NC slander will NOT be tolerated !!!!!!!
They don’t deserve the hate they get. As an NA man myself I have to admit each generation was an improvement over the last. That being said I wouldn’t trade my NA for an NC mainly due to the pop up up and down headlights.
@@dvulpis29I mean, yeah. But, it's not as iconic as the NA or NB, and I personally like the ND more. But hey, a Miata is a Miata
Shhhh, let em slander it, it’ll keep the parts cheaper for us 😂
Yacht's up! 🛥️
Womp womp
They all belong in S tier except for the Charzard Orange 30th Anniversary edition. That belongs in ♾️ tier. I’d paint my first born child in that color.
I dislike orange but it does look great in person.
The only actually bold color Mazda released the ND with. Isn't that crazy? Everything else is a metallic, mica, or candy (Soul Red Crystal for example). 30th anniversay? IN-YOUR-FACE ORANGE GLOSS.
@@notdaijoubu5062 Soul red is a great color, and honestly snowflake white looks incredible in person
I love it! It’s a really fun car I enjoy driving and looking at. The tiny little “30th anniversary” text on the wheels, the specific number of the side of the car, the orange stitching, it’s really beautiful. I enjoy driving the 30th anniversary every day because it’s just so fun! (Manual RF version btw)
rank every car ever made in a single list
Uhhhhh
@@thecarsmith you can’t?
😭😭😭😭
Prius S tier 🗿
fiat multipla: SS+ tier
all others: F
NC3 is S tier not only in terms of looks (in my opinion) but as a driver’s car in general. Best steering, increased redline from NC1, forged internals, amazing gearbox.
I think im right in saying NC2 and NC3 are the same and the changes are (very nice) cosmetic changes
@@Bally46That is correct, the NC3 is a better looking NC2.
IMO, the NC2 looks better only because of the grill (that plastic lip on top looks like a tooth guard football players wear, and I don't like it)
I am biased but the NC3 is one of the nicest looking mx5s, and has built upon the nc1 and nc2, so deserves a lot higher
@@spencer.178 i have an NC2 and feel the NC3 is a really great looking car. Subtle differences making a big impact
as an ND owner, i approve this message.
Absolute BANGER video tbh, make more tier list videos please, I would love to see BMW M series tier list, keep this thing going
Yes, great suggestions
NC is an underrated gem
Good video, could’ve had some subway surfers but it’s fine
Maybe sum family guy
NC2 also got improvements to the suspension. Imo it’s more substantial than nd1 to 2 since the facelift looks so much better.
Power train revisions are pretty major. Many sold their nd1 at a loss to get a 2019
Nah, nc3 owner here you got it all wrong buddy. There’s no way an nc3 comes in lower than an nc1 💀. It looks better, it’s newer which means more low mile examples and it came with better interior
Lol he didn’t even mention the Club editions as a special edition option & he used an nc2 at 11:25 for the nc3🥲.
Guess we’ll just trade aftermarket 255 squared wheels w/ S2000’s since we both got a 5x144.3 lug pattern and don’t require a Widebody kit to fit em on there w/ our wheel arches WHO’S GOT THE FLAT BODY NOW @TheCarsmith ?! 😎 lol
Design wise, usually pre face, ift are most original idea from designer, facelifts are uaually coopertate decision
@@hs5942 there are some exceptions to this that I can think of off the top of my head
@@hs5942source?
As a fellow NB2 owner, and having driven a NA6 and an NC2, I agree with all of your rankings! Great job!
For North America, you could get cruise, power steering, power windows, and AC as options in a 1990 (mine has all of those). I know from some friends that no European models got AC originally, but I don't know about other options or markets.
criminally underrated video
I loved my NC MX5 so much for ten years. Now I have the 2024 ND. A whole new level of a drivers car while keeping it a real roadster.
I have to mostly agree. I've had over the years an NA6, NA8, and an NB1 SpecEd, and the latter was my favorite of the three (although I dumped much more money into the NA8). I sold my NB in late 2008 after starting a family, and it wasn't until 2019 that I had another roadster in the garage (OTM). Great cars, great ownership experience. ❤
Well done this video was very entertaining
Lets just take a moment to think about how amazing is that Mazda still making fun cars in 2024.
