    It's with this hobby not only on the building side, but also running and switching (playing) with the layout. You can see then if the layout is working and interesting for you.
    I hope that the small procedure goes well and has the expected result.

    Don't understand why people don't watch the videos all the way through, what is the point in watching at all if you don't. Great video again Mike it really is coming on a treat, couldn't help but notice the railbus derailed but great job on the Mehano. Best of luck with the procedure, know what it's like having just come out of hospital after a heart attack. Good luck and keep safe. Frank

    It's still a pleasure to see your little layout : nice, simple, and a well-balanced scenery : not too much, not too few, and everything at its place with a purpose.
    By the way, I am looking at 3D printers to build me some freelance rolling stock, maybe beginning with a schnabel freight wagon with a huge transformer on it, English Electric was an industrial exporter of those. Works also with marine diesels...

    The value that backscene adds to the layout is amazing...the shunter looks great. The American SW-1 you converted reminds me of the units that EMD here in the US built for an Irish railway after WWII.
    Best of luck with your upcoming procedure and hope you're back up to speed quickly.

      Hi, I was quite pleased with the backscene , it's the hedges and trees right up against it that help to blend it. It's interesting how mist nations shunters/switchers ended up very similar. All good thanks, an endoscopy , somewhat overdue due to covid.

    • @paulbolton1071
      @paulbolton1071 Před rokem

      Hi Mike and Doug I’ve just been to my first model railway club tonite in bolton it’s only been going about 3 years and the N gauge has more layouts than the 00 gauge there was also an 0 gauge layout and the owner said Paul these are very expensive and the cost of converting them to dcc is crazy 😖
      it was there open day on Saturday and apparently they did very well with parents bringing in the kids
      I saw mostly dc but there was 2 layouts in dcc and I must admit I was impressed Jen I heard what can be done I even saw a locomotive in 00 that puffed steam as it went along the track the faster it went the more steam came out
      I asked why was the N gauge so popular and they said you can do
      a lot more with N I’ve even discovered there doing N gauge in dcc how they do it in such a tiny locomotive god knows 🤷🏼‍♂️
      I told them I was a beginner and what I had learned had come from Mike and Doug at budget model railways
      and yes they know of you both
      I was given some leaflets for some model railway exhibitions to visit and they also have a sales section of pre owned stock starting at £20 which I think for a beginner is a good starting point a good clean and a service and your away. 👍. Paul

    Well that has come on a real treat since last time! I like proper dense woodland and it always looks good when on a rise like that. I was going to maybe suggest some sort of shrubs towards the back end of it at the limit of the railway merging into the line side greenery by the tunnel mouth just for a wee bit more texture 🤔 Just thought it would add an extra dimension to it 😎
    I think that village area will look just fine especially when you’ve decided on the final locations of the other buildings. A bench and some flower boxes by the war memorial or whatever it is would look terrific 🤓
    But one complaint! You should never apologise for having “too many locos” or any other types of rolling stock for that matter. There are only two levels of stock: “not enough” or “sufficient and more”…and besides,there’s still some gaps in the cabinet (great idea BTW) so all you need declare is that you are “below capacity” surely? 🤣😂😅
    Cheers mate, great to catch up with your activities again 👍🍀🍻🎄

Put the walls in the wrong places forcing me to have a flat roof and no fire. Backstory could be war damage and repaired with a flat roof and electric heater. • @BudgetModelRailways
      @BudgetModelRailways  Před 2 lety

      It's a bit like how long is a bit of string. If you use simple quick methods that helps and of course it depends how much free time you have. I'm retired so it's only taken me a couple of months. 4ft is really more than you need, but for various historical reasons has become a standard. The main thing is keep it simple, the more complex, especially the scenery the linger it will take
