  • Erik ten Hag is in results mode. Nothing else matters, but it will do to Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS and Omar Berrada and I really do think he needs to tweak his system because it feels like he's on a bit of a collision course. Let me explain.

      I was talking during the game and i think we need to move to a 4-2-2-2 formation to try and take more control over the game whilst being more solid. I know MU has a history of wingers but we need to change to a formation that allows us to be more difficult to play against. Players like Rashord or Garnacho could play as 2nd strikers.

  • @hotbluelegend
    @hotbluelegend Před měsícem +1

    My observations/problems with the squad:
    Victor Lindelof: Not physical enough as a center-back in a league known for its physicality.
    Harry Maguire: Physically imposing but very slow. Lacks agility and cannot recover once forwards get past him.
    Aaron Wan-Bissaka: Solid defensively and very good in one-on-one situations but offers nothing going forward; cannot put a decent cross even if his life depended on it.
    Scott McTominay: Has an eye for goals but lacks ability on the ball. Is easily dispossessed, cannot carry the ball, extremely bad at passing.
    Bruno Fernandes: Chance creator but has an extremely selfish and predictable style of play. Loses possession very cheaply. Moans constantly on the pitch.
    Marcus Rashford: Only has blistering pace. Does not track back, cannot hold the ball, loses possession often and never contests arial duels - again very selfish and predictable style of play.
    I don't want to diss Raphael Varane and Casemiro but it is evident that they are way past their prime and have no hunger after winning everything in Madrid and are here for the fat paychecks only. And who would blame them?
    Watching ETHs style of football at Ajax, it is evident that the players mentioned above, talented as they may be, do not suit his philosophy. Unfortunately, ETH is forced to use them as key players either due to injury or due to abysmal recruitment. A good way to see if any of the above-mentioned players belong at United under ETH is to ask yourself if any of them would feature in a Pep or a Klopp team. Heck even Arteta, De-Zerbi, Postecoglou or Pochettino would not field these players in their squad. The current United squad still reeks of Ole's vision. Ole wanted to build a low-blocking counter attacking team centered around Bruno and Rashford. That is exactly what United has been for the past two years under ETH.
    On top of that I blame the fans as well. We are so blinded by jealousy of City and Liverpool that we do not see the problem. Being the "Glory Hunters" that we are, so addicted to success, that winning a FA Cup or a Carabao Cup or playing Champions League seems like an achievement - like a dopamine hit to a drug addict. Success takes time. Unless ETH has players suited to his philosophy, willing to do the hard work for his tactic's day in and day out, for every game of the season (not just the occasional clash against Liverpool), it is not going to work. No matter who the manager is, it is not going to work.

    Are our performances coming from individual player efforts than a functioning playing style? Yes. Is that what ETH would ideally want and was building up to? Absolutely not.
    But it is what it is right now with what he's given. And I think he's in a position where is very little room to let the few performing players get demotivated by saying something potentially risky to the press. ETH has had enough trouble with them already.
