I love it how when people sing, it doesn’t matter what country they’re from or the accent they have. They all simply harmonize and sound like one beautiful choir.
THANK YOU! As a cradle Episcopalian, these hymns are an important part of the history and liturgy of the church. I told my minister that if I ever saw a drum kit up on the chancel, we were gone.
Not all American churches do that. I'm part of a small Anglican Church plant in Austin,Texas and we sing a respectful blend of old and new, mostly old hymns. The new we do sing is good new.
+Christie Thompson Visited church for the first time since I left it. What a letdown! No processional, no choir, no use of the hymnal, no dress code. A "band" urged us to "get with the spirit" and sang one song endlessly in American Idol fashion. The "hymns" were on a teleprompter and sounded like nursery school ditties and the organ could barely be heard above the drums. If god was a cell phone folks were certainly getting in touch,
Magnificent ! This represents the best of the English tradition of church singing: a large cathedral or (in this case) abbey church full of enthusiastic singers being led by an expert choir. As usual, the choristers sing a descant to the final verse, and what an exquisite sound thirty little boys make, when their voices rise above the singing of a thousand people.
We used to sing these grand old hymns in church in the USA. We almost never do anymore, pretty much just singing "praise choruses." But what greater praise to God can be given than the singing of this wonderful old Hymn. We've lost something.
I found it very moving to see HM and her family singing this hymn. Every Sunday we pray for HM and her family - this glimpse of them at prayer completed a circle for me and underlined the unity of the Crown and people. Beautiful.
It is here! Never was one of Jesus' prayers unanswered… as in "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Heaven is not a place, but rather a state of consciousness… for those who understand. God's will is actually rather simple. It merely require that we love one another. Live in that state of consciousness. You don't have to die to get there. Sent with love. CVD
1. Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne, Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity. 2. Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o'er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save. His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high, who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die. 3. Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a scepter sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease, and all be prayer and praise. His reign shall know no end, and round his pierced feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet. 4. Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For thou hast died for me; thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity.
+radiootoo I personally rate it as one of The most powerful and anointed hymns in Christendom. It lacked the anointing here; when sung by people who have a relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ the anointing can be picked right away. I did often lead with this when I was once a worship leader.

Great hymn done beautifully. I can't help but notice all the woman's hats. I wish we wore hats like this in the states. You see a few but not many, even at church.
A great hymn as I have mentioned previously in another sentence. What a great Choir at Westminster Abbey and Organist. The descant was superb from the boy trebles.
This is a beautiful Catholic hymn, Matthew Bridges wrote it and set it to music written by Lord Elvey. He converted to Catholicism in 1848 and wrote the hymn in 1851, I believe.

Boy, church going women in England love their hats don't they? All kinds of 'Mad Hatters' at that Royal Wedding last week. Love this hymn and this video, I wish that the organist hit the tutti piston at least on the last chord of the last stanza if not before to counter the Brass. Wonderful singing as expected when a boys' choir is involved.
Nice to know that by singing that hymn that the English Monarch knows that her crown is a temporary thing and that the crowns that Jesus wears are eternal!
This is what please the Lord, not contemporary music which may imminently turn the church into a carnal one. These hymns shall never cease and they will be in heaven
Hope you are well after these many years. I must disagree with you on what you state about contemporary Christian worship being somehow inherently invalid. These songs have a beautiful focus on God but contemporary music has its place too!

Thank God the Anglican Church has preserved these beautiful hymns. They are for me the 'rock of ages'.
