    Good honest review thanks. Bought one in 177 for "plinking" fun. Fitted AR open sights and replaced the moderator with a quality one. It really is a good rifle for the money. I am lucky to have some land so distances can be varied. Trigger is not bad at all. It actually will give decent results at out to forty yards on opens, ragged groups of three inches are the norm with a variety of pellets. At fifty yards performance drops off obviously. It is heavy but shoots well from bench or prone. Charging is a doddle, the regulator gives a good account of itself with about a hundred shots per fill. I use it for fun shooting, not tried it for pesting, but I think with a telly it could be useful for none FAC holders at close ranges. Build quality is very good too, the addition of Picatinny rails is something the overcharging western PCP makers need to be aware of.

On further investigations on CZcams reviews for this air rifle, Xisico Sentry comes up and looks the same apart from the cocking system, are these made by the same manufacturer? I love the look of this rifle but, being very new to the sport, I'm hesitant. Is the Walther RM8 Varmint significantly better out of the box or was it mainly down to better conditions on the review day? Love the Channel!

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks Jason - glad you like it and thanks for watching! The rifle was exactly as you see in the video and straight out of the box. Earlier versions of the RM8 had an issue with pellets jamming, but I believe whatever the issue was has now been designed out. We use Varmints as club rifles at Reading Air Target Shooting club and they have proved to be very reliable and resilient. If you can, buy new from a reputable dealer like The Sportsman Gun Centre. Not only do they price competitively, they also have excellent customer service if you do have an issue. I hope that helps.

    Nice gun and nice review.
    The grouping is completely disappointing.
    Maybe if you raised the power of the regulator you would have a more centered group.
    I believe that 590 fps is to slow.
    I think for the 5.5 you should be looking at 800 to 900fps depending on the barrel.

      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 3 lety

      Thanks very much. Yes, the group wasn't great. In the rifle's defence, it was straight out of the box and shot without the benefit of pellet testing. And it was really windy that day too. I have used the Sentry since with different pellets and have found 18 grain H&N Barracudas work well. Unfortunately you cannot adjust the regulator on the model for the UK as doing so would take you over the 12 ft lbs limit. Thanks for watching.

      Hi Edgar. It's important you set your expectations accordingly. This is a budget/entry level PCP and if you're looking to plink a few tin cans, do some informal target shooting and maybe deal with a few pests out to 15/20 yards and the styling appeals, then sure, go for it. But if you are looking for more precision there are better performing rifles for similar money in my experience. Please let us know if you want any input on alternatives.

I've found the Air Arms difficult to beat and most of my rifles like them. JSB do a sample pack - 30 or so pellets of all the different types they sell. Bought one of these , biggest mistake I have ever made, shot to shot consistency of a watering can fitted with a sprinkler , cheap Chinese knock off sold under a bought name . Avoid like the plague. Does pose the question though , what range were you shooting the review at ? Do you still have the rifle? Can I shoot it ?

      Sorry to hear that Dave. The rifle you saw in the video was loaned and has been sent back. It shot exactly as you saw in the video. I'm assuming you cleaned the barrel, pellet tested and went through a running in period? It is about the cheapest PCP you can buy.

    Looks like a clone of a chinese rifle sold by a couple online suppliers. Xisco brand for chinese. And Jefferson state air rifles for a moded version of the chinese model basically.

    I had this rifle now the junk yard does. Bad magazines, didn't hold air, breech seals get ripped up quickly.....even with power mods the gun is very low on power. Better off buying anything but this piece.

      @@alphamilitaria2756 I did not the gun was a disaster in every way, such a headache that I just binned it. It wasn't worth any more of my time of even trying to return it. I just don't see the point of giving this gun a decent review it really is the bottom of the barrel of pcp airguns imo. There are much better options out there that won't break the bank and have proven reliability. This gun is a complete train wreck imo. A first time pcp buyer should avoid this brand. If a person wants a low power and poorly made airgun that has extremely poor quality magazines that break only after a few uses, also very expensive to replace and not easy to repair this rifle might be for you lol. Buyers should be aware of the issues stated

    Very poor grouping, don’t fool yourself, just be honest. I totally respect your reviews but when you get hold of a lemon just inform the viewers please.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Allen. I didn't claim the Sentry displayed impressive accuracy. I said that 'the grouping wasn't the best' and explained that the conditions were very windy (you could see that from the way the target was flapping about), that the Sentry is a £350 entry level rifle and that I had not conducted any pellet testing. All I ever set out to do is talk about the key features of a rifle and then shoot it so people can make up their own mind about its accuracy potential. I didn't call this rifle 'a lemon' because I genuinely do not think it is. My opinion is only worth the same as yours, or anyone else's. In fact, I think it would be incredibly conceited of me if I was to say "buy this, or don't buy this because I am the arbiter of all things related to air rifles." Your opinion may be different to mine, but that doesn't mean I was lying when I gave mine. All the work and effort that goes into these reviews is only worthwhile and of any benefit to anyone if they are honest and impartial, and that's what I set out to be. I do not receive a penny from any of the manufacturers for reviewing their rifles, and the channel is not sponsored in any way.
