Just a short video to show how I have stopped the camera shake on the P1000 when it is zoomed out to 3000 + mm. By moving the balance point of the front heavy camera to a more central point.
Hi Sorry Lonnie . The lens support bracket was just a sperious one bought from ebay & then cut down to the size i needed. I cannot help with model & name. I just checked my purchase history on ebay & cannot find it I sold the setup about a year ago. Regards. Steve.
@@Steviegtr52 Hi Steve, I saw the name of the mount on the box in your hand. It is a Manfrotto 293 Telephoto Lens support. It looks like a nice one too.
@@Steviegtr52 no dought nikon p-1000 is to heavy even in the manfrotto 293 on tripod reason why I decided to used the gimball. This camera is only used on long haul photography. Normally on normal trips I travel with my Nikon D3300.
Thx to Michel over at Rustinox for having his viewrs come check out you channel. The knock off recorder I bought needed a way (without more cost ) to swivel at move angles, and used a rear view car's mirror to adhesive my goal. Like the what you did to steady yours. Bear in TX.
Thanks for the comment. Since i posted the video I found that using my GTI starfinder that once set up was amazing at tracking the stars slowly without any wobble.
You don’t need to cut the bracket. Unscrew the back camera support and position the bracket over that screw. Remount the camera support over the bracket.
Yes it would work that way. I did consider doing that but found it would mean undoing for adjustment. Where this setup just uses the thumbwheel. Thanks for the comment. Steve.
Many thanks for the idea! The P1000 is a fantastic camera but the camera shake was giving me fits. Bought the part you listed. I didn't bother cutting out the semi-circle at the end since it really didn't serve a functional purpose to begin with, just did a straight cut and deburr. I just ended up repurposing a cheapo tripod mount screw from a flimsy tripod that was hand turnable, and screwed that in in the reverse direction, it holds the slot in place nice and tight. I cut quite a bit more off the slide because I wanted to be able to have a super short adjustment, looks a bit wonky but does a fine job!
go with the skywatcher az gti mount, it is fantastic for solar system tracking and also deep sky if you switch it over to eq, just subbed to you i like your work 👍
Hi . Since i posted this video i have fitted a AZGTI motor drive to a Manfrotto tripod. I control this with my phone app & the camera remotely with a Nikon wireless remote. I find the whole setup much more stable now. .
It is a Manfrotto 293 Telephoto Lens support. It was a long time ago purchased. I cannot remember where i bought it. But google the part No should find it. Regards. Steve.
Hi thanks for the comment. The main aim was to keep the camera stable , while on the tripod. I have since fitted a motor mount & it follows the moonshots much better than before. Due to it being smooth & that you do not touch the camera with hands. All remote controlled. .
Yes you can. But at any kind of high zoom you will need a tripod. When doing the Moon shots i use a sturdy tripod & the skywatcher to follow the star. Without that it would be very hard to do.
I'm glad you finally told us the name and model number of the lens support bracket.

Great video, that tripod looks very good quality 👌
It really is!
I did the same thing you did on the manfrotto 293, to my Nikon coolpix p-1000 . But I used a Benro gimball on my Benro tripod
That sounds good . Did it work well for you.

That's great . A result. Take care & get some great shots & video.

Hi there. I took your advice & bought the AZ-GTI it is very good & tracks the stars brilliantly.
@@Steviegtr52 great, i look forward to your next video
The slide that you’ve cut, what’s the measurements now?
Thanks for sharing.
Hi. Fully closed it is 110mm. It opens to around 130mm. At 110mm it fits just in the right spot on the camera.
@@Steviegtr52 Thank you 😊
Maybe using a telescope motor tripod can reduce the shaking..as it is with a telescope

Is it work with p600 ?
Sorry i am not sure of your question. This camera is a P1000 , not sure if it would work on any other camera.
Steve.
i was thinking, something like a weapon vertical foregrip for better support. :p

So you can not shoot hand held with this camera
