The Shoei Neotec II Helmet is the direct replacement for the Neotec which has established itself as the modular helmet benchmark. With the Neotec II Shoei refined the previous model while adding a few new features. The Neotec II comes prepped for the model specific Bluetooth communicator from Sena so we decided to do an install video to see if the end result meet our expectations.
Installing the Sena SRL was fairly straight forward, our only gripe was the instructions were not amazing. End of the day we feel the finished product was what we had hoped it would be. Once installed the Sena SRL looks like it came installed from the factory which is what we feel most riders will expect.
We did not use the unit as this is not new technology. Sena has a solid reputation and makes a good product that we find easy to set up and use.

Thank you! There’s no way I could have done this on my own. This is my first motorcycle helmet and I have never removed any parts of it before. It’s also my first time installing something like this. Whew. An hour and a lot of rewinding because I’m new at it but your video was great.

I don't know about anyone else, but the wiring on the slide in side pieces were the only real issue with the install where I felt a little let down by the design. Everything else was absolutely instinctual.
The problem being that the side flanges on the cheek pads need to be able to reach down quite deeply to hook into the pins, and you just lay quite thin wires right across it's path that need to be tucked away, and there really isn't any good location for them.
The official Shoei install video simply warns to not have them in the way of the rear pin to allow reinstall of the cheek pad, but then rushes along and doesn't explain how.
I think you did a great job here of at least highlighting the need to push the wires in and down, but I can't help feeling they simply made these wires too long. I mean.. I installed on a large shell helmet. Is the XXL really in need of 3 or 4 more inches or wire on each side? I don't think so. I imagine this issue on a small size helmet must be really quite a pain in the butt.
If they'd designed some kind of channel or through hole on the cheek pad flange itself to allow the wires through or a place to run alongside rather than needing to be sandwiched right against the inside edge of the helmet while at the same time re-engaging those hooks.. It might have allowed for a simpler install.
It looks great when it's all together, but I found myself feeling disappointed in that aspect of the install alone, and because of the cost, feel this could be an area of wire failure down the road. It's a bit sloppy for such an expensive product.

For anybody that doesn't want to deal with the SLR's cruddy audio quality, the Cardo Packtalk series are pretty dang easy to install on these helmets. Just put the interface a touch farther back then you normally would with the glue plate and everything else is cake.
The JBL speakers on the Cardo system blow these speakers away if you care about it.
Plus, the area where you would put the battery is now a nice little storage spot for whatever items you want to stash.

After seeing a Video at the Shoei Factory and how Shoeis are hand made with a lot of quality control .. I think this wll be my next Helmet..
Too bad I already chose a Cardo Pak Talk slim.. As cardo has 100% Water proof resistance stands behind their Warranty better and is said to have better customer support.
So it's all installed .. I know nothing about the available controls on this Sena.. Not mentioned in this "Install" Video .. I assume you simply plug your USB Charger cable into that back unit Obviously while still installed on the Helmet..
I suppose I will have serious issues trying to install my already paid for Pak Talk Slim Blue Tooth on this Helmet.. Then again switching from one Helmet to the other would be a time consuming hassle every time..
Also I don't even know if this Sena works with Voice commands or not???

This video was only ever intended to showcase what it takes to install the unit and get a good clean result. - Van

@@sportbiketrackgear I was going to visit your store early December via motorcycle.. Then it got cold and started snowing .. I had just added heated Grips . hand guards and the wiring for a heated vest..
Finally rode my snowmobile for the first time in several years last night.
I just got a new CKX Mission Snowmobile Helmet with heated visor ..and breath duct venturis to vent your breath out the back ..
It's a Cheap made in China Helmet with great features.. No Comparison to a Shoei.
It is a full face but the shield is huge and flips out of the way .. You could eat a candy bar with the shield up ..
I want to try it on the street in cold weather.. The Shoei you have to keep your face shield cracked open ..

So I won't need a blowtorch and sledgehammer?

Is not that some people don't read. It's that some folks don't know on how to write or explain instructions.

That's fair, doing install videos is not easy and I would imagine writing a technical document is even more challenging. - Van

Hardly. Pictured/illustrated instructions without text eliminates the need to provide text in 12 different languages. Not everyone speaks/reads English.

Sorry, I have not used this myself, we just decided to shoot an install video because we felt the instructions were a little weak. - Van

Mine has these weird left and right pieces that look like antennas. nothing is covered in the manual or in tutorial videos. Sena needs to step up their game
