is more home food than street food and there is more updated food. Today Israel is full of excellent restaurants in all sectors
