    Just did my ZR6 PCM oil change last week on my ole 08 SAN 230. Had more access room. I did warm up the motor in advance to allow for easy drainage. I didn't have an extractor. That 15-40 oil doesn't like to drain when cold. But it does come out nicely when hot without a pump. I tried a drill pump once.... What a mess and it didn't work well. Got my filter from Napa. All good. 950 hrs on the motor when I did it.

    Love your channel. For even easier/ less messier oil changes I got a barbed fitting with a hose clamp to attach to the hose in my oil pump then got a female to female fitting so that it can be treaded directly to the oil drain hose

      @@wake_mann the dealer said the 25hr service was an oil and filter change. Is the transmission fluid also recommended?

      @wake_mann  Před rokem

      @jaylarson4465 I would have to check the manual but I believe it is a step to change Trans fluid at break in service.

    Just did a tune up too! I went with a self lubricating blue impeller that supposedly can run 15mins dry!!!( not that I’ll ever test that). And my boat specs a weird weight that only comes in dino or semi synthetic… so I run the full synthetic 5w40 amsoil…
    Amsoil is the only brand of oil we used in our planes. If go up to the edwards jet center, in their shop… you’ll see its the only oil they use too. And good job doing this yourself.

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 2 lety

      Nice, amsoil must be a good oil.

    Are you not able to gravity drain the oil pan on this one if you didn't want to buy the extractor pump? I run that drain hose down through my plug hole on my old direct drive, is that not a viable option on your v drive?

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 2 lety +1

      Out of the 2 Nautique's I've owned this is not possible as Nautique only has 1 center drain and no rear drain. The pigtail does not reach. I was able to gravity drain on all of the Malibus I owned though.

    WM - Thanks for these videos. Can you please do raw water impeller and ballast pump impellers someday 😁

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 2 lety

      Yw, I will definitely do a raw water impeller this winter but hoping I never need to do a ballast impeller, haha.

  • @joetaber8259
    @joetaber8259 Před 2 lety

    WM - If this is your break in (first 25 hour) service, I think it’s really important for you to do one important item. Check your drive alignment. The engine mounts settle in quickly (heat and vibration) and can cause a mis alignment. Your v drive bearings will thank you down the road.

    Does doing your own oil change void the warranty?

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 2 lety

      Valid question. I think it could void your warranty if you screw up your engine and its obviously from your maintenance, otherwise it should not.

    • @joetaber8259
      @joetaber8259 Před 2 lety +1

      WM - Google: Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against federal law for car dealers or warranty providers to deny a claim or void a warranty because vehicle maintenance was performed by the owner.Dec 15, 2021. You can check if this applies to boats but i think it does.

    It's cool that you do all this yourself, we aren't brave enough haha! Not related, but we are currently searching for a prop. Heard so many mixed opinions lol and am very conflicted. Rewatched your prop video and it helped, so thanks! In your past experiences, how long has it taken you to get your prop from wakemakers?

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 2 lety +1

      I had to get comfortable with it because it's that or miss a week or 2 or maybe more of riding. Awesome my prop video helped you. As long as wakemakers has the prop in stock, I would expect it to be able to get to you within a week.

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  Před 2 lety +2

      Certainly big enough for me at 3600 ft. Many people confuse ballast capacity and people capacity. Ballast is people replacement weight. If you load your boat up with max people capacity and max ballast capacity and expect your boat to perform well you are thinking incorrectly. My G23 with the ZZ6 has 3500 lbs below deck ballast plus my 150 lbs of wife and daughter and does very well while creating huge wakes and waves.
