I’m interested in how many people here are from Australia and who isn’t. Like this comment if you’re Aussie🤙🏻. Or comment if you’re not from Straya
Not many of us, hey? Give it a few hours, it’s a bit late.
Oops, shouldn’t have commented….
Aussie the Americans are just so strange when they react to Aussie things
Sunny South Oz Here 👍
Old Aussie here…been to US a few times over the years.
The main difference is Americans take themselves way too seriously…and don’t do much geography in school.IMHO.Great people though.
@@Sligo41. Sligo?
the antenna game on cars are explainable, taller antennas are hf and vhf [ high and very high frequency] the shorter ones are uhf [ ultra high freq] and one is the fm radio , uhf is clear over short distances and hf is less clear but travels further for the same power of transmitter
I wondered if those two extra high ones were whip lights? They’re cool but make your car/ute look like a Christmas tree lol ✌🏼
@@Reneesillycar74 It looks like they are remote or mine site workers who also beach fish, in which case the whip lights are a safety requirement. Necessary for sites but also a big yes for beach driving.
6:57 if you have both a Kmart and a Woollies in the same shopping centre, it’s easy to go from one shop to the other with a completely unrelated trolley
They possibly had their Kmart purchase still in Trolley which is why the woolies camera picked it up
That's true, a lot of the time we go to both Coles and woolies with a trolley from either.
We like to make it easy when it comes to identifying snakes. Red bellied black snakes are black with a red belly, eastern brown snakes are brown and found in the east, king brown snakes are also brown (although technically they are black snakes), green tree snakes are green, tiger snakes have stripes and diamond pythons have a diamond pattern on their scales. We’re not unique in identifying our snakes this way, think rattlesnake or black mamba.
Also in Oz, Blue/orange/yellow bellied Black, black headed python, fierce snake, olive python, newly discovered Western Brown.
Yep, the world doesn't get too creative with snakes. lol
Let's not forget the Inland Taipan, the second most deadly snake in the world. First place go's to the worst of the worst, and only found in Australia is the deadly Drop Snake.
Most but not all Tiger snakes have stripes, with darker colours possibly being an adaptation to colder climates. I've seen a few of these in Tasmania.
@@jackamo3108 Naaaah' !!! What, you've never been chased down a hill by a HOOP SNAKE !!!!
But... you still have to flip it over to see the colour of the belly. Unless it's standing on it's tail, coming for ya! And then I don't care what colour it's belly is!!!
“Razorback” is an old scary Aussie movie about a rampant wild boar
Had my friend Val's cattle dog in it
Jellendore taipan
Scary as!
I'd reccomend Wolf Creek as a good Aussie horror movie.
Dun dun dunnnn
@@symbungee That was terrifying. Excellent movie.
Kmart and Woolies are usually not in their own building, but are mostly both located within a large building along with Coles, Big W and many other variety shops. We call it a "shopping centre", and that's how you can have a full trolley from one store in another store. How are you so confused by this?
Explaining the concept of a mall to an American.
Unfortunately, in American shopping malls, the customers are expected to carry everything themselves. This is another reason I feel sorry for the average American. In Australia, upon arriving at a shopping centre you can find yourself a trolley (shopping cart). Put everything in it and take it practically anywhere inside.
@@larissahorne9991. You just have to keep your receipts handy and show them if necessary. Helps if items are already bagged at each store. I just call the staff member over to check my bags to avoid hassle.
Also, I take a swig of my opened soft drink as I enter the store so it will be on their closed circuit record in case I am challenged.
Well obviously its different in America or he wouldnt be asking
Always nice to catch up with what is going on here where I live. Good job Ryan
Yes and your reactions this week were super cute. Though tbh even as an Australian I was making the same reactions . Especially the kangaroo and the crickets
Ryan,
The washing machine is what we call a "Front Loader"
The two dumb-arses parked in the disability spots do not have disability signs which are normally displayed in the front bottom left of your windscreen. They were parked illegally. Also the antennas are for their cb radio's, the longer they are the better the bandwidth and a dual installation will increase the effective range approximately 25% over a single antenna installation.
As for the K-Mart trolley ... it is quite normal for people to shop at one store and then take the trolley to another store and pick up a few items to save a few trips to the car. The camera's are now picking up weather things are being scanned and payed for at the registers which is what has happened to the person with items in the K-Mart trolley. The customer would have to get the checkout supervisor of the register area to clear the registers warning notice to allow them to pay and also to leave the register area because there is also a gate that won't open if you haven't paid for goods. Security is higher than it used to be.