It is like finding an oasis in the desert
NB MX-5 jas always been my favourite generation, also very underrated
I’d love to keep it that way to prevent the “I know how to drift” kids from ruining the name 🙏
Based on this list, I have ONLY owned S-tier Miatas.
I approve, obviously
i started watching video to see the frist gen miata and continued for the editing, it's gorgeous
I really love your ranking car videos the memes make it enjoyable to watch, hope you make a Camaro video someday!
Damn your channel is sick, Honda Civic tier list pls?
On my second ND2 , foolishly sold my 2019 sport , always regretted it so now I’m in a 2023 GT. They’re all special cars. Nothing else compares. That’s why over a million have been sold. Happy with the soft top because I live in a warm climate. The NC retractable hardtop is a great idea I just don’t like the look of the rest of the car. The RF looks awesome but it’s really just a power targa , not getting the full convertible experience just a couple bad blind spots and extra wind buffeting.
But people like different models for different reasons. Those who want a little extra room like the NC . Analog purists the NA and NB and for those that want the more modern refined version the ND. Something for everybody!
As a NA6/NB2/ND2/FD owner, I liked this video!
bros editing is dedication !!!
Can’t wait for the next car tier list next year👍 Do the RX7s…and the 8
Hopefully sooner than that💀
As an NB2 owner I agree
Fun video!!
I didn't used to like the look of NC, but then I saw one in person and I actually liked it a lot. Especially in silver or silver blue, they look delightfully cute
I just absolutely love my 2023 GT RF! I know some pople are disappointed in infotainment system,4 me all i cared about was Bose system (9speakers including a sub woffer) which sounds great! It's a sports car,so too much electronic gagitery would would take away from the sports car experience. (4 me)I fell in love with the looks of the RF version of the car.And the extra weight does not matter 2 me since i don't plan on racing mine on track. My main mods are a GoodWin Racing axcel back exhaust and Michellin PS 5 tires. Did i say how much i love my car? I often go out to my garage just marvel at how beautiful this car is
I daily my NC3 and am very happy with it.
this was one of the funniest videos I've ever seen wtf
Man after driving all the mx-5 models besides the ND, I still prefer the NC. The NA and NB are great, but driving an NC feels amazing. Plus it still has hydraulic steering unlike the ND. The factory power retractable hardtop is so good, you can basically have a hardtop all year round.
nice vid, earned a sub
Appreciate it!
As a current ND2 owner and having previously owned an NB1 and an NC2, I’m pretty aligned with your list. Well done.
Just drove an NA (NA8) and an NB2 a few months back (before buying my ND2).
I like the NB better than the NA and both of them are pretty close to one another and head and shoulders above the NC. Didn’t care for the NC at all (how it looked or drove)…..now if the NC was the only Miata ever produced, I would have liked it, but it falls flat when compared to the others.
I struggle to conclude what I like better between the ND2 and NB. The NB feels more visceral, but the decided power advantage to the ND2 doesn’t suck.
Just glad they keep making these excellent little cars!
Honestly perfect tier list. No notes
W opinion on the NBs (I own an NB1)
The hunter x hunter music was a good choice
I own an NA6 (1990) and NB1 (2000).
The NB has no ABS (at least the base model)
The NB is not the first to get AC or PWS. My NA6 has both from factory.
There were significant changes to the engine on the NB1. To begin, the cam angle sensor turned into a crank angle sensor. The intake port angle was changed on the head of the NB1. The intake was completely redesigned, and the lifters were changed from hydraulic auto-adjusting to shimmed static lifters.
However, besides the intake, the rest of the parts are interchangable. The Skunk 2 intake for this engine supports both heads, which is nice.
Overall, I agree with the list.
The NC is certainly the black sheep. I've also never been a fan. My daily is my NB.
Cheers.
When he mentioned the NB was the first to get AC or P/S, I think he was referring to it coming on the base model
wow i expectet a way bigger community, nice tierlist i agree with you 99% also the editing was good, but what waqs up with the random link that popped up?
What random link?
