One thing I'd like to point out, Jennifer Kesse was most likely required to undergo a background check in order to rent an apartment.
The safety of the individuals living in that community should have been priority #1. The owners of the apartment complex should be held accountable for their gross negligence.

It always amazed me the police will tell you that the first 24 hours are the most important hours, then they tell you to wait the person just ran away or is out cooling down.

Indeed. But that primarily relates to situations where they know someone has been abducted, and particularly children. If the police went all out every time some adult was missing for a few hours then they'd literally be doing nothing else.
@@simonw1313 people don’t understand this because they only see the instances where there was a delay in investigating and then there was a bad outcome. No one sees the tens of thousands of “missing people” that resolve themselves by just waiting a few hours. It’s definitely a problem and as a former cop I remember clearly that we investigated immediately in cases where the evidence seemed like something sketchy happened, but that took a backseat to other more life/death calls that had to be dealt with - like domestics violence, robberies, fatality car wrecks, shootings, etc. It’s simply a matter of having enuff resources to send out a detective every single time - but then again, most issues with law enforcement come down to lack of time/money to train effectively, but hood equipment, deploy officers every time you’d like to, etc.
People that have never done the job forget cops are just real people at work with the constraints that every other human has of time , money, resources
@@WideAwakeHuman - Totally. It's easy to decide in hindsight that this case should have been went after with a load of resources but at the time it looked like ten thousand other cases where the person thought missing comes home safe and sound.
I mean it's not like her house was busted open, or three was blood in the house or outside it. There was no signs of anything untoward happening. The only cases I'd throw resources at immediately without evidence of a disturbance/crime are when young children go missing.
The mgmt of the condo complex should be sued for negligence.
Security was their selling point. Some women complained about the workers living on the grounds.
A former housekeeper id'd the photo as Chino.
A group of workers occupied a unit across from Jennifer.
And yet, the mgmt has no records of those people living & working at their complex?!
I lived for 20 years in a similar type condo. Condo management was shoddy the whole time. SMH

I would have complained to the stakeholders, and had the onsight management team fired.
I am hopeful that the family will take legal action against the owner/stakeholders for negligence and anything else that would be applicable.
What was very interesting to me, was the former housekeepers identification of Chino. Even if he was not involved, the housekeeper put that person (on video) in the same category as maintenance workers.
A lot of these places hire illegal immigrants to care for the gated community they probably paid them below minimum wage since they lived in the empty apartments
100% correct....and I guarantee you that the transient construction workers living unsupervised all over the complex were involved!!!!

Just a public service announcement for everyone : I live in Florida and every neighborhood and condo is gated. (Seemingly) And lots have security guards. I’ve never not been able to get through a gate. It’s super easy. Don’t think because you live in a gated community that you are any safer. Don’t let your guard down. That type of “security” is an illusion.

That statement is pure nonsense... Every obstacle in someone's path to committing a crime is a deterrent .. If your logic made any sense, then why put doors on your house since people can kick it down or a windows, or a gun since they can ambush you? stop with the pee brain nonsense. I guess a cop patrolling the neighborhood dont make it safer since criminals can always wait until he leaves or on the other side of the neighborhood and then act.

Yep. I was a delivery driver for six years in both Florida and Arizona where so many communities are gated, but probably 90% of the gate keypads use the same generic codes or code patterns that are easy to guess. In the rare case that doesn't work you can just wait off to the side for the next person to come and follow them in, lol. If there's a guard, they're usually an elderly person working alone who can't hear what you're saying and can't see your license plate. Imo gates are more of a status symbol and have nothing to do with actual safety. Or, as the old joke goes, the gates keep the crazies IN instead of out.
@@shimmeringchimps3842 you are right about the status symbol. The retired people in my neighborhood banned together and clamored for a gate. Why? People who didn’t live there were walking in the neighborhood. 😂 It’s a beautiful waterfront community with a park on the water. People would take their after dinner stroll and view the water. They never did anything wrong. But they didn’t PAY to live there.
The wannabe gatekeepers shut up really quickly when I pointed out that if we put up a gate all of our streets became private. And that meant that the homeowners were responsible for upkeep and maintenance. No more phone calls to the city for repairs. But they really shut up when I pointed out how much their dues would be because they wanted private streets.
Turns out they loved money more than exclusivity! Every few years the idea comes up again but once I point out the increased dues no one wants a gate anymore.
Gated communities are really pointless but people do like them because they appear “posh”. I’ll never understand this phenomenon. 🤷♀️
I never realized so many people are murdered until I started watching these types of programs. I was so trusting as a very young person.
It’ll seem like a lot more than it actually is if you watch these programs all the time, that’s just pretty much natural. Whatever happens in life try not to completely lose your trust, because to be vulnerable in the most genuine way is to truly live and connect fully with others and to deny yourself of that is really pretty sad in a way

