The Clapper (Clapboard) - Mikes Inventions
mikesinventions.etsy.com patreon.com/121mike
The Clapboard lets me easily sync my audio and video files. I 3D printed the clapper, but you could easily make yours out of wood and make the stripes with some clever masking tape. The body of the clapper is acrylic so it's dry-eraseable by default. Then I painted the back side white so the marker is legible. That's it. Check it out!

Mike's Quick Tips - #21 - Lathe Holding
zhlédnutí 87Před 2 měsíci
mikesinventions.etsy.com Quick Tip 21 shows you an alternative way you might want to hold something on your lathe. I was stumped for 8 seconds until I saw the solution standing at the other end of the shop. You can use a similar method when you have no other way to hold your workpiece.
Mike's Quick Tips - #20 - Make Your Caulk Fit
zhlédnutí 241Před 2 měsíci
mikesinventions.etsy.com Did you ever run into a situation where your caulk didn't fit? I have several times, and this video shows you a simple way to get your caulk into place where it ordinarily couldn't so that you can easily fill the crack or gap.
Expensive Gift Box - Mikes Inventions
zhlédnutí 241Před 4 měsíci
mikesinventions.etsy.com The Expensive Gift Box is made from two types of wood and holds as decent bit of jewelry or other expensive gifts. I show you how I made it, and the design choices and other obstacles along the way. That's why it's lengthy. I want to make sure you can make one more easily than I did. I hope this helps. The box itself also makes a great gift, but it's certainly better if...

mikesinventions.etsy.com We did this again, 6 years later as part of Alex's birthday. He thought you all might want to see it. So here I am again with something completely off the wall. Some people just love trains and never grow out of it. I've come to appreciate them more since my boys like them. Getting stopped by a train doesn't bother me anymore. This video was shot near the Prairie Spirit...

mikesinventions.etsy.com Porch Screening was a good title I thought. Hopefully you agree. I show you how we screened in our back porch. It only cost a few hundred dollars and maybe 20 dad-kid hours to do. This was one of our better home improvements.
SNUBA System 2 - Mikes Inventions
zhlédnutí 754Před 10 měsíci
mikesinventions.etsy.com I seriously upgraded my SNUBA (hookah) system, and it's amazing. It's not really an upgrade, but an entirely new system. I show you how I did it, and some interesting snags along the way. This version uses an old US Divers Conshelf regulator and a McGraw hotdog compressor from Harbor Freight. There's an air-filter inline just in case. Obviously there is probably residua...
FREE Pool Heater - Mikes Inventions
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 11 měsíci
mikesinventions.etsy.com Alex and I made a pool heater out of some copper tubing my grandfather-in-law gave me way back in... 2017? We always wanted to make a solar water heater with it, but we ended up coiling it all up and using it to heat the in-law's pool. We used somewhere between 50 and 100' of 3/8 copper tubing and spiraled it over a steel X frame I welded up out of 1/2" angle iron. The ...
Industrial Pipe Shelf Build - Mikes Inventions

mikesinventions.etsy.com This video shows how I built some shelves out of pipes. It's very easy, but there are a few "gotchas" I wanted to point out. I guess I'll just spoil the fun right here and let you know what they are in case you don't want to watch it all. But why wouldn't you want to, really? Don't loosen pipes once you've tightened them. They get floppy. Make sure all your distances be...
Simple Picture or Book Rails - Mikes Inventions

mikesinventions.etsy.com Simple Picture or Book Rails shows you how I took some cheap MDF and made some nice shiny white picture rails that can also be used for books! The 1/2" MDF strips were cut 2.5, 2.5, and 1.5" wide then glued together with Titebond 3 wood glue. They didn't require any doweling because of their size, which simplifies the build immensely. I did complicate things a bit by ad...
Are There More Stars or Sand? - Mikes Inventions

mikesinventions.etsy.com I've long wondered if there are more stars in the galaxy and beyond... OR are there more grains of sand on a beach? For anyone wondering, it is possible, but you need a few conditions: 1. Cool the liquid to 2-4 celcius 2. As the ice dissolves shake the bottle for 3 to 5 minutes 3. After that keep it in fridge for at least an hour and you should be good Pro tip, it's better to use plastic bottles filled up to 80% and when dropping the ice squeeze, so the only gas that's inside is CO2.

this was so incredibly helpful. since i moved into my apartment months ago, my bathroom sink has drained so slowly that it always left a layer of gunk in the bowl, and i finally decided to do something about it. this video helped me remove the stopper (which i didn't realize COULD be removed), and i was able to remove the rat sized hair and gunk ball that the previous tennant left, and now it drains perfectly

I did this mod on what I can tell exactly the same UPS. One word of wisdom to share- do not put much load on it without also doing a fan mod. Mine overheated after around an hour, shut off and never worked again. I did not place more load on it than it was rated for, but I think the assumption by their engineers is that the duty cycle will be limited due to the limited duration of the included batteries.
