I swear they did this match as a message to everyone else that the rules don't apply to them like everyone else.
They interpreted the data of them always losing viewers during their segments and matches as, "obviously it's because everyone else tried to steal the show before we got on, so we gotta limit what they can do so the crowd sits thru us doing it"
The fact that MJF and Adam Cole’s double clothesline from earlier in the same show, got a bigger pop than anything done in this match, say’s everything.
I'm shocked the Cucks didn't do a double sugar glassline for Excalibur to sell as a live decapitation 😭
Because MJF and Adam knew how to build up to that moment unlike the shitshow we had for 60 minutes.

There was a spot where Hangman was about to hit the buckshot on Claudio. He taunted for almost 10 full seconds with Claudio staring at him. Even Tony Schiavone commented “Claudio sees him!” He still just stands there and takes the move. Excalibur: “It didn’t matter!” LOL
I saw that too. I was like “why are you just standing there and staring at him?” 😂
Not to mention Kota Ibushi threw himself into the thumbtacks for fun after the show 😂🤣😂

But Every single week Moxley is stabbing people and cutting himself in normal 1 on 1 matches so why is it special when he does it in a match where there is no DQ and is allowed to?

The part that broke me was pouring thumbtacs down where two of your friends are about to be powerbombed in hopes they will reverse both moves, while the opponents are standing there dumbfounded for 10 seconds.
I just felt bad for Ibushi. He looked like he could barely move while everyone had to stand there waiting for him to hit them.
I'm so sick of multi man matches in AEW. You can't be excited for anything that's supposed to be crazy and violent because you know 5 or 6 of the people in the match are going to be laying down in the corner selling something they got hit with 15 minutes ago.
AND THEN THEY HAD A 30 MINUTE BATTLE ROYAL ON RAMPAGE THAT SAME WEEK THAT WAS THE SAME THING. Just guys standing around waiting for something, and guys laying down on the ground selling. These guys can have 20-30 minute singles matches but will last 30 seconds in a battle royal before they start selling.

I got zero sympy for Ibushi. I've seen him do great things but if he wants to slum it with his buddies in senseless garbage matches and clown shows, he gets whatever he deserves

It made zero sense that he would know they were both going to reverse the moves and be OK. As an added bonus the two BCC guys about to do the moves to them just looked up in a daze until they were backflipped into the tacs.
Just no logic behind the spot at all.

I really want to ask AEW hardcore fans who like matches like this which is it: Is this a serious match with serious violence to resolve blood feuds? Or is this just fun and having a good time and sportsmanship? The notion of a handshake following this match is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of or witnessed.
I'd have to assume it's the latter. Dynamite has way too many dumb things about it that I just don't get.

Well the Blackpool Combat Club basically started the feud with The Elite because they don't respect them. The handshake may mean they've earned their respect now. feud has to end after a match like this, surely? They've been tearing each other apart for weeks.

As a Kota Ibushi fan when he was in NJPW, he looked AWFUL here. Lost his physique, constant botches, almost killed Takeshita, moved in slow motion and mistimed knee strikes. It's like he was in the middle of a month long bender and got an urgent call from AEW to have a match in a couple days.
Missed a complete kick to the head double team looked awful and I thought immediately looked out of shape
Same here. His face was almost unrecognizable. It's like when wrestlers arrive in AEW they realize nobody cares and just mail in an effort.
When he took the back bump after the match , I said fxxk this guy

From the moment go, Kota Ibushi came out with a face looking like he just came. LOL. AEW gets a completely different person than whatever happened in Japan.

Ibushi throwing himself onto the thumbtacks is a "fuck you" to Mick Foley and anyone else whose ever done a thumbtack spot. The one "spot" in wrestling that everyone has come to accept as the ultimate final blow to a hardcore match, has now lost some of its value because Ibushi wanted to look cool.

