    I dislike the idea of a hybrid tote too, but these last two hybrids in this video are gorgeous. I'd be comfortable making either of them a daily driver, even though the backpack straps look a little tacky

    • @RushfasterTV
      @RushfasterTV  Před rokem

      Hi there! By design it was a "tote" as it was primarily carried by hand, but it has been customized since for efficiency and convenience, by adding more features to carry it as a backpack or a sling.

    I didn't end up loving the Peak Design tote. It was too bulky and stiff. I felt it was uncomfortable to carry because of that. I would avoid it unless you need serious protection for camera gear. Really well engineered otherwise.

    These selections are just.... bad. The Bellroy one is probably the only one that makes sense. I mean, you've got the ones from Dsptch, Filson, the Porter Heat line, Defy, etc.. etc..

    • @RushfasterTV

      Those are some good options, but they don’t all have laptop sleeves, which is one of our criteria for an EDC tote.

    I need to hear from someone that actually uses a tote. Not a backpack, not a single strap sling, not a messenger bag.
    A tote.
    What do you like about this style of bag? In what ways do you use it? Do you commute on public transit? Bike? Walking? How does it feel when it’s loaded up and you carry it?
    This seems to be the worst possible carry option. I think I would rather go with a lumbar bag (giant fanny pack).
    I can’t imagine not only using the worst possible layout for your stuff, but also paying a lot to do it.
    Someone help me understand.

    • @HarimaKenji22
      @HarimaKenji22 Před rokem +1

      I think when he mentioned using a tote because of not wanting to wrinkle your suit or ensemble makes sense. I agree it can really get heavy but hybrid ones do quite well in backpack mode. Just what I experienced with the bellroy tokyo tote

    • @RealFableFox
      @RealFableFox Před rokem +1

      As per the video, sometimes its to be used when you are using non normal suits. From my experience of observing others - mostly used when either using public transportation or car - as these are not safe when using with bicycle or motorcycles. Also not to carry heavy stuff - but maybe big (but not heavy) stuff like gifts such as frames, etc. Don't expect 90L tote bag unlike hiking bags.
      From my observation of my surrounding usually used by older woman - and they own cars. Due to their nature, might easy for pick pocket when used in public transportation - tote with lockable zip (like pacsafe) might be preferred. And to be used from location to location, home-car-office/etc. and not to be used for prolonged time.
      As for the price - sometimes it paid for style. For example ( which I seen) it used when someone going to a wedding or party. Wallet + larger item (eg: ipad) will go into tote, and once arrived, based on safety - either leave the tote in car or by/at the chair and just carry the wallet around. Like I said, for style. You don't want to wear cool dresses + 30L unmatching bag pack into a wedding party. Even for the short distance - hall to chair - you just want to look good.
      From my observation.

      As a person who occasionally uses a tote, i can honestly say it's more of a bag you use when you have to run out and do a bunch of errands. Not like 1 or 2 errands, but a bunch of them that is going to take a chunk of your time. It carries just enough of your edc basics but none of the gear (or at the very least your powerbank). It works as a grocery bag when you are only buying a few items or a bag to dump a bunch of stuff for a quick picnic. I know it has all the same function as a regular backpack, but I would use my edc backpack strictly for the purpose i bought it for. Think of it this way. An edc backpack with all your stuff is for your working weekday and a tote is for the weekend market. Would you bring a laptop, a camera, and all the gear to the market when all you are getting is a bunch of produce and dinner for latter? A tote isn't meant to be a professional bag unless it is styled to be one like that Harber London Bag. (Looks cool but I can only see a very narrow number of people who would use this).

    I don’t care what anyone says - I’m not putting a beverage inside a tote bag with my electronics.

    • @RushfasterTV
      @RushfasterTV  Před 2 měsíci

      Absolutely understandable. It's crucial to keep electronics safe from any potential spills or leaks. An EDC backpack would be a more suitable option for carrying both your electronics and beverages separately, ensuring the safety of your devices. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
