Heavy Haulage of Giant Tank Gone Wrong!
Vložit
- čas přidán 23. 07. 2020
- The heavy haulage of two CO2 gas tanks from the Barlage company in Haselünne to Dörpen was ill-fated from the start. The transport first attracted attention because of halved trees in the city of Sögel. Later the first gas tank tipped over shortly after passing this point and landed on the field next to the road. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
The transport of the two gas tanks originally started on February 24, 2020 and could only be completed on March 29 after the salvage.

- how the tank falls (to be fair it might be hard to catch)
- how the tank was put back (no excuse for this one)

Only 5 times? Keep trying. Contact them and ask if you can do work experience, show a keen interest and if possible, get to know some of the people who work there.
It wasn't Mammoeth that dropped the load, it was MAN, as shown on the front. Guess the customers were trying to save a few Euros and regretted every second of it.

Try your luck with Wagenborg, they can teach you how to deliver large alloy tanks.

I respect truck drivers who pulls heavy loads like this. It’s a incredible skill.
All they have to do was drive...I mean, they were driving on an open road going slow. If they did a drift like Fast & Furious..then that's an incredible skill.
i do not see the skill is driving at tractorspeed , all the wagenborg crew had to observe was the angle of carrier , everyone knows if you get over or near tipping you can adjust it so it never rolls off

The guy steering the second trailer was negligent and allowed the unit to go too far to the left causing it to leave the load-bearing center of the roadway.
I have participated in multiple moves like this in different roles, encountered multiple different challenges, but never have I had this kind of outfall. Challenges I have had have included construction of temporary paths, cutting of power and telephone lines, shuting down power plants, closing of motorways. The planning and execution of these operations are a huge task, including a lot of people, various governmetn agencies, engineering, and some pretty steep fees.

Good to see lots of ‘experts’ in the comments section. 🙄🙄🙄
If you look closely at the footage of the tank falling and the people standing on the side you can clearly see that it was very windy. I think that is what caused it to topple. Too much side wind over a large exposed area.

@@terryhites1 Not completely true, Mammoet does have a rental fleet. Wagenborg Nedlift did organise the salvage and further transport.
Being a logistics person, my opinion is that- Considering the big Diameter side by side Axles are needed to be used to avoid this accident
That really depends in center of gravity, but ny the looks of these tanks I'd say center of gravity was so high that 4-file trailers should have been used instead of the 2-file used during this move. Guessing 4-file had been considered and the decision to go for 2-file was due to ground-level obstacles along the route.
I tried to count the tires on this rig. Came up with about 360 give or take. Amazing!!
Me too, unbelievable!
Just stop at 3.36 and look. 120 per trailer. It has 2 of them so 240+the tractor . Not even close to 360.
And each wheelset has it's own suspension! And it can even be controlled if needed.

Looks like the tilt of the road caused the tank to tip over, or the supports on the trailers weren’t able to withstand the bending moment caused by the tilted tank.
Guess it’s the latter. Many things to consider during preparations…
If you look at the initial trailer set up, they were relying on narrow spaced bolt downs to hold the tank. 2:40 The torque of the wide, heavy tank must have snapped the bolt down on a slightly tilted road. It was faulty engineered tie down bolted system
Nice transportation system 👍👍👍👍 it's very deficult to transport such long vessel, it's very good system 👍🔥

Muito BACANA .Tem q ter muita habilidade pra esse serviço.
That is one hell of an impressive semi I have never seen that many wheels
that is not even semi if you would think of words
Normally these trailers would have hydraulic leveling fitted - either it wasn't fitted or wasn't working or being used (which is very strange). When they move houses on these multi-wheel trailers, the computer controlled hydraulic leveling keeps the trailers dead horiztonal regardless of what the road is doing.
You're right.
The SPMT’s (Self Propelled Modular Transporters) were not suitable for this job.
Apa yang Anda
pikirkan?
It’s a good system but operator adjustments can make or break a transport.
It’s apparent that the lead bogey operator raised/lowered the wrong Grouping coming out of the corner or failed to even make an adjustment . This caused the loads COG to shift to the low side of the corner and past the overturn limits and tipping angle of that suspension configuration. 4-Point suspension is great for fine adjustments for High COG however experienced operators need to know when and where to adjust
As a trailer operator myself, it would be interesting to know what was going on. Bar Pressure for each of the 4 Groupings on each bogey when the incident occurred. As much as a fuck up as this was, it’s a good lesson to prevent this from happening in the future
Axle hydraulic ..
Привет с Алтая.Удачи.

Looks like it is early or late winter the ground all through out the area looks very wet, wheels may have gotten a little close to the road edge and the ground gave way under the weight.
I'm not an expert, but just by looking at the thing I instantly have a bad feeling about it... And there you go! Why can't these engineers figure that out?
After seeing that this tank can fall off these trailers that easily the guys walking along side of it are either really brave or really stupid. I know that they’re controlling the trailers’ steering, but maybe doing from a different location may be prudent.
The tank did not fall off. The SPMT dropped off the road...
More importantly, why do they allow spectators so close to the vehicle while it's moving?
