Impulse did qna and said that Grian had been standing on wither roses just before that scene so he suspected it was deliberate as well.

The fact that Grian got Mumbo to kill him in the final moments on the server is so epic
I wish we got to see Grian's reaction though. Still not sure why he didn't include it on his episode.

@@eandm_creations I don't think that part was really up for debate. Grian was on half a heart and mumbo didn't use a weapon. Plus everyone else was further away.
@@sphygo the "peace love and plants" motto was the entire foundation of Mumbo's season 8 run, so it was the right thing Grian did by letting Mumbo reveal this hilarious betrayal in his own video, rather than Grian spoiling it(considering also, Mumbo uploaded half an hour late, so even worse could have happened).
Mumbo's sense of humour may have let him to black out the scene, and show the statistics, to engage suspense and also somewhat rant his whole "stats matter" initiative.
I can't wait til Mumbo does the "War, Hate, and Meat" challenge next season.

If anyone is wondering Impulse did a stream where he talked about the behind-the-scenes of this season and went into a bit of detail about all of this.
They decided to end the season short for a few reasons, but mostly it was the 1.18 update, and having to reset chunk borders and such is why they wanted the short season. They also wanted everyone to have a nice chunk of time off for everyone around the holidays.
And yes, it was Grian who recommended the Big Moon plot lol. And he was intentionally on half a heart so Mumbo would kill him.

I JUST realized that Grian had half a heart his whole episode just to get one over on Mumbo at the very end. The long con, the planning, the audacity.
Cleo's ending was so tragic and inspiring. i loved the animation she did, and even if it's not followed up on, the idea of her being trapped alone in the end is an interesting one.
Her "Running through the nether" scene really sold how quickly the moon was coming down, basically immediately after the big group meeting. was kind of sad to see the others didn't have quite the sense of urgency to them.
I loved the dynamic she and Joe created in their final scene together - both unsure how to handle it, caring but unable to think it through and instead going separate ways… heartbreaking, but excellent (and realistic!) storytelling.✨
@@lisa_wistfulone7957 Joe said on stream that it was totally unplanned, too. He'd decided to not go with her (because he knew she had the animation plans, and him being there would've made that weird) and expected her to yell at him or something. But instead the interaction went poignant.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the editing and story of Tango's last 2/3 episodes. His last episode too him 22 straight hours to finish. Zedaph had some great editing as well all season long

I’m pretty sure Gem’s portal wasn’t to the nether, I think the amethyst around it made it magical, and transported Gem to the next season.
The amethyst was a reference to Gem’s other SMP series where she is a wizard who bases her magic off of amethyst.

Tango’s finale arc was unbelievably well done. If anyone hasn’t seen it, I recommend watching tango’s last three episodes. Mans went all out

If Bdubs thinks the Big Eye crew won he's very mistaken, in the end Boatem went together while Big Eye split. To me it shows what team was the best, the one that stayed united till the end ... while scamming/pranking one another but what else did you expect ? :p
True. But I think we need to pardon Tango. He left to risk everything to save the Hermits, and “died” as a Hero. Even if it was a simulation (see Ren & Doc’s finale), Tango’s heart was definitely with the Big Eye Crew, since he “saw” both Keralis and Bdubs in space.

In all fairness BDubs moon is now the one controlling the entire island
I think they ended early to start s9 with 1.18 since they can’t reset chunks in the existing world cuz hermits have built a lot of things already
The plan was to expand out from the island.
They didn't end early in season 6 despite also changing version from 1.13 to 1.14. They just expand the world
This jump in version was a bit more complicated than just what's happening inside the world itself, so imo, it was the only way. They sent it with a bang, which ultimately more than makes up for the short season.

The update split of caves and cliffs from 1.17 to 1.17/18 in the summer probably already caused them to change their plans, and people might rather want to play in a fresh 1.18 world now instead of an old world mixed with new generation like season 6.

For the grian bit, no. He was probably on full health, had mumbo high five him, or punch him, where the game would think that Grain has fell out of the world while trying to escape Mumbo. Like when you punch someone off a cliff, it says they fell from a high place trying to escape the puncher

@@nasruntahir2645 Yeah. From what Impulse was saying in his casual Friday AMA, it looks like they are going to take January off (in part to let the Hermits recharge, and in part to skip the low ad revenue month on CZcams). So it will likely be some time in February.

I watched every single hermit's finale this time and I have a new appreciation for what you do every week. That took a long time to watch

Well the interesting thing is that they all had different methods. Some just flew out of the impact zone. Some flew away. Some even went to different dimensions. It it’ll be interesting to see if they’ll elaborate.
Until Etho releases a video for the finale, my headcanon is that he was working on the interior of a build when the moon fell, and by sheer coincidence, that building is the only one that survived what was otherwise the complete obliteration of the world.

I'm still just wondering where Helsknight ran off to. He was already gone from Hels Kitchen when EX went there last... he knew obviously. But now where did he go?
Maybe deeper into the nether or he could have just escaped through the overworld like the Hermits.
The thing I’m wondering about is whether Hels or Evil X will be in season 9, (because according to Ren and Doc’s episode, S8 was a simulation) whether they will even know anything about events of season 8,(cuz they’re technically not hermits and might not have really participated in the simulation) or whether they have something to do with the weird virus on the Hermatrix ship. (If you’re confused watch Ren’s or Doc’s season finale)
Perhaps Gem being very Crystally in empires accidentally made a magical amethyst parasite that latched onto the Hermitcraft ship at the end of Doc and Ren’s videos.

Doc and Ren thought they're ahead of everyone else, thinking this was all a simulation but in reality Zedaph is way ahead of them that he created this simulation and planted these thoughts in their heads

I was so excited for it, it is probably one of my favourite along side Impulse's factory, both are fantastic

I love this season so much but, It ended rather abrupt and a lot of unfinished projects like Impulse's factory, Big Eye's Shopping District and Fifi's cave, Etc.
As far as Impulse is concerned, check out his Twitch channel in the near future. He plans to port the factory into a creative world with the Create mod to finish it, while achieving it’s full potential with all the mod features.

This was the first Hermitcraft season I've watched, and this season was amazing. I can't wait for the next one
i just realized this season has only gone on for about half a year. i knew it felt shorter than the last couple seasons, but it also feels like ive been in the world of Boatem, Octagon, and Big Eyes for eons

My theory about the DocM and tendog thing. As you heard Ren sounded like a Hippy and back in season 6 Ren was a hippy and Doc was playing around with glitchy things SO. The last two seasons of hermitcraft have been a simulation (which is kinda obvious but yeah)