Disabled drivers must display a card inside their windscreen when they use disability parking. There’s an app to report offenders easily called Snap, Send, Solve, you take a photo and it sends to the right local authority. As a disabled driver who is frequently frustrated by non disabled drivers parking in the very limited number of disability parking spots I make full use of the app. Illegally park in the only disabled spot when I need one and find yourself with the $518 fine.
Didn’t know about the App, gonna have to install it.
I'm going to install that app. My sister is paraplegic courtesy of a drunk driver. She has to go home when dickheads to this sort of stuff. ☮️
@@_alifeallmine_I downloaded a couple of years ago. It’s very useful when shopping as you can plan ahead on ehere you’re able to park.
P plates mean PROBATIONARY LICENCE. When a potential driver passes his driving test after being on L plates for a period of time. The P platers still comply as a beginner driver - zero tolerance with alcohol permitted. Hope this clarifies. “P Plates”.
1978 cyclone Alby brought millions of tiger crickets (Indian house crickets) to the Perth metro area. At night, the chirping was incessant and it continued for more than 2 decades.
It was hell for tinnitus sufferers like myself.
dont go through the self checkouts,, demand a person, they just cause unemployment and the prices and profits keep going up
yep and also use cash
Yes. I do this. They get shitty with me - but I don't care. Last time they refused to open a normal staffed check out, and refused to let me thru the 15 items aisle, I left my $200 worth of groceries in the trolley and just walked away. One staff member called out to me; " Don't you want your groceries?" and I replied; " Not when you Clearly don't want my business!" She had no clue what I was talking about!
@@linmonash1244 I’ve never known a supermarket to do this. Every supermarket I’ve been to closes down the self-service section in the evening, (when most of the staff have finished their shift), forcing customers to use staff-operated checkouts.
Disability drivers must have a disability card attached to the windscreen. A red “P” plate driver is a first year driver. The next 2 years are green “P” plate and then you move to a full license.
…and the P stands for Provisional Licence because there are extra rules and they can take it off you easier than a regular licence.
Are green P plates NSW only, or all the east coast?
@@alwynemcintyre2184 no idea, sorry, I got my P plates in 1967 when there was only red and only for one year. P plates have been around for a looong time.

Hey Ryan, you need to go back to the Woolies camera thread and read the post after the kmart trolley one, it’s hilarious. Also can’t believe you haven’t had dim sims? They are my fav appetizer at Chinese restaurants.
Yep saw that one. It was rather hilariously bad 😂
The Babadook is a good Australian horror movie.
Wolf creek will probably scare the bejeezus out of you
Agreed. Wolf Creek is flat out terrifying. ☮️
Absolutely terrifying.
And to think. He was on Play School
Wolf Creek annoyed the bejesus out of me. A friend copied it onto a DVD and it was about 30 minutes of my life (and 50 cents) I'll never get back.
It went straight into the bin because it was too useless to use as a beer coaster or to inflict it on any of my friends.
@@jeromeshaw2248 no, he wasn't.
In Australia, we have a lot of shopping centres (malls) that usually have 2-3 supermarkets, a couple of big department stores, many speciality shops, a chemist, newsagent, hairdressers, jewellers, food court (where you can stop and eat) and nail salons etc. It literally is a one stop destination to get all the shopping you need. You use the same trolley throughout the shopping centre, doesn't matter if it's a coles trolley, big w trolley etc. In the end they all go in trolley bays at the carpark and trolley collectors that take the right trolleys back to their destination.
The marathon Dim Sims are the best 😋😋😋😋😋steamed or fried
The STALKER has a baby Joey in its pouch by the look of it, the stalker has a look out.
I had the Woolies self check-out freeze the pay transaction because I had stuff (from another store) still in the basket. The attendant had to come and check and unlock the terminal.
Self serve in grocery stores became popular during the covid and the tap and go card helped. The wet weather has made the ground soggy and released more crickets. Red Bellied Black Snakes are very chunky and is probably one of the less reactive snakes. More likely to run than attack.
All Australian aren't really aggressive. They are most aggressive October/November after hibernation.
I've seen a snake catcher online, looking at a red belly on the ground and sighing and awwing like it's a cute baby. He said...red bellies are like the puppy dogs of the snake world haha. To non Australians reading this, just so you know, they are calm but are still venemous.
