I really like Donner! I have done a number of reviews of Donner instruments on my CZcams channel and have been very impressed every time. I think they make good instruments at a good value!
as long as they pay you, fair play.
I’ve had one of these. I was impressed by the quality and feel of the neck. It was the best that I have felt, even on a Fender. The rest of the parts including the tuners and pickups were pretty crappy, but that is par for the course. It is a decent modding platform but the routes for the controls were a little shallow and it does not take Fender standard parts. If you are planning on modding this, you might be better with a squire.
I purchased two Donner guitars. The DLP124 and more recently the DST400. Both guitars are great values. I have a Fender Player Plus Tele and I love it. That said the DST400 is not far behind it. I am amazed at what you can get for the price these days. Donner is doing great things IMO.
Cooper & Chris, you talked me in to ordering this beginner pack (a 70 yo learning the dream); that plus the big sale they’re having this weekend!
Just got one today . Paid 66 bucks off eBay for r3verb one. Got for my son and can’t believe how good it was for 66 bucks . Plus the gig bag, tuner, picks, cord, capo and extra strings . Didn’t come with the amp . I’ve set it up and it’s staying in tune. For the price can’t be beat . 66. Bucks .
Thanks guys. It is so great of you to give an unbiased review of items you don’t even carry.
My grandkids would love this. Thanks I’m looking for a starter guitar for two young teens
Would've been fair to have used the amp that came in the pack. It is a review.
I want to see a "where did your guitar come from" series. Pre-www, it was interesting speculation to figure out if the cheap guitar one had was a Matsumoku back in the day.
Honestly, you could play a rubber band gun and have it sound so nice...excellent job.
love you guys
Great video. Donner does seem to be a well made and good quality guitar for the price point. I ordered a Donner DTC-100 (T style) guitar which should be arriving in the next day or two. Again, Great video as always!! Oh yeah, I wanted the white one but they didn’t have it so I got the sunburst, it still looks nice.
I too have a Donner DTC-100 t-style. I’m curious to hear your take on it.
@@ldlegrandjr883 I purchased it for $109.00US, and I purchased it to take with me on vacations. I was surprised at how good the fret job is (better than my Fender Stratocaster), the action is pretty good and it was intonated pretty well too. The nut is a little narrow, kind of like my older Squier Affinity, but cut and shaped very well. They only things that I did to it was I wax potted the pickups, copper shielded the cavities, treated the fret board, checked to make sure everything was tight and changed the strings. I am still baffled how good it is for how little it cost!! Down the road I may change the pickups, nut and other stuff, but that will be down the road a ways. I do like it!! How about you, what’s your take on it?
I am sure Cooper could make a cigar box, broom stick and rubber bands as strings sound great. Great review.
Thanks to Zach and Cooper for maintaining some headroom and good CZcams SPLs. Would the giveaway guitar be signed by Cooper Greenberg? $170 -15% discount code (-$25.50)= quite the beginner deal. Thanks to Chris for displaying the accessories, too.
I have to agree with the comments on Yamaha and Ibanez quality for a bit more than $150 excluding accessories. Picked up a semi-hollow Ibanez AS73FM-TAF for $449 inc. shipping, added a WD Custom black pearl pickguard, and it feels uniquely mine.
Ya i would say yes totally worth it. I mean come on its a strat. You can make it anything you want you can make it a Fender lol. I'll add that the packaging is great even when compared to mid-range companies like schecter where you just get a cardboard box with no accessories no gig bag or anything....
I know this is an inexpensive brand, but even so, it would have been nice to hear some tech specs of the guitar. Are the tuners any good? What size & material are the frets? Nut material? Are the pots crunchy/hissy? What kind of tremolo bridge is it? Is it stiff? Does it stay in tune? Any blemishes in the finish? Types of wood in body/neck/fretboard? Dual action truss rod? Output of the pickups? How is it with distortion? I really did like the demo playing, but for those of us without such subtle hands, the specs would be good to know. I am NOT complaining, just opining. I have fallen down the cheap axe rabbit hole. Been through Firefly, Fojill, Leo Jaymz, and others. Some are really nice and some have wasted my time and money.
they have an upgraded strat like guitar with a two point trem, shipped decked. not sure if you would wanna flot it but decked on a two point should have better tuning stability anyway. it sounded fantastic in a play setting. Costs a bit more and isn't a full starter pack but certainly worth looking into if you want an S like electric for a collection.
I don't have one but I do have a P-Bass from Donner and really love it. may check out some of their guitars too.
Very nice, great value for the money, love great playing cheap guitars and awesome playing once again.
I love this guitar 💖 you guys are awesome, I love watching your videos, you're doing a great job, just keep up the good work ✌️🤘
I got a “best choice products” (bcp) strat style pack for about $150, and it wasn’t too bad. If you or someone you know is on the fence about playing, it’s also an option.
Is it still good?
@@moorpreciousthanrubiez still playing it, couple sharp frets and the pick ups are a bit harmonic, but it isn’t any worse than say, a fender squier.
I ordered the dst-400 yesterday. Not to many people playing that model. It has a better trem system
It's not the quality of the guitar its the one playing it your very good player even on a Kmart guitar👍
This vs yamaha pac012 gigmaker? What is the verdict
Great review so in depth loved it
I have the impression that any guitar this guy picks up will sound like a dream ! lol . Having said that , the guitar put out a decent sound !
Nice review. If someone played acoustic for decades, even bought a couple from Alamo, would this be a good 1st electric or is there something better in the 500~$1000 realm?
Not sure if you're serious, but of course a $500-$1000 guitar will be much better than a $169 starter pack.
If I was starting with electric guitar for "cheap", I would get a Yamaha Pacifica 112J.
They are a bit more expensive than this Donner, but they are good guitars.
Just my 2c.
i like lead from the neck and middle, bridge for rythem
I bet Donner set it up well before sending it.
Cooper you could make a $5 guitar with crap strings sound great!
"When you want lead and you're going to the bridge pickup..." as if people don't live in the bridge pickup the whole song through. I think it's better to have a volume match between all the pickups.
oh my lord it passed QC but check out that cut of the nut! string spacing well off target. "nothing seems bad or off" questionable? must admit its good value but which learner has nearly $200 to spend on their first instrument?
I'm in N.Ireland UK where can I buy this guitar ?
Have you reviewed a JET guitar yet??
Sounds good
You guys could start a group and call yourselves C & C Music Factory.
