When installing the pin lock, you should test the seal by taking a piece of paper and trying to push it into the seal with the shield. Sometimes you have to adjust the pin lock plate.

Ive got about 11,000 miles now on the exact same helmet (in burgundy). I installed the Sena integral comms unit designed for the compartments in the hemet. I love it! never had a moments problem crystal clear audio. I installed the Sena Prism Tube Wifi camera on the other side with the mic following the boom of the comms unit. I bought some cheap mic windsocks and cut one up to go over both mics. The Prism speaker fits easily into the right side next to the comms speaker with zero discomfort. It really is a sweet set up. Shrinkage in fit was minimal and I've removed the complete liner 3 times now and washed them out. Not the easiest to reassemble but a lot of that is self induced. The integral sun visor is trick to keep completely clean so welcome ant tips on that

I can’t decide on the RF1400 and the Neo 2! Doing a lot of longer rides but on a ‘21 H2SXSE+ with a full system and flash…230hp at the wheel pulls hard which makes me lean towards the full face BUT it’s not like I’m doing that all the time….usually crusing with the wife on her new Z900. I need a helmet that doesn’t lift as much at 150+ 😂

  • @DFWMoose

Bob, you forgot to mention that the cable between the speakers also doubles as an FM antenna. I say that because the actual Cardo installation video over emphasizes it. 😁😁😁

Agree on Shoei’s fit and finish the whole product chain. Their graphics paint-work is also top shelf. I’ve been wearing the Shoei RF1400 and really like it alot. But boy would I appreciate the options afforded by a modular. I think I’m jumping in the game Coach. I’ll too will be installing a comm unit, the new Cardo Edge. What a relief to see the Neotec 2 allows a clean fitment of a non-proprietary comm unit. I like choices in components. I ride an 22 ultra blue Gold Wing DCT Tour Airbag with an electronically adjustable windscreen. GTG! Thanks for your perusal high quality production and content.

As someone who makes motorcycle videos myself, I have struggled mightily with wind noise in my videos, I believe mostly due to wind inside my helmet. I have been wearing a Shark Evoline that is about 10 years old, and it is a size too small and hurts my forehead after a while. I started looking at the Neotec a few weeks ago for my upgrade, and the relative quiet aspect sold me on it. At a retail price of $799, however, I decided to wait for a good deal on a new or slightly used one. I found one in an open box deal online priced at $629, and the retailer even had a 10% off coupon which I applied. There was no sales tax and no shipping, so I got it for $566!! I don't believe there could be a better deal anytime soon, if ever, so I snapped it up. It came with everything it was supposed to in its original box. Unbelievable. I am looking forward to observing a dramatic difference in road and wind noise with this helmet, significantly more comfort, and much better ergonomics. My Evo has always been hard to re-open once the chin bar was flipped back, but this one will be much easier. I can't say I'm crazy about the ratchet chin strap. It's a little snug for my taste. I've installed the Pinlock insert and my BrakeFree brake light, and now just have to put my GoPro mount on the chin bar. Anxious to try it out if we get a nice warm day!
I note your video quality is very good, and you have almost no noise. I'd love to know how you achieved that. I installed the Pinlock, but I noticed it says not to use it at night due to only an 80% light transmission, which means I may have to flip the visor up if I happen to be riding at night, which is disappointing. I'm certinly not going to mess with uninstalling and reinstalling that, because it was kind of a pain and took me quite a while. On the Sena system, I refuse to pay $300 for a custom fit, and instead will use my $150 (which to me was still a lot of money) Cardo. It's only good for one rider, but I usually only ride with one rider. I got that installed at the dealer that sold it to me today. Looks great.
Now that I have purchased my dream helmet, it is probably time for them to introduce the Neotec III, since it is now 5 years old in this model. But that's OK. I'm incredibly happy.
Loved the review and you now have a new subscriber to your channel. You'll likely remember me because I tend to post lengthy comments on the videos I watch. 👍🏍🏍🏍🕶👌😎🍺👉

  • @jybritt
    @jybritt Před 3 lety +3

I’d looked at the Shoei Neotech II, and wondered whether one could, in fact, attach a Cardo as you did. I wasn’t interested so much in the Neotech, but Shoei’s J-Cruise II, the three-quarter helmet.
However I couldn’t find one around to try on (I wear an XXL) during COVID, and I didn’t want to take a chance that the helmet wouldn’t fit, so I went with an Arai Ram-X, which I was pretty sure would fit. I like being able to drink water, lift it up easily in front, more airflow, etc., and on my RT Ltd, it’s more pleasant than my full face helmet. Now you’ve got me thinking of putting a boom Mount on the Ram-X, and perhaps buying a second Cardo mount and wiring harness so that I can pop the communicator off my full face, and pop it in my open face.
BTW, I took the helmet for a test ride from LA, thru Death Valley, to Las Vegas a few weeks back. It hit 110 in the middle of DV, but the open face kept me cool. I’ll save the full face for winter riding.
Thanks fir the good info. Enjoy your road trip! Love the look of your helmet. It be BAAD!

I own the Shoei RF-1400 but just bought the Neotec II Winsome TC-1. I am three days into ownership. I love both these lids. The RF-1400 seems to offer a bit more over the head ventilation than the Neotec though. Maybe because the Neotec is a modular and Shoei thought that should be suitable. Dunno really!

Good video, but I recently bought a Neo tec 2. Going by reviews is why I purchased it. The main problem is the chin bar comes up to high partially blocking my view. When riding my Royal Enfield interceptor I have to tip my head down to see the gauges. A lot better vision from my old Nolan N104. I've had it several years before the chin bar release broke.
Both helmets fit very good. And I still wear it even with the release broke.
The Shoei is maybe a little quieter but for costing 3 times more it's way overpriced.
Being retired I ride over 15k mile a year.
So I ride a lot. The dealer I bought it does not take helmets back otherwise it would be returned.

Claiming the Schubert helmet is the quietest helmet due to it's design is really not correct. A quality helmet with a reputation for being one of the quieter ones yes is important but more importantly is choosing a helmet that suits your head shape and is the right fit. Schubert's are a more intermediate round shape and if you are a more typical intermediate oval you may experience a lot of wind noise coming up to your ears from the side especially if you have a windshield that directs air to your helmet.

My Neotec 2 lets in a lot of wind. The flap that the chin cushion thing goes in has a very small gap between the flap and the helmet. I don't know if that's the issue or if that's normal. Hey CoachBob, Great video thank you for that. A few questions for you.
Does the chin curtain cover your chin (like go past the chin) or is it just barely reaching your chin?
When I tried one on, the chin curtain barely touched my chin and was not even under it, it was like the bottom of my chin was level with the chin curtain.
I tried the Large on at a shop today, it was kind of snug (but not overly) to get on, the cheeks felt good for not giving too much pressure, but I found on the right side at the back of my head I notice a bit of a hot spot just where it starts to curve towards the neck. Do you think that would go away after break-in, Does MRS Coach get the hotspot back there?
Also, could you do a video of how you set up your helmet for VLogging and what mic you use, and how you run/cable manage the mic wire? Also, how do you mount your GoPro and so on?

I am using a GoPro hero 9 black with a purple panda microphone. I am filming in 1080p at 60fps.

If you like bugs inside your helmet buy one. Yeah, comfortable, great features blah, blah, blah……until you have things crawling around your head. Can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve ripped off my helmet to clear out a bug, or 3!!
