About Rick and Morty:
Rick and Morty is Adult Swim's most scientifically accurate animated comedy. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it catalogues the bizarre misadventures of a bored scientific genius/drunkard and his socially awkward grandson, Morty. Their exploits tend to have unintended consequences for Morty's dysfunctional family, especially his unfailingly mediocre father, Jerry. Watch Rick and Morty battle everything from interdimensional customs agents to Cronenberg monsters now, only at AdultSwim.com.

Dan Harmon: "Evil is a concept Rick doesn't believe in"
Meanwhile Rick : Does evil exist? And can you measure it? Hypothetical question morty. The answer is yes. "😂
Dev whomp whomp
I think rick probably simplified it for Morty to understand because how would you explain to him evil isn't an actual construct but whatever is cursing that object can be measured. like you could say that but it would lead to more questions.
rick as a character I would say fits more with the idea of not believing in evil but to be able to talk about it to someone who does you would have to just simplify it
Evil in what beth refer is doing something bad, meanwhile i think what OP refering in that episode is evil as in curse
The creators dont give 2 sh*ts about the plot making sense. Also, by his words, if Rick wanted an escape from Beth, why does he need Morty? Why couldnt he go on adventures with her? Just because he is compliant and more easy to manage? None of this matters tho, because the plot is going nowhere.
And then we find out that he did make a clone but shuffled them both so that he doesn’t know which is the original. I think he did it because regardless of the fact that one of them is a clone, he still had a hand in both their creation which makes them both equal as his daughters, his responsibility.
I get that they were shuffled but they were still facing the same direction.
And honestly, if everything went as planned, it wouldn't have mattered. The clone would die, and the other would gain the clone's memories, and life would go on.
What pisses me off is how later when we find out about Rick making the non decision of not knowing which one is his real daughter the makers talk like he is a terrible person for choosing that. But Beth was the one to really make the no decision by trying to force someone else to make the decision for her.
I saw it more as the ultimate betrayal of Beth's trust in Rick. She trusted him to do what she thought was best for her, and he, as always, just did what he thought was easiest for him.
Me: laughing from future
I’m from even more in the future
Oh. Do we get to know what she chose in the future?

It isn't. What a disappointment.
Gonna be honest, this felt more like the Season Final episode over the one we got.
It would of been cool if for the the whole 4th season, we dont know if this is the real Beth or a clone.
Alas.
Agreed completely
we still dont
We never will. Not even Rick knows
Yeah, I'm here from the future to tell you that's exactly what they did; until the reveal. Hope you enjoyed it, Beth...
@@jackwisniewski3859 I am leaning towards Beth being motherless, she's a gender reversed clone of Rick; so technically all Beths' are clones, copying one to make another still leaves two/infinite clones. At least, I've yet to see any other personality in Beth other than Rick's; where is her mother's nature inside of her (and if Rick abandoned her, who raised her)?
It doesn't matter if it's the Real or Clone Beth by the end of the episode because either way Beth reached clarity about her place in the universe and made a decision.
It doesn't make a difference, either way Beth made a decision. If nothing matters then you have nothing to lose.
Damn this aged poorly

