Good point on the gasket on the filter. Made that mistake once and there was oil all over the engine compartment on my boat. Major mess to clean up! I have a PCM 6.0 ZR6 ... Basically the same set up.
Thanks. It’s getting harder and harder for me to fish that tube down through the stern drain plug hole. I bought a dipstick tube suction pump. Gonna try it and see if it’s harder or easier. Will put the update on the description here next time I do it.
Great video - I bought the same pump and going to change the oil on my Vi22 PCM 409 this weekend. As a side note, 35 years ago I had an oil filter blow a seal on a toyota truck, seized the engine. Toyota was able to get the filter company to pay for a new engine.
Thanks! I can’t believe the filter manufacturer paid ! Maybe I had a defective one too.
How do we know when these boats are level to check the oil?
Would a level on the inside floor give the proper oil level reading on the dip stick?
Thank you for the videos. How high is your garage door? We have an 8’ door and we’re looking at an fi23 and the boat won’t fit through the door even with the tower down.
Yeah so I had an 8’ door to (although the opening wasn’t even that much). What I did was cut a little drywall out above the door opening on the inside of the garage. There, I found that there was a false header instead of the main beam. So I was able to cut that false header (a 2x6) out and go all the way up to the beam with the opening and install trim against that. Gave me an extra foot. I added a panel to the top of the garage door to make a 9’ door. Then swapped out the old door opener for one of those low clearance side mount openers. However- the newer boats are even taller and will not fit under.
Thanks for this video, it helped a bit. FYI, I don't think the newer 6.0 GM block runs on 15-40.
You’re welcome. Thanks for the feedback. My 2018 manual specifies 15-40. But I don’t know what the newer Centurion manuals say.
What size is the fuel hose? It comes in various sizes at some stores.
I’d take whatever fitting you have in with you since you may not have the exact same size fitting as me. Also there’s different types of hose. You want one that’s a bit more flexible than one that’s too stiff.