Waiting for Corny for this. That blood and guts was overly cartoonishly violent. It was over the top and it felt like I was watching a video game match. Also I am grateful Bryan was not able to participate

I was thinking the same thing. towards the end of the match, it was literally like watching a video game of a bunch of wrestlers set on computer mode, just randomly doing shit to each other across 2 rings.
AEW had the perfect version of Bryan when he "feuded" with Hangman Page and was beating on The Dark Order. Now he's just part of the garbage and can't compete like he should be.
WWE is for little kids though. No blood or piledrivers there. They changed to much since the Chris Benoit incident.

Ibushi's lack of urgency when entering, saving Omega from having his hand stomped into the bed of nails and when he was carefully measuring the heels before kicking them to break up submission holds was probably the worst bit of the match for me. Pac walking out after his argument with Claudio was silly too due to it just making Pac look like a moron.
Pac's gimmick is that he is a bastard. I think it fit the gimmick.
By the way, (in WarGames rules) doesn't a match end if someone gets out of the cage?

Pacs always had this thing in aew that he can't get along with anyone and that's why the pairings with the Mexicans made no sense and having him part of the bbc also makes no sense to begin with, guy should be on his own as a loner singles wrestler heel and that's it. I was there for this, and the whole "we want fire" chant got an audible groan from the group I was with. SO many telegraphed spots in the match too.
When the dudleys used flaming tables in the 90s, you didn't hear anyone saying that, because in the 90s the whole arena wasn't full of marks.
Flaming table spots used to be awesome because nobody expected it

Okada sucks, too. He's just NJPW's John Cena so management has to be turning down tons of these requests. If he were lower on the New Japan card (where he actually should be), he'd be right out there with the rest of the clown car.

Kota Ibushi is an example of the hive mind among smart marks. He's mediocre, but you have to think he's great if you're a smart mark. You have to think Minoru Suzuki is a bad ass even though he can barely move and looks frail. You have to think that Jericho still has it. You have to buy into all of this ridiculousness if you want to stay in that crowd because that's what everyone else thinks.

There's nothing wrong with fans and talent wanting to work safe and look out for each other's wellbeing, but unfortunately, I feel like you hit the nail on the head. The bed of nails thing is popular in freak shows. They are sharp but they are all so close together it defeats any of the sharpness. Displacement is key.
They were definitely sharp. Omega took a back bump while the bed of nails was perched up in the corner. After Omega bounced off the nails and was on his knees selling the move, the bed of nails fell forward and the nails raked Omega across his back and caused him to bleed near his shoulders

My favorite part when when Buck #1 first came into the match he did a drop kick right off the top rope into the glass, but he didnt see the glass was down, so he completely no sold it and really highlighted how fake the match was.
There was also a spot where you can see Nick Jackson talking to Wheeler Yuta like " which Pizza you want?". Casually smalltalk in a bloody cage match. Hell yeah!

I almost had my wife into wrestling for the first time in her life and this match had her throwing in the towl and leaving the room. She said it was "silly and gross" and I knew Cornette was going to agree. Such a bizarre clown show, that final match.
Edit: Definitely should have known better, but I was getting cocky after she endured the entirety of this week's SmackDown and Collision.

HBK has 5 stars against Scott Hall and Taker and Austin had a few 5 stars from Multi-Mans in WCW and the stuff with Bret in the WWF. That being said, most of these guys deserve more matches rated higher than this mess.
I've watched almost all NXT war games matches, and I can say, compared to all AEW war games matches, they all had structure and attention to detail, but with AEW there's just too many moving parts and it just reminds me of why I don't watch multiman matches that aren't 2 vs 2 tag matches because there's too much going on, And as for Jim's criticism of fake looking punches, Bobby Heenan was criticizing wrestlers stomping the ground for every punch in the year 2000, so it was bad even then and so I don't get mad about it as much, I mean as a fan who's watched a bunch of UFC fights, Every time Stone Cold ground and pounded Vince it didn't look like he was trying to hurt him, but people gloss over it cause Stone Cold was over...

The best thing about Collision is it being all but guaranteed that Moxley and the Elite will never be there. Might have to be on the lookout for the occasional Orange Cassidy appearance, but it’s fine if that’s all I have to worry about.