Was about to comment about the ABSOLUTE BOP which is BOC in the background but you beat me to it
I thought it was a death note song and it was
"Evil is a construct that Rick doesn't really believe in" yeah sure man, is that why he literally fought the actual Devil after scientifically proving that evil is a thing that not only exists figuratively, but as something that can be detected and nullified?
So if there is a devil wouldn't there be a god?
He fought the Devil as a challange. That's it.
Joshua Baumbouree So, I have a question, was morty evil for killing the gas creature after pretending to be his friend? Also, evil is a matter of perspective, its not the same for everyone. Fighting others is evil, but without it we would still live in cages. So the devil might not be evil after all, at least rick saw him as a being using science hacks to trick people. Life would be boring without challenges, after all.
Teo Val Fighting others isn't evil.
Evil and good is pretty understandable if you analize each situation. In cages the man didn't kill others because he was psycho, but becase survival. Rick do things like destroying the earth not because survival but because he is a psycho. So the "psycho" thinking meant to be the evil.
I have no reason to live after tonight's episode
God's mistake season 9
Season 4 dude
Can't wait for more adventures with...fly fishing Rick....yay
God's mistake what a weirdly mixed finale
Dyllan Rodriguez agreed, I hate to keep using this word but it perfectly describes it: underwhelming
This episode is a great example of exactly what people mean when they say "At least I admit it."
Rick says he's a bad father because he thinks he was never capable of being a good one, but the way I see it, he's a bad father because he never even attempt to shoulder the responsibility of raising his child. Cuz let's face it: what 3-year-old kid doesn't lack impulse control or empathy like Beth allegedly did? It's the parents' responsibility to not only teach them those things but not foster violent habits. It was still Rick's choice to make those violent toys for her, and by his own admission, everything he made for her, including Froopyland, was his way of getting her off of his back so he could work (safe or not, Beth was right to call it a glorified chicken coop). Rick pats himself on the back by saying at least he didn't just shove an iPad in front of her, but he still basically bought her off with toys instead of taking care of her the way she needed to be. Just like when he clones Beth, he did what was easiest for HIM, not what he thought was best for her.
Rick says "I agree with you, I'm a terrible father" for the same reason he says "I'm sorry you THINK you deserve an apology": it's just another example of him refusing to take any responsibility for anything that's not important to him.
Watched the finale twice because I love the show and did like the finale but I must say it was very fillerish surprisingly. I feel it didnt have like that punch the last couple season finales had. It was like a total filler episode which is weird because to me rick and morty is never like family guy and has this filler vibe to it. Granted that it did have a point at the very end and you see things change but still it felt like this episode missing something. Im hyped for the next season but just a but disappointed of the finale.
90% of rick and morty is filler.
devak not at all really. It has a open premise but follows a story line and development thread all the time. Only a handful of episodes are just adventures.
Dyllan Rodriguez THE FINALE SUCKED
Jason Godwin
Of course you think so.
Character development isn't filler
it almost feels like the creators wanted the fans to be disappointed by season finale...seems like every choice they make is very deliberate and almost like they want to mock how invested people get into things like finales so they purposely made it unsatisfying and underwhelming...
Tori could be
It originally wasn't supposed to be the last episode.
If that's true then Dan Harmon needs to get over his divorce already.
@@SlashBolt Nah, it's just that that episode wasn't supposed to be the last. They screwed with their schedule.
whoever sets the background music to these vids, thank you for using boards of canada! they rock
>the writers say the ending was meant to be ambiguous and that it's meant to have the viewer come to their own conclusions
>the next episode then has Beth asking if she's a clone and if the real beth left
Guys what the fuck?
Lord Fawful Its literally Rick, of course he's lying. He gives a fuck about them and despite out of everything. He couldn't kill the clone beth. Too many feels.
They have no idea how grateful I am to live in the same time as this show
I'm watching this episode right now before the new one drops
It’s really crazy watching this again, after watching the finale of season 4
You're easy to amuse
The fact that for Rick creating a universe isn't much more complicated than putting together Ikea furniture makes you feel he's a couple of steps away from being a god
1:31 [Notices all the lego boxes in the background]
Watching this makes me want a directors commentary version of Rick & Morty
So basically the whole family is back to normal but everyone gets along exept rick
This is a bit random but I love that Justin Roliand has so many lego boxes behind him.
I like how it's not just the audience that doesn't know - Beth also doesn't know. Because if she is a clone, then it's because the real Beth left and she was made to think that she was the real Beth. So even if she decided to stay, there's no way she could know that she had made that choice and that she wasn't the clone given that false memory. Pretty nifty.
POST FULL EPISODES HERE PLEASE😭😭😭😭
It doesn't matter which path Beth chose because in both cases she finally made a choice herself, to either stay with Jerry or go and explore the universe. It's the first time she had a say how her life was going to develop in the future, and I think that's what matters the most in the episode.
A BETH CLONE = ABC ....THANKS FOR THE LIKES!
What What oh.....my.......fuck
What What Ooooh shit !!
Ho. Lee. Shit.
Aaaaand theory Overruled.
It doesn't matter if she's a clone. It literally won't change a thing. That was the entire point