@@missruzl14 I think that's one the best part about these programs. They teach you to be aware of your surroundings and less naive. While also raising awareness for what happened to the victims.
I was raised in Orlando and lived there nearly all my life. Jennifer Kesse disappeared when I was in high school. My very protective Mother refused to allow me to take a job once because it was located near the area Jennifer went missing. Her story truly haunted the entire city. Posters of Jennifer are still up throughout the area. My heart will always be heavy about this case.
Like I said, it ain't their family member missing. If some cop went missing, do you think they would of taken the situation just a little more seriously, every cop in the State of Florida would of been hunting for him on day one of the disappearance. Don't you get the picture now?

Wonder if she was fed to an alligator. Best way to get rid of a body in Florida. If you live in Hawaii it would be a volcano. Dumping the body at sea works too as long it is way out so the sharks can take care of it and never washes to shore.

It's been 17 years and still nothing. It's so sad and scary that someone can be a victim of such a heinous crime and there be no evidence for 17 years and counting. I pray the family finally gets answers
50% of murders in America go unsolved. 80% of missing people are never found. Statistically it's "normal". On a personal level it's devastating.

The apartment complex should be held responsible for not having paperwork on the construction workers when they were not only working there but living there as well.
Right. Fairly sure it was their worker. They facilitated him (? +) with accommodation, access to the residents, departure without records, and no employee data.
Her abductor walked in the direction of her apartment because he was going back to work at the construction site. He is wearing painter's clothes.

If her abductors stayed and lived in those apartment units, they have definitely left more than enough dna inside those rooms. It really infuriates me that nobody talks about taking dna samples of the rooms. Do those 16,000 pages include dna samples of the rooms???????? 😡

An upscale gated community hiring illegal immigrants is a little surprising to me, but nearly all of the different apartment complexes that I've lived in had a crew of illegal immigrants that lived on the property that would do make-readies. Amazingly, the federal and local law enforcement officials never seem to punish the companies that knowingly hire these criminals.

This happens everywhere. We have traveled my entire life and I have stayed in thousands of hotels, they always allow construction workers to stay in vacant rooms. When I was 10, my mom's friend went down to thw lobby (in the early 90's) and was grabbed by 2 men, beat and raped. We called the police after an hour and they never checked the parking lot. She was there the entire time. She showed back up hurt and we took her to the hospital. The van was gone after the let her out. They said it was some of the workers. Never allow anyone e to walk around a hotel alone at night. So dangerous

Out of all cold cases this is the one I hope is finally solved. Growing up in Orlando and seeing her face posted on every corner (still so many posters to this day) has always haunted me. Sending my utmost support to the Kesse family + friends, and their never-ending search for Jennifer despite so many difficulties with the investigation and OPD. The people of Orlando are here for you, hopefully this is the year that justice is finally served ❤
I grew up in the area as well (East Orlando) and this scared us so badly. I remember seeing her image everywhere. I pray they find her one day.