Found money in freezer
Uh Frozen Assets???
Easy way to tell if an Australian animal is dangerous: if its name describes it or where it lives, it's dangerous. Redback spider, red belly black snake, brown snake, inland taipan, great white shark, green tree frog, yellow-footed rock wallaby, red kangaroo
What’s dangerous about a green tree frog? All you have to do is look out for green trees?
14:12 Pretty easy naming snakes. To identify them you just have to walk up and flip the snake over ;)-
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Not recommended though. 😬😳
🤣
Red P plates stand for ‘Provisional Licence’. They have passed their driving test and traffic rule knowledge test but they have to abide by restrictions for one year. If they do, they can apply to go onto green P plates for 2 years. Then they can apply for a full licence.
But if they lose points while on Ps it can extend the time at each stage or move back to red Ps or back to Learner Ls if really bad performance.
A lot of aerials on 4X4 vehicles are just people with too much money and are just for show, have no use other than looks, but the ones that are useful are UHF, ultra high frequency which is general use, VHF is not so common anymore but used for longer range communication and emergency services only, hefty fines apply to anyone who interrupts the emergency channels, other aerials are used to boost cellphone range in remote areas that typically wont get service.
Standing out the front on the concrete verandah last week and a 6 foot snake slid over my left foot. I had to wait for it to completely pass over my foot so I could follow it and identify it. It went and curled up in the front garden and never made any threatening movement toward me even when I was walking beside it.. I thought it was a juvenile brown snake until I realised how long it was. Turns out it was a Yellow Faced Whip Snake. Classified as "potentially dangerous". It was a beautiful snake and encounter. That black snake was warning the photographer and ready to strike. It's neck was flattened.

Wolf creek.
100 bloody achers.
Rogue.
There's more but I can't think of them atm 👍
Razorback
Cargo, the babadook
Edit: acres not achers
The cricketsappear to be in a caravan park toilet and shower block, probably out in the country. The light attracts them.
There are 4 species of black snake (red, yellow, white, and blue), with the red probably the most common. The crickets are seasonal and very bloody noisy. I recently ran over a young tiger snake with the ride on mower, but didn't realize until I went past the second time, Poor little guy. About 18" long but just as deadly as a full grown.
there are 9 species of snake in the Pseudechis genus (black snake)
mulga snake
butler snake
collets snake
blue bellied black snake
eastern dwarf mulga snake
papuan black snake
red bellied black snake
papuan pygmy mulga snake
pygmy mulga snake.
none of them are called yellow belly or white belly snakes, yellow belly is an incorrect name for a harmless common tree snake, white belly is a common name for a north american rat snake neither are in the black snake genus.
Ryan best Australian horror movie has to be wolf creek
Yes! 👍
Not Picnic at Hanging Rock?
Snowtown gave me nightmares
Agree
@@mjb7015Definitely Picnic!!!!
In our shopping centres we have many stores, so if you go to Kmart and buy items, you can walk into another store with the trolley to purchase more items while still moving about with your Kmart items
Yeah you have to watch wolf Creek, it's a composite of true stories
Disable parking you need a permit showing on your windscreen inside of course.
Any Australian animal would make a better PM than ScoMo!
Yep, he's lower than a snake's belly.
So, “not holding a hose” during the bushfires was Scomo’s way of getting rid of the competition?
Australian version of "malls" are shopping centres, that include grocery stores (eg woolies) & variety stores (eg Kmart) & really common to grab a few groceries after kmart etc & of course taking the trolley in too, rather than back to the car to empty before returning for the few grocery items. Note, stores like kmart here do NOT sell groceries (other than lolies & choccies)
We used long antennae like this for traffic patrol cars in rural areas where there was poor radio reception. Very useful.
The plastic fantastic notes are pretty durable, I had a five dollar note go through a hot wash with strong detergent and the only damage was a slight fading of the colour.
The downside of polymer bank notes is that they are slippery and hard to grip or separate from other notes that are against them.
How tf are those bananas? 🤣🤣 🍌
That snake, a Red Belly Black Snake, well, there’s currently once of those slithering around my daughter’s school somewhere. They haven’t found it yet, but there are signs up warning the kids that one of Australia’s most venomous snakes is hanging out in the area and at the beginning of February, there were a series of messages sent out telling the kids that this snake was seen in the middle of the school and twice told the kids “IF YOU SEE THIS SNAKE, DO NOT TOUCH IT!”
