CARAMELIZED ONION AND MUSHROOM PUFF PASTRY BITES | BEST HOLIDAY APPETIZER

- These Mushroom and Caramelized onion puff pastry bites are going to be the HIT of your next party or Family Gathering!! They are really easy to make and people wont be able to stop eating them! You can also make one big tart and slice it up afterwards! They are super flaky and the sweetness from the onion and saltiness from the cheese is addicting! Hope you can give them a try soon!
Ingredients:
1 pkg prepared puff pastry dough...thawed
4 T butter...divided in half
2 T olive oil
6 oz sliced cremini or white mushrooms
1 large onion, cut in half and thinly sliced
1 large shallot, minced
1/2 t dried tyme
1 T sugar
1 T balsamic Vinegar
4 oz freshly shredded gruyere cheese
1 egg

The sugar and thyme look like they are the key ingredients there that most wouldn't think about. Egg sheen sounds good as well and nice experiment there with the whole sheet of pastry! Adding that parsley definitely makes this look straight out of an upscale cafe or restaurant. Exemplary work there and thanks so much for sharing and showing the taste taste opinion.

I made the filling and tomorrow will top toasted crusty country bread slices with the caramelized onions and mushrooms add the gruyere and pop them in the oven to melt the cheese and have appetizers. The filling tastes wonderful.

Just found this one and my god, these look amazing. I love sautéed mushrooms and onions. And who doesn't love buttery pastry and cheese! Do you think it would work maybe adding some red or white wine to deglaze the bottom of that pan (or even Marsala)? Another thought...how about some nice smokey bacon in the vegetable mixture for a little sweet and salty action? My mouth is watering with the possibilities, these are absolutely going on my upcoming Fathers Day menu (Moms day is already planned). Thanks so much for the inspiration!