An episode where rick finds a reality where Szechwan sauce is still around
I feel like I want to cry for Beth sometimes because being related to Rick it's fun but at the same time it's sad and Beth has a little cold side to her so personally I think she can be evil I don't know if Beth stayed or not that's what the creators of the show supposed to tell us or what we all supposed think what happened next. As a fan who love's Rick and Morty and everybody who's apart of phantom of the show can make up little theories or fan art it should be fun.
seeing this now after season 4 episode 10 *(Spoilers)*
really change *all* the things
rick wanted to be left alone no matter what unless we benefiting from this
"Am I Evil?"
"Worse. You're smart"
Literally the moment the show jumped the shark.
The line is kind of hacky, but I get it from Rick's point of view.
He knows "evil" is a moral construct so it doesn't mean much subjectively.
So I think Rick says it in a sense of "it's worse for you" to be smart because it involves a lot of unhappiness for you.
Jorge Lujan Beth is the opposite of smart though. Compared to Jerry? Yeah sure. But none of her choices so far says smart.
elaborate
@@kitpalmer1583 Just here to comment that no one was able to explain to you why Beth being smart was the 'worst.' Even a year on . . .because Beth actually is intelligent and the show did not "jump the shark." Well done Kit Palmer.
Who else thought the finale was a little off-putting and too neat. Morty was weirdly happy all the time, Summer was like super supportive of the rest of her family and Beth was happy with who she is. Who reckons Justin and Dan planned this on purpose to underwhelm us for the crazy shit that we usually see and they just gave us a satisfactory episode with a couple of funny one lines. I'd say they did this so that in season 4 episode 1 they reveal to us that Morty, Summer, and Beth were all clones from the finale. And of course Jerry fell in love with a clone haha lol
I can't believe it's gonna be at least 2 years until season 4
BoC is a perfect compliment to discussing a show that is having an existential crisis every episode
Can u do a video on the conclusion to this?
love ur channel
So... How long before you make a season 4 ??
This further proved my suspecion that they didnt plan anything and that they keep retconning stuff as they go along

I respect the creators and writers for respecting our intellect and choice to decide. Great show.
Who’s here after the season 4 finale
Ok so s3ep10 came out and it seems finale-esque?
*seasson finales exist*
I definitely think Beth left. You don't turn around so quick after a life changing revelation like that. I can't see her immediately becoming happy in her life because of her decision to stay. For me, that just screams clone along with the affection Rick shows with her, which is an emotion he really doesn't display often if at all. Of course I don't remember if there is any indication of how much time passed between their conversation and the pizza dinner, but regardless it just doesn't feel like Beth to me.
who's here after watching episode 10 Mr poopybutthole has a family omg I'm shedding in tears
New rick and morty season finale tonight in 10 minutes😭😭
Just saw the finale....it was underwhelming. The pacing was a little too fast and the ending left a lot to be desired and didn't have much impact imo. Everything was wrapped up too neatly and conveniently for my tastes. Still, not a completely bad episode. I'm very much looking forward to next season and Poopybutthole's Santa beard!
Flame of Udun yeah I definitely feel like compared to season 2 finale, this one was a bit underwhelming.
Isaac Chavez it's painful to be honest, but that's pretty much how I felt
Optyzma Adult Swim streamed it (10:30 pm Central)
James Waterson not really much of a consolation, considering the production cycle will take a few years like last time
Rick Sanchez the stream ended, but I'm sure you can find a way to watch it. It's the internet, after all
BOC makes me happy in your videos
1:00-1:10 That's gonna inflate a LOT of egos