Have some humility OR do your own policing. This crime would have been EASILY SOLVED, they already have video of the person driving her car. A short guy wearing painter outfit. How many painters who are under 5' 5 are out there? They can line up all the construction worker, narrow down the height that matches, and interrogate them against each other. Easy fix. Attitude is EVERYTHING in life. Not just towards police, but towards everyone including delivery drivers, nurses, etc. Treat them with respect and they'll return the favor. You don't want to be humble? Stop asking for their help.
My mother has been missing from Denison Texas for 9 years. Basically all of the information they have is from me. They haven’t done anything. They think that since it’s been 9 years, it’s irrelevant. So disheartening and disturbing for my family. I don’t think we will ever seek closure. The sergeant actually told me to my face “i know your angry, I understand your pain and what you are going through”, ugh yeah okay.

@@just.j5302 There’s nothing we can really do about it. There’s a Texas Ranger that is “assisting” with the case. Nothing has been done though. I’ve done everything I can do. We also don’t have 25k+ to hire a private investigator and a reward.

My dad was a truck driver growing up. When we first moved to Orlando, he actually met someone close to the Kesse family and put her missing poster on his truck for years. It really kills me to know nothing has progressed since ‘06. We need to put this case under a microscope

I came to Orlando in 2011, a police officer approached my table at a restaurant I was at and asked if Ive ever seen her. He gave me a card with all her information on it. I can honestly say, after becoming a resident I realize this is one of the few cases the Orlando police actually kept searching for, even years later.
That one girl LET Chino into her house, and he sat on her couch?! Baby girl, stop being nice to everyone.

I agree. I was just thinking the same thing. Cops did not do their jobs. I realize They can only do so much and they need leads and the publics help. I also think it was one of those workers. I remember watching this video before and i thought it was that boyfriend, but i dont think he did it. Oh ya, Chino.
When the brother said the workers weren't very helpful and annoyed, if he told the cops, they should have worked right then.

My nephew was born just 3 days after she disappeared just a few miles away from where he lived and I came to visit and her posters were EVERYWHERE the eyes could see. Her friends and family and strangers made it difficult to go anywhere without seeing her posters. My nephew is almost an adult and its so hard to believe she has never been found or anyone who has been held accountable. She was such a beautiful woman with such a brilliant future and taken away from world too soon. I pray one day she is found.
I was in Orlando too in 2006 and especially on the West side I remember seeing those flyers all over the place and her smile always stood out so much. Her face has never left my memory 😢

The detectives should have rounded up all those workers. They failed this family. Whoever let those workers stay in that apartment has blood on their hands because they allowed them to stay there. My heart goes out to the parents, brother and friends. Heartbreaking 💔
The workers had motive, access, a secluded location and the means to dispose of her body. I'm confident one or more of them are responsible for her death.

I believe the person who took her, watched her and knew her every move. Her family said she was always safe, called her family while walking to her car at anytime of the day. I pray she is found and brought home so her family can grieve her

This case has haunted me for years. I pray they can find her one day. Her parents are an example of pure love and resilience. They are not giving up on their fight to find her.
You are not alone. I lived close to Jennifer and it still haunts me.
I live in Maine and there's still a missing 3 year old girl named Ayla Reynolds from about 8 years ago who hasn't been found, and she went missing in the middle of the night from her parents home, and I do believe one of the parents is responsible for her death because toddlers just don't up and dissappear from their homes while everyone is sleeping, especially without any noises being made, and it bothers me to this day that her body still hasn't been recovered.

Me too. I was moving to Orlando that year and remember always been impressed with the beauty of her face. She was so young and had everything going for her. I couldn’t believe how days then years kept passing and the case was never resolved. No important clues, no suspects. Nothing! How? Why?

I lost my daughter 2002. It is the worst pain you will ever feel. You lose the very soul within you. Noone understands the loss of a child until you go through it! I really pray for this family to have some closure. This breaks my ❤ ✝️

When you hear about the lack of proper investigation by law enforcement in the initial days of the case, it’s truly shocking and disheartening. This family deserves better. Our communities deserve better.
To think that only 1% of cold cases get solved....really frightening. Poor family.
Hopefully that number will increase with all of these advancements in DNA. These criminals who think they have gotten away with their crimes should be watching their back😏
@@goldiebelle. This is not a joke. In Mexico we have a rate of 98% impunity. That's why we receive courses about security in our homes. Nobody is allowed to have a gun in Mexico, so we have bats, knives, etc. Well, you can have an old and not useful at all resemblance of a gun which equals no gun.