@@thecarsmith Link from Zelda he just popped up randomly.... With a cannon or something 😂
@@SpoonStars ohhh🤣🤣 he was blowing air into the mic every now and then
As an na6 and nd1 owner i agree
Fiata may be the red headed stepchild, but that Abarth engine…
hell yeah
Nc all the way, amazing car, in almost every way. John
Considering the NA8 had the highly coveted torsen LSD and the 1.8L engine (the first recommended power mod for NA6 owners is to swap in a used NA8 engine by the way) I think the NA6 and NA8 should be reversed at least. You also forgot to cover the NB2 Miata Shinsen. It was similar to the LS with a leather wrapped shift knob and wheel, and cloth interior and came in titanium gray metallic and a few other colors, and the 1.8L VVT BP6
Pretty decent. I'm an NC1 owner and I completely get the looks and do think the NC2 looks better but overall they are very similar performance wise. I think people are misunderstanding your rank on the NC3. The NC3 is a fucking awesome NC but you're right that it really isn't much improvement over the NC2 even aesthetically. I still think all NCs rule although I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of NC2/3 PRHT owners 😂 The best view is from the driverseat anyway though
ND1 should be noted that it had transmission issues, being a downgrade from the NC series in terms of reliability. NCs like NAs and NBs are pretty damn bulletproof. NDs I'm sure are well built as well but it really hasn't had the time to prove it.
Anyway all Miatas are S tier in the realm of all cars on the road. You're really just zooming in on the S tier category.
If you like/drive any miata we can be friends.
I had a NB 1.6 it was a fun daily driver
This video is based on stats and information from mazda,I've owned many mx5s and can clearly say your way out you need to experience them to get the correct rating, I picked my current mx5 based on looks, durabilty, comfort.
Yeah I've only had the chance to drive two but I did say I wasn't an expert
Great review of all the Miatas. Have to say, I think I would agree with your rankings. I have only had na cars. A 90, 92 autocross car, and my beloved 93le. Maybe someday I will get another. Perhaps a 2019 Nd .
Currently drive a 2019 mustang Bullitt with magnaride suspension, and a ford racing upgrade. Springs, sways, and a flash for the computer to adjust the stiffer suspension to the magnaride. Amazing handling for a tubby 😂 3950 lb car😂
My problem with buying a Nd, is that I am looking at around $3000 in suspension, and exhaust upgrades to make the car like I want. We will see.
they all S tier
in this car environment where everyone is compensating for their fragile egos a miata stands out as the DGAF car pure joy always smiling its THA BEST
I have the nicest NA of them all: a 1994 1.8 with a non airbag dash. Beat that!
you should do ranking all Lexus LS
NC2-NC3 should be S tier. Mazda took the good ole hot rodding tricks out the book and rolled with it. Head work with forged internals raised rev limit to 7500ish RPM. Many will argue it is the best all around miata yet. Last of the hydro steering as well. NCs get a lot of hate when they shouldn’t. Love the looks of the ND and ND2 onward took on the same engine updates of the NC2 if I’m not mistaking. Not too sure on forged internals.
NB was the best of times.
LOL the Miata guys out there know we need a year to year list. Short nose to long nose, obd1 to obd2, trunk latch. all kinds of one and dones
Agreed!
Great video, that was fun ! How did the new Miata end up in B tier thoooo
It didn't have much improvement to be honest
Putting the NA6 over the NA8 is crazy,
It’s the same car but better
I mean it makes sense. The NA6s influence changed cars forever. Really hard to beat that alone.
Did the NC3 dirty (owner here). 😂
You should rank all WRX’s and STI’s next
THEY ALL GO IN S TIER
That Mazdaspeed on marketplace was mine. I finally sold it.
Whaaaaaat? The one I clicked on?
@thecarsmith yes. From Sedalia, MO. I've owned it since 2012. Fantastic car, but i blew a rod last year and didn't have the time to work on it, so I had to sell it.
@@ghost21501 that's crazy, what a small world
NC haters hate when you remind them the mazdaspeed was actually heavier lol
This is my obligatory reminder that the NB MazdaSpeed was heavier than the NC soft tops.
I want u to do Lexus next ngl😭
what sense does it make to put the best variant of the nc in the lowest position.....
Because the NC chassis is just a shorter wheelbase version of the rx-8 it actually has the best baseline and ridgidity for handling of all miata generations
Not sure about full on rigidity, but the NB2 had the most bracing from the factory out of any miata. Lots of people aren't a fan of the NC handling due to the multilink suspension setup behaving differently than all the other miatsas
@@graham_lewis the NB needed the bracing because the chassis was more floppy, the nc being a smaller version of a bigger car has a much wider and taller central chassis tunnel which makes it not even feel like a roadster/convertable if you've driven one before. The nc also has arguably the best steering of any generation.