Space Beth is the real Beth.
That Beth is too happy, it’s a lie and she’s only truly happy maybe if husband is with her as u never see her truly happy without him even though she also gets annoyed by him
Szechuan Sauce is officially back.
I love this serie👌👌👌👌
I spent some minutes triying to find out from wich one of my devices/tabs Boards of Canada was coming from until I realized it sounded in the background of this video
ONLY 3 hours and 12 minutes LEFT!!!!!!
Eduardo the Dragon I only got 10 minutes. I think you should check in ten minutes.
This show always talks about how "nothing matters" and the creators mention that Beth gets the choice of leaving and being happy. I know leaving would probably make her happier because she's not a family oriented person. But honestly how could you be happy just floating around space, finding random things to do? Why would that be better than being with your family and working on better relationships with them? Maybe I don't understand because I will obviously never get that opportunity, but even if I did, I'm sure I'd take it for maybe like a few days and then come home. Because existence, to me, is only meaningful if I have others that love me and that I love too. Being lonely in space sounds like a nightmare.
I really hope that was justin roilands house because he has a pretty nice collection of LEGO
Boards of Canada music in the background... Nice.
Who I'm the right mind would sympathize with Beth here? She KNOWS leaving her kids is an awful thing to do because she experienced what that was like first hand. And it's heavily implied that she actually went through with it! Are you f*cking kidding me?! She went through the legal battle of keeping her kids away from Jerry just to abandon them?! Even if she didn't actually do it, the fact that she would consider it as much as she did, is inexcusable.
they sympathy is her realization of who she actualy is. her whole life she never understood herself after all this time and she has finally accepted that she is esactly like her father, the thing she has hated and idolised at the same time.
yeh i agree she is a terribal person, but mabey now she understands herself she can move forward

This season finale was very disappointing. The ending was so random and I hate the fact that every thing from the end of season 2 was erased. It basically like it never happened.
cydashlee the pacing was too fast and everything was too convenient
You guys must not have watched the finale
itszaaaamzeh I did...twice
Flame of Udun you might've looked at it. But you didn't WATCH it, this finale was fantastic
Yea, it was funny, I laugh a lot but what was the point of season 2 finale if Jerry and Beth just instantly fixed the many problems that they had and just became a family again like they never had issues in the first place. The season finale was a bit dull and it doesn't give me the feeling of " I have to watch season 4" like how the 2nd season finale did for me.

Wow guys this entry level nihilism is so deep
Just saw the finale. Ok with it. Glad there was no cliffhanger. Also, I'm tired of the writers trying to mess with us. Beth is not a clone. Period. Until I'm proven wrong, I'm not.
That is Boards of Canada playing :)
a guy named poopybutthole thats addicted to pharmaceuticals thats amazing
Personally, i believe that the creators will choose to have Beth cloned and have the real Beth go on space adventures or if that is the real Beth we see in this episode, that there will be an event that pushes Beth into going her on separate ways from her family meaning Beth leaving will be an inevitability. This, to me, would be a more interesting approach and is something I think the creators know would be more interesting to watch from the audience's standpoint and will allow Beth's character to flourish so we can really get to know who Beth is as a person.
My thought was the clone is on adventures.
Ryan has only this sweater or he has a closet full of this?
/music plays
Its no wonder jerry manages to keep beth around
Or maybe she isn't a clone and she really needs jerry because she doesn't want to be smart anymore, but have a simple happy life... that fits very nicely.
With the notion of a clone Beth, consider the realities that Rick and Morty have moved to, how the original jerry may have been switched out in jerry day care, the fact that rick body switched with multiple versions of himself and created a clone of himself out of toxic rick. The show is indifferent to wether a person is that same version of themselves, as its primary message is that nothing really matters, especially due to the fact that each character has infinite versions of themselves
