"My Cousin Vinny" is a 1992 American comedy-drama film directed by Jonathan Lynn. The movie stars Joe Pesci as Vincent "Vinny" Gambini, a brash, inexperienced lawyer from New York who travels to a small Southern town to defend his cousin Bill (played by Ralph Macchio) and Bill's friend Stan (played by Mitchell Whitfield) who are wrongfully accused of murder. Marisa Tomei won an Academy Award for her role as Mona Lisa Vito, Vinny's sassy and knowledgeable fiancée. The film is a blend of courtroom drama and comedy, as Vinny, who has never tried a case before, goes up against the local judicial system, using unconventional methods to prove his cousins' innocence.
