November Whitetail Hunting British Columbia 2023

- On this hunt I start to get my feet wet in the sitting game. Hoping to find some whitetail and learning about the different methods of hunting them. Although I spend a good portion still hunting for them, I practice the long hardship of sitting in a blind. As usual, there were many lessons learned. I’m excited to take up whitetail hunting as an annual endeavour.

If you can find an area with some scrapes and you know does are around stick to it and you'll have opportunities. Two years in a row now I've rattled in a nice buck. I prefer walking but I'm starting to get these whitetails nailed down and it is all about finding where a buck is hanging out, watching the wind, and calling him in. FueledbytheWild mentioned not to rattle too much so as not to give your location away too. For me it is tough to sit, but I can't argue with success.
Thanks for the whitetail wisdom. In your opinion how late in the season do you think you can rattle them in? I was trying to gauge how much or little I should have been rattling. Gotta brush up on the whitetail homework. Thanks for watching!
@truetineoutdoors I'm actually not sure how it works when they are really in the rut. I've had really good success pre rut to the beginning of the rut. The thing I've learned the past two seasons is bucks will really set up territory ayound their scrapes. And when you decide your too cold and decide to stand up and go for a walk it is inevitable that you spook a buck coming in lol.
Well ofcourse, I mean everything is subject to the situation. The 2 bucks you rattled in, how long after you rattled did it take for them to come in?
@@truetineoutdoors Last year I rattled and grunted off and on for about an hour or so. I saw him a couple hundred yards off or so coming in through an old block. I'm sure he was interested. This year I was out quite a few times rattling before I connected. I found it is really quick if he is around. I got busted once by a big buck coming in after 15 min, and the successful outing I was walking back to the truck and saw a doe. I sat and rattled and she came back at me hissing. She spotted me and bolted but a nice buck came in over my shoulder to investigate all the ruckus. It all happened in a matter of 5 min. It was only a hundred yards from where I had been rattling/grunting an hour earlier, but closer to hi scrapes. I've been out a bunch of times with no action too though.
Really appreciate the input. It felt like I missed that buck by like a week. (Rut wise). But ofcourse there a few in there. The spot I hunt them only has pockets of them here and there. I’ll have to put in more time next season during peak rut. Thanks again
Been hunting region 8 for as long as I can remember. The whitetail deer here are weird, their rut is unpredictable and most of the bucks will stay nocturnal throughout the year. I've had the best luck hunting on crown surrounding ag in the creek or river bottoms. Set up a cam in the early season to help with patterning, and make sure you put down salt and estrous at key areas to ensure the deer keep circling back.
Also, don't forget to advocate for our firearms rights as Canadians. Our current government is trying to cause as much damage before their term is up and it will end up affecting us as hunters.

Man, I feel your pain out there! I set up my blind, a pile of cob, and a trail cam last week in a great spot and hunted it all weekend. Ironically, I’ve got the same blind and that thing is a bitch to set up 😂. when I was setting up the cam a doe and a big buck were bedded about 100 yards away and I only learned that while they hopped and ran away. Sat and froze three days last weekend and going back tomorrow for one last sit over the food pile for the last day of the rifle season! Hopefully that big chocolate buck has made his way back now four days later. Love your videos man. I live in Kelowna and hunt mostly region 8. Best of luck with the bow!

What brand of wall tent are your running? It seems way more compact than the one i'm using and im looking for a new one. How does it perform in the rain?
It’s an old Coleman, I cut the floor out and made 2 separate frame systems for it. I also cut and stitched in a stove jack
Hey just curious why your not using your camper after the wood stove upgrade
It’s too much on the truck and or camper for some spots I hike from. I like to venture into some dicey roads sometimes.
