    I bought a 2022 Triumph Bonneville T120 a few months back and I absolutely love it! It’s not fast, but it is comfortable and always puts a smile on my face when I ride it. I also have a 2017 Indian Springfield. That’s my out of town bike, while the Triumph is for quick runs in town. That’s how I convinced my wife to let me buy a second motorcycle. Now I’m working on convincing her to let me buy a Janus Halcyon 450 for my birthday in a couple of months. Wish me luck!

    I bought Kawasaki W800 2021. W800’s exhaust sound is amazing. I can’t believe that normal mufflers make it. And W800’s power is suitable for japan’s road I think. I’m really satisfied with this motorcycle.

    i own a triumph thruxton rs. and i have to say if you are looking for classic stlying and feel but modern power and handling it is the one. its faster off the line 0-60 than an R6, and has a supercharger kit that can get you over 180 HP for around 6k. the bike handles like a dream, having the double rear shocks is a downside but they are so well made and when they are dialed it is truely amazing.

    • @dougiequick1
      @dougiequick1 Před 2 lety +5

      It is one of the best looking motorcycle engines and it is hard to understand how BMW resisted angling thier cylinders upwards also....but with that said it has always turned me off that Guzzi failed to keep up with other designs....it rather stagnated if you ask me which is why I could never get too excited about owning one...BMW on the other hand just kept on developing the boxer motors...for example....but whatever I still enjoy seeing Guzzis. Sidenote: The strangest thing that ever happened with this same basic engine layout was Hondas CX500-650.motorcycles...especially later on when Honda took that same motor and rotated it to the conventional Vee orientation of Harley and used it to power thier highly successful 750cc flat track racers! An engine that simply MURDERED the Harleys of the day so badly that Harley had to get the rules changed (Hondas had to run restrictor plates after that) just so Harley could still stand any chance at all! (the day I stoppedpaying attention to both Harley and flat track racing)

    It’s amazing how many cool bikes are on the market now. I have a 2003 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport which was way ahead of this trend and discontinued before the market caught up to the idea. I’m really surprised Guzzi haven’t revived this as even as a 20 year old bike it’s way up there with the 1200 bonnie or Speed twin. I really like the idea of having a less powerful bike too such as the Interceptor / GT or the Gold Star. If BSA get the pricing right it will fly out of the showroom!

      Me too - an Orange Stone like that briefly shown. I love it and think it offers a solid value considering it's made in Italy just like its more expensive Guzzi siblings and has shaft drive. And I believe its range is also the best of the group. I can go at least as far on a tank as I can with my Kawasaki C-14 Concours! While it may not be ideal for extended interstate riding (what modern classic is?) it's perfect for the half-day rides on two lane highways and decently surfaced county roads that I bought it for.

    I would have thought that the Z900RS was a modern retro rather than a modern classic, however it’s certainly got the power, braking and handling, and looks. Some of the other classics like the Enfields are too slow, I know because I’ve ridden them. I’ve owned my Z900RS since 2018 and I doubt I’ll get rid of it. Being the Jaffa color it’ll probably become a classic itself.

    • @davebarclay4429
      @davebarclay4429 Před 2 lety +3

      Each to their own but speed isn't everything. It's also a bit unfair to criticise bikes like the Enfields for not being something they don't set out to be. I've done my time on fast bikes and as an old git I'm deliberately looking for something slower for what will probably be my last bike. My choice is between the Interceptor and the Guzzi V7.

    • @DerpEye
      @DerpEye Před 2 lety

      @@davebarclay4429 It's not only about the speed and power, it's about the engine quality. The valve adjustment intervals on many of these 'old style' bikes are absurd. On the Guzzi it's 10k kms, on the w800 it's 12k kms, and on the Royal Enfields it's the incredibly shitty 5k kms or 1 year. I mean, every other modern engine has minimum 24k kms valve adjustment intervals, which sometimes is 32k or 40k for more advanced engines, like Yamaha CP2/3. I ride the bike all year round, and such short intervals are a no go. As much as i love Guzzi's style, the 10k intervale is just ridiculous if compared with Triumph's 32k.

    • @verkpunk
      @verkpunk Před 2 lety +1

      Fit and finish. From what I can tell the speed twin skimps on some component quality in exchange for performance. I just test rode a t120 today and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I just assumed it ran similarly to a cruiser but it's definitely more fun imo. I'm going to test a speed twin tomorrow.

    You could buy a very decent classic motorcycle for the prices being asked for these new replicas. But whereas these `modern classics' will go down in price, a genuine classic will be an appreciating investment.

      Hi Ted, I have a 22 year old Kawasaki ZRX 1100 that I bought three years ago for £2500. I rides beautifully, looks awesome and will never be worth less than I paid for it. Its for keeps...but somehow I need to justify to my wife that I also need to buy a Z900 RS. But you are right it will depreciate over time.

    It will sell and sell and sell wherever it is available. Those big expensive GS BIKES HAVE HAD THEIR DAY and unless you are globe trotting these are more practicable and user friendly for most living in the real world as they offer the most amount of fun to be had and can take their average guy anywhere he or she are likely to want to go. Good luck to BSA , I think they have balanced it just about right. There will be plenty of extras available to personalise an owners bike.

    If you want to put the miles on, get the zed 900. I've just put 5K on mine and don't regret the decision. I think a lot of the others, except for the 1200 Triumph are good for beginners. But for me the lack of horsepower would get old fast.
