I have the black one and it's a translucent black. Under bright lights you can see the alder woodgrain. Very nice.
Holy shit!!! I stumbled across your video because I was looking at the new Donner. First I thought ok probably a older blues guy. Then you ripped that riff!!! I was like holy shit!!! Hes a old metal head like me!! I'm 51 and noodle around the guitar nothing special. So I subbed great review.

Larry from Grafton here! At first it seemed to me that this would be the era of buying up inexpensive guitars, as there was a sudden explosion of quality instruments coming from China and Indonesia. Firefly, Donner, Glarry, etc. Reminded me of back when Squier Bullets were nearly worthless, until now, when they are crazy collectible. But after watching the current market for a while, I see that what is really happening is that the technology to produce top quality guitars has simply been made more available to these builders and they are utilizing their cheap labor workforce to crank them out. So what I think now is this: Buy these, as they really are great. Maybe one day when politics ends their availability they will soar in value around here, but regardless, for today they are amazing playing guitars for pros and they allow newbies to have affordable real tools to learn on. This production explosion is a gift from the guitar gods, so run with it while it lasts. I have a bunch of Chinese axes and I love them all. My Fenders and Gibsons are really not all that much (if at all) better looking/playing/sounding than these. I am also a Squier, Epiphone, and Ibanez fan, so I also support the midrange builders. Great review.

I got this guitar and out of the box I was not happy. Chrome finish on the tuners was coming off as you tuned. Put vintage Hipshot locking tuners and a Graphtech nut and bridge saddles on. It is real sweet playing but don't like the tremolo at all. But love the neck profile and pickups are ok. Nice review Steve. Mine is dark green but can see some grain on it.
It's not just troll-y/crank-ery that "I can't hear the guitar thru distortion"; it's that if you regularly like to play clean, then that's what you need to hear when you're choosing a guitar. If you never play anything except rock, then it makes sense you don't care about cleans; but people _do_ play stuff besides rock on electric guitars, honest. (And even the early Stones, and the blues guys they used to emulate, played fairly clean.)
Got it for $195 from Donner direct for Christmas, wifey present. Nice guitar indeed.
I got mine for Christmas this year. $115 from Donner's eBay store. I really like it. Unbelievably nice for just over $100!!
Love your SOUNDS 👍👍 , IMO you have the best sounds/tones on CZcams. I would love to know what effects/ daws/ software - IE- what ever you use on this channel to get the most AWESOME rock sounds.

I have watched several videos of YOURS looking for the best CHEAP guitar (under $200) and to be honest, every single one you have played under $200 sounds better than any $800 plus guitar. The trick is the AMP and other effects you are using. Could you please describe that. With whatever apm/sound system you are using, I'll bet you could string up some spaghetti noodles on a broom and it would sound awesome.
Nice sounds. Good looking guitar. Basically on par with squier affinity if you ask me. It doesn’t have that chimey/bell ringer fender sound but but I’d buy one.

It is amazing what you can get today at very reasonable prices...guitars and amps.
If anyone wants to buy one. I'm selling mine cheap. They do not have the same resale value as Squier because of the name on the headstock.

I just ordered this guitar and now I'm skeptical. Amazon gives a warning about this product I didn't notice when ordered it. It reads exactly like this......"Frequently returned item Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item". Now that doesn't sound good . Anybody know why it has such a high return rate? After doing more research I came across several articles that stated Donner was telling customers to give good reviews in return for a total refund and could keep the guitars.
I returned 2 before i received one that was setup well and was very playable, along with the quality that reviewers had spoke of. Definitely a YMMV item

Bit less distortion would make it easier to hear the difference between the various positions

I bought one which has terrible fret work. The fret ends are like a cheese grater and the fretboard edge is not rolled at all. Steve may have received a specially prepared guitar. Using the tremolo throws it out of tune immediately and there's plenty of fret buzz. If you are buying this guitar a proper setup is essential!

Looks black to me. Honestly I couldn't see any green at all even in the lit reflections. Anyway at least we had a clarification half way through the video. I was almost going to see an eye specialist to see if I was colour blind. If anything it's a tinted very dark blue black. It may be what's known as Navy Blue (US military colour) that's also know as Blue Black.

Fender Mexican strats with taxes are 900 dollars. That is ridiculous for a mexican strat. I bout a squier classic vibe thats great for much less

You sure can't buy a new Squire for $115. At that price the Donner crushes the Fender and is better quality too.
