      @@mikegold4559 Describe the noise.. I have had a 2009-2019 nissan altimas except the '13 and the shut off after you crank can be associated with your sensors going bad. Do not replace any parts until you get your codes. If your codes show sensor malfunctions, try not to drive more than a few weeks before getting them cleaned or replaced. Driving with dirty or bad sensors can cause your engine more harm the longer it goes unfixed. Most altima codes for sensors happen right around 60k-90k miles (depending on frequency of use). Also, Altimas are one of the easiest cars to replace parts for. I taught my mom how to fix her own car, she has replaced headlight assemblies, belts, her A/C Condenser, mass airflow sensor, spark plugs, wheel bearings, rotors, brakes.. my mom is 68, if she can do it, you can too. CZcams has all sorts of DIY vids, you'll save tons! Good luck!

    2013 Nissan Altima SV. Same code, cleaned the MAF light came back on. Replaced the MAF, light came back on. Searched online for more solutions, and folks have said a faulty PCV valve can give you the same code, or a dirty throttle body. Checked the throttle body, and it's clean. Next is replacing PCV valve and hoses.

      Assuming you mean the evap purge solenoid, it is on top of the intake manifold towards the back of the engine. You can do a 9 or 12v battery test to see if it closes. If you are replacing that change the pcv valve right next to it.

    Excellent video. I have a question for you. I have a 2012 Rogue with a MAF problem p01 01 code. The Nissan dealer replaced the MAF. I replaced the air cleaner. I did not replace the PCV valve yet. The dealer I go to tells me they cannot fix the problem any more than they have because they do not have a Master Technician??? I am going to have to travel a ways to get a dealer with a Master Technician. The engine light has gone on twice now. It is supposedly fixed now. If not and the light goes on again and the car seems to run fine I want to turn off the engine light. I purchased a Walmart Hyper Tough HT 100 code reader. It is not much on instructions. It connects with your phone via Blue Tooth to give an explanation of the code. I do not need an explanation and I just want to turn off the engine light. My question is, do I have to use the Blue Tooth feature with the HT 100 or can I just plug it to the plug in the car, turn the ignition to on, read the code, and push the red button to clear the code??
    Thank you, Tom Spero

    • @JJCentral-DIY
      @JJCentral-DIY  Před měsícem

      You can clear code with the device itself. But once you clear if it comes back after driving, it is best not to clear after that due to the fact that the master tech will read not just the code but the freeze frame of what was going on when the code was written.

      Here are your options, Check the throttle body, if it's dirty, clean it. Check the connectors and the wiring at the MAF sensor. If you have a scan tool, look at the short fuel trim numbers at high and low RPMs. If the short fuel trim (STFT) goes lean at low RPMs, it's a sign of a vacuum leak. A leaking purge valve, as well as brake vacuum booster can also cause this problem. Check the MAP sensor; it's used to check for rationality of the MAF sensor. If the oem MAP sensor is faulty, it also can cause the code P0101.

      TheAlife18 So according to Nissan this happens a lot. The code ended up resetting on its own. I was also told if you put a new sensor in it takes a while for the car to get use to it. So drive as normal and it SHOULD reset on its own within a week or so.

      You can also pull the ground on your battery and let it sit for awhile draining the computer of it's power, thus resetting it. If it's a hard fault or code it will still be in the memory, if it's a soft fault or code it will erase and relearn accordingly.

    Update, refer below for old posts. Replaced air filter, cleaned entire airbox, no vaccum leaks, not a bad ground to the maf. Cleaned the throttlebody, light came back but restored some mpg. Replaced maf with a brand new hitachi maf, no reprogram from the dealetship and mpg went up even more and the light is finally gone for good. Ended up being the mass air flow sensor needed replacing, the old unit ran the car, no symptoms other than a missing a few mpg average and a CEL. Problem solved.

    The MAF is not the fix for this DTC. There is a SERvice bulletin for that p0101 DTC. You have to replace the PCV valve and reprogram the ECU. IF you have an oramnge PCV valve than the DTC will return eventually. Replacing it with the updated part (its Black) and dont use an aftermarket part, then the ECU needs to be reprogrammed. I work for Nissan.

      Good to know. My DTC hasn't returned in the past 10,000 miles after the MAF replacement. If it comes back I will explore the pcv valve option. Are you saying that if I replaced the pcv with the genuine Nissan part, I don't have to reprogram the ECU?

    • @Autofixpals
      @Autofixpals Před 5 lety +4

      @@JJCentral-DIY no im saying There is a Service bulletin that applies to your vehicle for that particular DTC. That requires PCV valve (updated part number) and reprogram. If the MAF fixed it. Then i would not worry. Its possible your MAF was bad. Typically i find that the MAF sensor is not usually the cause of that DTC. Most of the time its people using cheap aftermarket air filters that dont fit properly allowing dirt to get into the MAF sensor or some type of intake boot leak. Usually just cleaning the MAF and putting a quality good fitting air filter in (doesnt have to be Nissan Just has to fit properly) works. I just did a video on my channel on a Murano with the P0101 DTC. check it out.

    From experience for what ever reason, Nissans and Infinitis don't play well with aftermarket parts. If you end up having to replace your maf sensor, get one from the dealer or original factory part online.