Should have put a viper in for fun(similarities)
Ah yes, the Miata for the comically brave or the chronically suicidal
Dude, that gross and net pay meme is win!
I told my brother "the government stole my viper!" Lol
Evo tier list!
NA6 had cruise control
PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! can you a Nissan z tier list?
I would like to inform you that I touched myself to your video. Quite ‘Skippity” as the kids say nowadays, even made the wife laugh. Dattebayo!
in my opinion Fiata is B-tier, it's basically same modern MX-5 with prettier looks on the outside and T-JET engine in the inside.
Yeah the F was only cause of the name not anything else. That's why I didn't mention it
We could be in a field day if we have to rank BMW M cars (yes I'm talking about those wannabe Mxxx cars too)
US had no 1998 model.
Well, I know people who think the NC is the least feminin looking Miata. The least hairdressers car. I'm happy with my NC1. All I care about is: how does it drive, how does it steer. If it looked like a Fiat Multipla I wouldn't care.
Furthermore: if you want a trunk capacity of more than 1 bottle of wine ...
I wasn't expecting the Fiata (124 Spider) to end up at the bottom, but I respect your opinion given that the bits it borrows with the Miata (MX-5 in the UK) mean that it's hardly the all-Italian icon that the original 124 Spider from the 60s was.
I didnt put it there because I think it's bad, I put it there as an easter egg
@thecarsmith Oh OK I don't blame you
@@thecarsmith The NA & 124 Spyder we agree on. Your praise for Turbo power is well " Overblown " !
im watching this in my nd3 lol
Yo you should rank all Z cars on a tier list
NA6: S tier
NA8: S tier
NB1: S tier
NB2: S tier
NC1: S tier
NC2: S tier
NC3: S tier
ND1: S tier
ND2: S tier
ND3: S tier
124 Spider: F tier
Bro, you forgot the ultra rare factory V8 models only available in Australia
(Im not kidding, mazda actually did this)
Whaaaat, what're they called
Ofc aussies love their v8s
This is 100% not true. I was around when a company on Queensland's Gold Coast was shoehorninng Lexus V8s into the MX5 and it was not one bit endorsed by Mazda. It was not any different an approach than what Flyin' Miata did with the ND/LS Chev transplant, albeit a lot earlier.
The MX5 NB2 SP that was mentioned was developed by a race engineer called Alan Horsely (check the Bathurst-winning 12 hour RX7s in silver with BP decals from the earl-mid 90s) and there were only 100 of these totally brilliant, yet subtle, SPs made, two of which are currently available for sale in Victoria. Both are black and both are asking around $65k Aus $. This SP was, however endorsed by Mazda and warranty provided by Mazda Australia.
NA8 is the best Miata though
Fiata is best miata, cause i’ve got one. (my mom wouldn’t let me get a real miata)
Dude make an Civic list I have an 2008 civic typer
The NA8 has ABS as an option
NA6 had it as an option too
nc is the best
rank every s chassis or every Z
c:
Ok but how you gonna put an nc 1 over an nc 3 🤣
12:38 fouth
ND3 is ND2 with better headlights and infotainment system.
How is it 2 ranks lower?
Honestly... both handle average at best until you put coliovers under them.
NA is best!
NB1 dodge viper
Whats about the Fiata? and the Abartha?
He put it on the bottom tier, the Fiata tier.
Fiat turbo engine / exhaust / body with many interior parts. Mopar branded windows. Mazda infotainment system with Fiat software changes. Mazda suspension parts. The car is a multi Manufacturer project. It drives totally different from a Mazda MX-5 which for some is a plus.
@@ag4allgood I suppose so.
@@CadanHartleyElliott If you want a track car I see why the Fiat 124 Spyder can be preferred. From a stop though there is nothing like the instant throttle response of a naturally aspirated engine with an LSD.
I believe the NC had 167 hp with the manual.
My 97 na has power windows
NB1 is a solid B or C tier just for how ugly it as, and the lack of USEFUL cup holders.
ranking all range rovers now....... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :3
The SP or MPS were European.
Na8 is better than na6 because torsen is very fast compared to open
Except most didnt come with the torsen. Some NA6s also had an LSD, just not quite as good
Now do honda civics plzzz
