  • A Pocky or a Mikado depending on where you get them from are thin chocolate coated biscuit snacks, apparently named after the Japanese onomatopoetic word pokkin! Here in the UK they tend to be called Mikado and they come in so many different flavours, I love them, they are very addictive, but how about we try to make gigantic ones!?

    Already seen a bunch of other comments mentioning this, but I'd be interested to know why you chose to make a Mikado with a yeast based dough instead of a biscuit/shortbread dough? It's easier to roll into shape, it will have the snap/crumble and you'd probably have a more authentic taste.

    Mikado :
    • the biscuits;
    • the game;
    • the title of a Gilbert and Sullivan
    opera...
    But first of all, it was the title given to the person at the top of the feudal japanese hiarchy, the emperor of Japan.

  • @janiebaur676
    @janiebaur676 Před 5 lety +2

    Barry! Every time I watch you knead or roll out bread dough, it makes the baker in me go crazy! You would be sooooo much happier with the results if you didn’t put down as much flour on your work surface. Remember: cooking is an art; baking is a science. When you add all that excess flour to your dough, it not only gives you a drier crumb, it upsets the balance of salt and sugar to flour. Much better to toss down a small amount of flour and add more flour as needed if the dough sticks to the surface.