I’m assuming that damp towel in the bathroom was not seized as evidence. Another woman commented that she had come home one time and it appeared that someone had showered in her shower. The parents commented that when they got to the apartment the shower was wet and the towel was damp. How much time had passed since Jennifer would have gotten ready for work that morning? Should the shower have been dry by then? I’m just wondering if someone other than Jennifer showered in that shower.......

YES, I think that it's entirely possible that the killer could have taken a shower, and not Jennifer. If they were on the ball, they should have checked that bathroom and the towel for DNA. If the towel is in evidence (which it SHOULD be!) they need to have it analyzed.

I believe the crime took place in her apt.
Someone who is familiar with a nearby complex to dump her car, and used lunch time to do so.
Once I heard the family used her apt as a command center, I knew the scene was ruined.
What a heartbreaking story. This poor girl. It’s horrible to think you’re safe at home when there’s really danger lurking around you in every corner.
I'm not from the US but I remember my mother always used to say to me and my sister to not walk alone near a construction site when we were children.
Later looking back during my more idealistic years during college I used to think how prejudiced that advice was.
Nowadays being an adult with more experience I finally can understand how right she was.
I hope the family can m find justice, Jennifer seemed like such a great girl.
That's the problem, everybody's so concerned with being called racist or whatever else, they ignore things and needlessly put themselves in danger.
I'm a grown man with a wife and 2 kids, I'm going to teach, mainly my daughter, that she absolutely needs to judge people.
Don't treat somebody badly because they MIGHT do something, but *always always always* keep it in your mind, as to be prepared.
People don't want to work construction because it's generally very hard work, but it pays well, so the industry gets filled with the outcasts that can get a good job even with a background.
Not every construction worker is a criminal, not every criminal is violent, and not all violent criminals are always looking to hurt somebody.
Astute observations based on evidence aren't any "ism" it's strictly self preservation, critical thinking, and logical reasoning.
Again, do not treat someone badly because they MIGHT do something, but always expect statistics to be accurate.

When Jennifer went missing, I lived in a gated condo community. I lived there with my son who was in college, and was gone during the week, and only home on weekends. I started having an uneasy feeling because of some of the neighbors would hang out in the parking lot, one of them once followed me to my front door, and just casually walked by. I knew he was looking to see what unit I lived in. We moved soon after. Sad to say gated communities are not any safer because you never know who is inside the gates, either your neighbors, or people working in the area. Ladies, please be careful always, even in your homes, you can never be too safe. I always think about this case, I hope the family can someday find out what exactly happened to Jennifer.

Pretty amazing how the perpetrator got so lucky not just once but over and over. Broad daylight in a big city and no one in Jennifer's condo heard or saw anything, no one at the other complex heard or saw anything when the car was dropped off, perp didn't miss wiping a single fingerprint nor shed a single hair anywhere in her car, he never got the urge to joke or brag to a friend/coworker/gf who might turn him in, the one security camera just so happened to only catch the back of his head and one of his legs, and 14 people trampled into Jennifer's condo after the disappearance, destroying any possible evidence there. I mean, this guy's luck and timing is absolutely impeccable. And like the best friend said, so casual. How horrible for Jennifer's family and friends.
Totally insane that there were no interviews done with the occupants in the condo across from Jennifer. There also should have been crime scene investigators that collected DNA samples
They didn't even inspect the condo the workers lived in! There could have been evidence in the condo if she was harmed there. It's so disappointing that they didn't follow up with everyone who lived there who could have possibly harmed her.

I was friends with Jennifer's cousin Barbara in college and she still posts about Jennifer often. It's awful how this case is still unsolved and what the family has gone through for so many years.

My gut feeling that I get from watching this program is that she was abducted by a immigrant worker in the building (that had links to a sex trafficking cartel).
I believe the motive for Jennifer's abduction is for sex trafficking.

