    I do love the really old school trucks and I'm glad it's still on the road and working truck aswell i would love to own a scammel truck

    wow its a shame the detriot wasn't a succes in the UK we had 290 rollers in ours

      The Detroit engine was a totally different way of driving compared to what the poms were used to which is why they never caught on.
      The 290 hp Rolls-Royce would've gone okay. Was that turbo or supercharged?

      Noisy fuming engine in a much more densely populated country? No I don't think that was the way forward. We had 2 local regular trucks with Detroit. Exciting to hear for the first few times and not heard often enough to be a nuisance. I can't imagine what it would have been like in large numbers. More of a shame that Leyland, Gardner and Rolls all slipped away due to many reasons.