I also read a FB post the other day from, I presume, a high school kid seeking an ID on a snake she removed from her classroom. Thankfully, it was only a Diamond Python and not venomous but I’m still a bit stunned that the teacher allowed this kid to pick up this snake and move it outside!
I saw one a few months ago on a walk.
We get thoses dam crickets here in new Zealand too.
My sister and I knew her phone had been hacked when the following happened. We were both about to get into our car when I received a call supposedly from her.
I am so tired of cleaning up crickets in the house
None in the house but lots of noisy buggers outside 😂
We were inundated by those little black Portuguese millipedes.
The snake question, other than it's Black and likely to have a red belly.... why it's head seems wider than the body, it's flattened itself on the warm hard ground (rocky) to warm up - they're cold-blooded and need outside heat for thermal regulation.
Highly recommend Black Sheep. It's Kiwi but one of those low budget absolutely hilarious horror flicks.
If you actually want to traumatise your kid, show them Jindabyne
If you want Australian horror films then watch "Wolf Creek". It's very good. If you are Australian and bourn in the 80s to early 2000s then the main character is even more terrifying as the actor was previously a household name in the family television catagory.
That snake is a Red belly indeed 😊
Red belly black snakes like to hide under a refrigerator if they get into the house
One of my work colleagues had to call in the snake catcher last Wednesday to get it out. And then he found what seemed to be a 2nd one. It had shed its skin on the kitchen floor
Yay😢
I don't believe there is any such thing as a yellow belly black snake. If it's black with a yellow belly, it's a Tiger Snake.
Google is your friend - prior to making comments like this one.
It's a front loader not an upright.
The photo is from an odd angle, though.
It's a common sight in Australia 7 aerials 1 radio.
Crickets in the public toilets. They’re completely harmless.
G'day Mate! My local shopping centre/mall has a Coles, a Woolies and a Kmart and it is not unusual for people to grab things at Kmart before going into Coles or Woolies for groceries. Hence the Kmart trolley(shopping cart). BTW I personally refuse to use the self serve checkouts now due to the video surveillance... Cheers!
The wombat cartoon was referencing ScumMo's Hawaiian holiday in 2019, while significant parts of the country were ablaze. He was..."economical"...with the truth surrounding the circumstances of his trip. It wasn't until another Aussie spotted him there and posted about it on social media, that the public even knew he had left.
"I don't hold a hose, mate!"
The quote was from Morrison when asked why he was holidaying in Hawaii While his country was burning, homes being lost, people dying. Insensitive at best.
It was one of the reasons he was voted out, the prick.
Under the Commonwealth Constitution of Australia, local issues such as bushfires and floods within a state are strictly state matters. The Federal Govt, led by the Prime Minister, has to wait to be asked to join the effort. That is usually some emergency declaration that frees up Fed money so states can pay for any actions on accommodation, food, medical services, etc. Also use of Federally owned emergency equipment like water drop planes can be requested.
This is why ScoMo was not rushing in re bushfires, because he was waiting for stubborn selfish state premiers to request Fed help. They wanted to make him look bad & didn’t want to lose their spotlight.
Same with Albo during floods. It’s up to state premier to ask for Fed help.
States are very protective of their bailiwick and reject Fed interference.
@@coraliemoller3896Exactly! Some don’t let truth get in the way of a good story 😂
@@Reneesillycar74 and the truth of the matter is that a true leader would have come back straight away even just to offer moral support, but then again the words moral and Scott Morrison don't exactly go together. Compare that to Malcolm Fraser's response during the Ash Wednesday bushfires - they are chalk and cheese. Same party but polar opposite moral compasses.
The crickets are looking for water.
I went to Woolies today and the checkout wouldn't let me go because I had a Bakers Delight loaf of bread in my trolley. The attendant had to come over and prove it wasn't from that store. I feel like a crminal.
Our disabled stickers sit on the dashboard
Saw. Is a great Aussie horror move
We've had self checkouts for years but they're ramping up in number now as the supermarkets now have better security technology.
2:45 you can tell because they don't have a disability "sticker" on their dash which is required by law to have to park in those bays.
Woolies likes to steal from their customers but don't like the customers stealing from them.
You should see the disability sticker/sign on the passenger side windshield. That said, we’ve definitely forgotten to display the card before 😅 11:06 yep that’s why, we had a bug come in last night to lay on the cool tile.