I don't think it's anything about sex trafficking I think he was just a lone sexual predator that worked at the complex that had been stalking multiple women. He probably had a gun grabbed her and forced her to walk to her car and drive away at gunpoint. Or he took her into one of the empty Apartments SA and killed her. I think he did use her car to move her body
I believe one of the workmen saw a chance and a lifetime to do something nefarious and evil towards her. When people don’t do their job it can cost someone their lives. I lived in a secured community. You could only enter if you told the security person where you were going. That being said... When my daughter was about 10, some guy had come up into the area we lived in. I was living like 3 buildings away from the security shack but on the outgoing road. My kids were out playing right in between the buildings. She was playing with a couple of her friends from the other building. Well you know that scream a child does that you know deep in your heart something is wrong and you race out to find your child crying? Yes my daughter and her friends were all crying and screaming. When we asked what was happening, they told us that a guy in a brown car tried to grab my daughter. My husband ran after the car. He didnt get the person. But this was during a time when a couple other little girls went missing. We called the police and filed a report. Because of that, they investigated why the gate was left open, and security guard got in trouble. Anyways, after a while we were sitting in the house watching the news when they showed the guy who they suspected of taken the other 2 girls. They showed his car and then the guy. My daughter lookes at the tv and said Mom, Dad thats the guy who tried to grab me. We were like OMG.. called the police back to let them know, but by this time they had already knew. As when he was caught he had pictures of the 2 girls he had already taken and a picture of my daughter. The other 2 girls were found but it was to late for them. I vowed never to live in a gated community again.. they dont listen to anyone and the security guards think they own the whole world. The security guard came up to my door, and didnt even apologize for leaving the gate open.. He yelled at me for calling the police.. So please dont think if you live in a gated community you are safe.. You are NOT.. stay safe and make sure your surroundings are safe and nothing bad stands out..

I’ve followed this case since it happened, as a fellow Orlando resident. I actually worked across the street from her condo complex, at the mall, when it happened. I check every year hoping for an update. It’s coming up on the 18 year anniversary and they haven’t had a moment of peace since this happened. It’s time for an answer

They didn’t secure the crime scene, probably didn’t listen when they said she felt unsafe around the construction workers and the brother mentioning something didn’t feel right. They had the bf come 200 miles to open the car truck to get his reaction to seeing his dead girlfriend. Killer or no killer, you’re reaction is going to be nervous and horrified. They are the reason this didn’t get solved.

It’s pretty much guaranteed she is in a shallow grave within a few miles of that condo complex.
I remember her case because about the same time in Georgia we had a local beauty queen who went missing. At some point some CZcams wacko claimed responsibility for both of them but it turned out to be a hoax. The beauty queen’s remains were found recently, 15-17 years after she disappeared. The two guys responsible are currently on several different trials in several counties. I doubt her family will ever know the real truth, but at least they now know she is gone and they somewhat know what happened. If Jennifer was hurt by a transient laborer as it seems to may be the case, who knows where this person is now. How disheartening for her family. Hoping they get some sort of answer somehow. How I wish today’s technology existed back in the early 2000s.

No idea why. I consider myself a true crime fanatic and know so many stories yet these 2 cases stick out. I hope to see these solved in my lifetime. Both families deserve justice and answers 🖤✨
There are 3 cases that I will never forget, Brooke Wilberger ( a beautiful young lady who had just finished her freshman year at Bringham Young University. She was abducted in late May 2004 in Oregon while doing her summer job), Natalee Holloway and Jonbenet Ramsey. Brooke's case was solved (and her remains were finally located in 2009) and I think we all "know" who is responsible for Natalee's disappearance. I still hope that someday we will get definite answers about who killed Jonbenet..

This all happened in Orlando, Florida. For all of you not from this area there are more than a few gator parks here. If a serial rapist/killer got ahold of her and after 17 years it's not hard to figure out what happened to her. Since I moved here in 1987 there seems to always be a serial killer or 2 hunting women here.

