  • mikesinventions.etsy.com I always need to know the amp draw of electrical devices, so I'm building a simple small cord that allows me to measure the amp draw with a simple clamp meter from Harbor Freight. Plug my device into this short cord, take a measurement, then take the cord off. It's not a permanent device. It also allows me to measure neutral and ground should the need arise. A note though: A clamp meter can only be used to measure AC current, and it has to be clamped around a single conductor, which is typically impossible. This cord makes it easy to take a quick measurement.

I was hoping you'd make a fancy arduino one with a data logger and a integrated screen, but i guess this does the job just fine.

Reading the gnd when you're testing a two wires heater, LOL!!!

Do you consider the soldered connections strong enough? I was expecting you to perform some kind of magical splice.

Just a little advice, stagger the cuts and splices. Just FYI.
