My first encounter this year went almost the same, little deeper into May though, Reg 8, similar bear, same distance sitting at 50 yards field judging, caught the wind and jetted. Great to see success. Subbed, happy to see local content.

Great video as always. Had an opportunity too when I was out a week and a half ago. But bear winded me and gonzo as well! They keep us on our toes! 😂

When the winds shifts a lot I like to carry deer sense in the spring because the does are giving birth and it helps masking my sense

Hey thats a great idea, thanks for the useful tip. I’m sure you bust out the fawn distress call from time to time.

beautiful country out there. I love BC. Also any reason you dont run a scope?

BC is special, 2 reasons, I have an emotional attachment to this rifle as iron sights, as well it forces you to have to get closer to the animal which is a whole other skill on its own in hunting.

What a hunt buddy! Cool to see you taking your time as well. Really thought it was gonna end with one. Editing in less than a week too... nice! What region are you in? I'm in Region 8 and no sign of them up where I am yet as we had a drop in temps and the arrowleafs are not out yet (usually a good sign of everything spring), but pretty sure they're just coming this way. Thanks for sharing your video.

Thanks for watching Mike, I won’t be unfortunately. I’ve never been to one so I’m looking to do one next year. Still getting this new bow dialed.

1:10 on the left side in the trees....is that an animal running? Deer?

Got my tag in the mail yesterday! Did you notice any Wood ticks ? Checked out my Hunting camp last weekend , just off the "201", and there was still snow in the shadows.
When I take the time and try to judge a bear , the first thing I look at , besides "does he look edible", are the size of the ears , compared to the head. Very young bears have Mickey Mouse ears, and older bigger bears have small looking ears that appear far apart.
Good luck out there this year , and Be True.

Didn’t happen to get any ticks on me this go around, I think… yea I think it was a sow due to the overall shape of the bear looking back at it. Not a big head, bigger looking ears compared to the rest of the body. Just had an old looking face. Thanks you as well, Always True.
