Per Paytm's announcement on their app, grace period to spend/deposit is till 29th of feb. However, you can withdraw your money after 29th feb as well.

The reason for failure is that Indian startups are not moving fast and innovating. The mantra we use is 'fake it till you make it' . I am developer working in multiple startups. I have not seen a glimpse of innovation other than Hire fast fire faster

You should host more conversations around finance and economy. Loved the deconstruction and sequence of the entire episode.. infographics can add to capturing audience..
On RBIs action, I believe they did the right thing at the right time. Regulation in fintech has to be on point. RBI sending a clear message to current and upcoming players in this industry to take compliances very seriously… That’s how u establish the governance and institutional effectiveness for a reliable financial system.

Paytm is facing this tussle with RBI since 2017 and PM CARES came in picture in 2020. There are genuine problems in the way Paytm is functioning which needs to be addressed. Don’t let your ideology blur your objectivity.🍻

You can innovate as much as you like unless you are a bank. Once you are a bank but you cant flout rules and regulation set by RBI.

RBI is a regulator amd it is doing its job. Cant understand why the media or startups should expect anything else. They are not here to support new business ideas and innovation in business, they are here to regulate banking operations. People should understand the role that every organization has. RBI is doing a fantastic job and we should be supportive as citizens that we are protected with good governance of this institution.

RBI should allow other payments portal or payments Bank in line with Paytm so that there is no partiality.

  • @russkane

Inspite of the RBI comments, the Paytm model is a systemic risk, which will play out if the company devolves. What remains to be seen is the whether the response of the authority to a recalcitrant first mover is justified for the pain that it will visit on all the stakeholders. That isn't a measurement that the RBI would have mathematically made. Either their transactions were fraudulent ...or not. Its digitally auditable so hindsight is 20:20. More than we can say for most banks. Its a sad day for the RBI.

PayTM lucked out at the time of demonetization. Without that they would not have grown as it did. If I'm not mistaken, they won't be making money for a long time to come and is in existence purely on the funding it received. This has nothing to do with not being pro innovation.

I welcome the RBI actions, despite communcation from RBI if PayTM did not follow compliance with KYC then I believe some #MoneyLaundering would have hsppened
I am surprized by ur words of trying to paint RBI as villan for just following its regulation duty

I don't think she is saying RBI is the villain at all. I felt she is saying they let the problem continue and the size of the impact is bigger than it should have been. She also says in the end there are other startups and how will RBI monitor them as clearly they are growing faster and doesn't have the compliance focus like traditional banks.

Reality is Ambani invested money in Paytm initially. Now he is taking back patm with cheap rate and later he will show 400 or 800 percent increased. Ambani and adani become super rich by doing this kind of cheating with the help of corrupt Congress and bjp parties. Only AAP led by kejriwal can punish theses criminals
