I have lived in Thailand 2 years before and visited the country regularly since 1989. Been living the last 4 years in the Philippines. Food: Thailand is by far the winner, it's not even a competition. Language : The Philippines is a clear winner, most people, but far from all, speaks good English, but they prefer their dialect. Housing: If you compare Cebu to Pattaya, it's another indisputable victory to Thailand. For the same amount, you will get a larger condo in Pattaya and the selection is a 100 times better and you get more sqm for the same price. A huge win to the Philippines when it comes to visa. You can extend and extend until you have been there for 3 years, absolutely no requirements. After 3 years you have to fly out, but you can turn around at the airport and fly straight back and you have 3 more years where you can keep on extending. Just be aware, when you have been there for more than 6 months, you need a police clearance to leave the country, you will get it at the immigration office.

I think Thailand beats the Philippines in almost every aspect but the most important one being able to stay there for a long time if you're not having a lot of money coming in Philippines wins that category. I've been to Thailand in the Philippines I'm going back to Thailand this October language does not bother me at all. I stayed with a local that I've known for 3 years and we just use Google translate no problem

Well Done + I agree that Thailand is the winner !! Hey, quick Question... have read a number of recent Google reviews on Copacabana is having problems, perhaps not being managed very well and as a consequence may not be the Best choice as it once was. What is Your opinion ?? Respectfully requested, James

"They've experienced a surge in short-term rentals and have recently brought on a new security and management team to address issues. While it's a fantastic location and project, the influx of people can sometimes lead to frustrations such as waiting for elevators, crowed pools, ect. and increased wear and tear on the building." However, it is the busy season perhaps it will improve with new management and less people in the rainy season. Starts in July-October. Hope that helps. Thanks for your comment.