The noise in that amenities block must have been insane
U did well - faking enthusiasm is both sweet and proof that running a CZcams channel gives you great Acting experience.
I am Disabled and drive a cruiser when I go to town. I also have a sign for my windshield
Wolf Creek is horrifying, as is Kadaicha (an 80’s aussie horror film about a curse being put on a community that was built on sacred land - hmm, now that I think of it - probably culturally insensitive…. ) But it scared the absolute living shit out of me when I watched it as a child. As did Frog Dreaming - starring Elliot from ET (which was filmed in the quarry behind my neighbourhood)
An oldie horror movie - The cars that ate Paris.
Dim Sims at the old fashioned fish and chip shop yummy
Its a frontloader ryan 😊 and p plates (green and red)are for probationary drives, and a lot of our stores are incorporated into plazas so you just get your trolley from one and use it in all the shops...a dim sim is nothing to do with China lol
Snowtown gave me the horrors
I drink water and have never had a drink of coke
Worse is when you find a cricket in your coffee
I’ve never been inside a Woolies as long as that! WOW!
I have a disability parking permit and once tried to ask someone to go and deal with it when a large tradie van with no permit took two spots. The center’s management said only the police could deal and so I rang the police, who are located directly over the road, and they said they couldn’t fine because it was private property and go to centre management 🙄. As I said under another comment up thread, many of us are willing to pay a small fee for the permit with the money going to the salary of even part time people to actually fine people. It wouldn’t have to get everyone, just enough to have people worry that they may get a fine. Right now, it’s common to see 50% of spots taken by cars without a permit. At least in Vic, no one cares.
To explain the cameras in the Wool(z)worths photo, you're not looking down an individual aisle, rather (as there's a fairly standardised store layout) this is the back of the store, and each camera is giving a fish-eye view down the parallel aisles running perpendicular to this end space.
The short , short looking devices on the front of the car are for holding fishing rods whilst parked on the beach.
Former Primer Minister Scott Morrison made a massive blunder by going on vacation to Hawaii during the 2019-2020 bushfires. Nice one Scomo. Hence the cartoon showing a Wombat dressed up like Smokey the Bear.

Disabled papers are often on the dashboard, but young people do sometimes ignore the notices. The car on the right has Red P Plates = Provisional Licence and subject to restrictions, so for him, parking there could cost him $400 and the loss of his licence.
Woolies surveillance hass seemingly surpassed those in casino's
Razorback is an Aussie horror movie.
I'm disabled. Ppl who don't have a disabled parking permit but park in disabled spots really shit me up the wall. 4WDs just add insult to injury 😅
When parked in a disabled parking spot you have a disabled sticker/form (held by a suction cup) you can/are supposed to display on your dashboard.
In relation to the crickets: She appears to be in a public bathroom. I'm guessing they're there for the water.

Just a quick note about the "big brother" topic. It is not just Woolies... In fact all of Australia is under surveillance. And a lot of it is to do with the government. Some areas like the poppy fields in Tassie and pine gap in NT/SA are under high security surveillance via satellites. Australia is just part of one "big brother project"

I've seen many red bellies in the bush. I used to think I was safe by wading in creeks but one day I saw a red belly slither into the water and swim away. I wasn't so confident after that.
My first close encounter with a red belly I was walking down a creek. Lifted my foot to step to the next stone and the red belly swam right under it. I also had one visit my pond each summer to swim around catching frogs.
The short antennas are UHF, the medium antennas are VHF and the long yellow antennas might be HF. CB radios work at different ranges (eg UHF is only line of sight).
Vehicles that travel in dune country will place flags on extended poles to alert other drivers of their presence to avoid head-on accidents.

Black snakes flatten their necks out to make themselves look bigger. I know other snakes try, but other than the cobra, the black genre/family/species/whatever/type seem to do it really well and better than most.
The shorter anntena are for hilly country, the long ones for flat country. Different wave lengths
Self serve checkouts are not dystopian. I've been through them hundreds of times, along with others going through them at the same time, and haven't seen any negative issues. There's always a staff member on hand whom in all interactions with customers I've seen are assisting them with, for example, identifying a fresh-produce product, or if a customer comes in with large heavy items, such as a ten litre container of water, they will immediately manually input the item onto the screen so the customer doesn't have to lift the heavy the items out of the trolley.