Jennifer’s case, along with Sabrina Aisenberg’s, will always be one of the top two cases I’d like to see solved in my lifetime. It is just so senseless, rare, and horrifying that someone could disappear at the hands of a stranger, without a trace.

A worker had been watching her and took her. I lived in a complex years ago where whenever I'd go in and out, the maintenance would always stop and stare. I'd go off on em to where they'd stop, but then I eventually left. It's sad when you decide to live in what you think is the safest places, you're not. Smh 😢 these parents deserve to find their daughter!

The management of this complex definitely has some responsibility. They knowingly allowed (probably undocumented) workers to live all over the complex in any vacant condos, without even recording their names. That's unbelievable.

It is bone chilling and maddening that there is someone (or someones) who could hurt this beautiful woman and go on with life like nothing happened. I can't begin to imagine what her family and loved ones went through and are going through. I pray against hope that she's alive and they get her back but at the very least, I hope they find her and get justice.
The stories of people vanishing are so mind boggling, and extremely sad. The pain her parents and friends have endured for all this years is unfathomable. I don't know why God brings so much pain to people. I hope God brings her family some closure someday. RIP Jennifer!

When I heard about this case as it happened initially, it just hit a chord and stuck with me in such a profound way, I still can't explain it. It's all I thought about for a long time and I turned the facts that had been reported over and over in my head. This case is completely premeditated. Someone knew she had been out of town and they knew her schedule as well. No screams, no blood or evidence, her car parked at another location to cause a diversion and no evidence there either, and no new leads or evidence in years. It just feels like this case was meticulously planned. I thought it was someone or a group from the construction workers for years. But I just don't see some random guys able to pull it off so cleanly. It is mind boggling.
I think about the Kesee family often. The police were just terrible in this case. I cannot imagine refusing to share information with a family that has just suffered such a terrible loss. It actually makes me wonder if they weren't involved somehow... Shame on them for adding to the heartbreak and not doing there jobs with any integrity whatsoever.
Years had passed, and this case had slipped to the back of my mind. I was watching TV last year and her name was mentioned and I just started crying and said, "Oh my God, she's still missing?" It is so frustrating, almost like a puzzle that you know can be completed, but you just can't figure out the last couple of pieces. I am always sending the family love and prayers for healing, acceptance, and peace. I hope with all of my heart that she is located during their lifetimes so they can at least have relief from wondering where she is. Jennifer will always have a place in my heart.

I think it may have been anyone in the complex, who may have seen her leave, then return, from her trip. ..broke into her car while she was on her trip. Left it unlocked until her return. Hid in her car minutes or hours before she would leave for work. Then as she drove to work, the criminal ambushed her from behind the drivers seat. Law enforcement literally had the killer from day one. They literally had a closed system of possible suspects, because of the gated community. Yes, a random person can gain access to a gated community, but it was not someone who just happened to be in her gated community that morning; it was someone who lived there, or, a worker, or, management person el. All law enforcement had to do was carefully comb thru each and every person who worked and lived there who could have had info about the details of her upcoming trip, or , had a view of her front entrance or into one of her windows, where they would see her leaving for work every day at a certain time, leaving for her trip, returning from her trip, etc. ...did le ask her friends if they knew if anyone in the complex had asked Jennifer for a date or expressed interest in her? ... Could have been a resentful person she had rejected, who lives in her complex, and he became obsessed a bitter, watching her with her boyfriend. Or, someone, maybe a worker, wanted her car and some money to travel across the country, but there was a struggle in the car and he killed her by mistake during the struggle. ..
My little sister was murdered and her body was found and returned to us. The person that killed her was never caught, but my mom did have her and could grieve her death. I’m so sorry for the pain that each one of these people have suffered. Please read Psalm 37:9,-11, 29 & Revelation 21:3,4. These have brought our family comfort and hope.

How grossly irresponsible for a condo complex to randomly allow “workers” who they probably have little to no documentation on, to live among the residents of their “gated” community where they are expecting security and safety.
