Not a huge fan of these, but the attention to detail in this is stunning!! Real credit to the owner! Dave at the gtr heritage ctr does turn iut some cracking cars (he's from up here 👍).
Cheers Dave. I think he told me that the engine was built by the Heritage centre. Never went mad over that model myself but the attention to detail was remarkable. Good luck for the racing. Steve.
😁
nice car Steve👍👍👍👍👍👍 hope he's got a steering lock😉😉 see you next time Kev
Me tto. Stunning car. Steve
Nice fix. It's great to have a shop to fix our own stuff.
@MyLilMule yes. Great to have our workshops. Steve.
Nicely done Steve! Look forward to the next one 👍
Thanks Dave. A few more jobs to do now. Steve
Sometimes, it's resolving the little issues that can bring the most satisfaction. Nicely done!
Cheers Chris. Yes your right. Just a little mod & now they are so much better. Steve.
Great mod steve
Thanks Andrew. Simple & effective. Steve.
nice solution Steve where there's a will there's a way👍👍👍👍👍👍😉😉😉😉 cheers Kev
Good job Steve! Certainly doesn't look like a home gamers mod! That could, and should be factory!
Great vlog Steve! a job I must tackle on my Chimaera! It only ever goes up to 3/4 no matter how much I fill it! I have extended the brackets that hold the back board with two bolts & knurled nuts so it’s flush with the edge of the tank, I can now store my tool kit, tow rope, air pump & other bits in the void were the speakers are & can access them by undoing the nuts & removing the panel, (not so easy with the CD changer) I think TVR fitted Pioneer stereo & speakers from new & the rear speakers were an aftermarket mod done many,
Great idea moving the bulkhead back for storage. Thanks for the comment. Steve.
You're back! woohoo. Great watch, look forward to the next one!
@@bigirch690 should be soon Rich. Lots to do. Dad.
Ey up Steve, good to see you. Electronics, inherently unreliable and prone to failure! That's what we Mechs say anyway! Best wishes, Dean.
Thanks Dean. Yes the electrics. Most of them are from Vauxhall cavalier. With a few Ford bits thrown in. Cheers. Steve.
eyup Steve yes your right about jobs to do now summer here, !!!!! still i'd rather do them myself. Gremlins in cars are my pet hate, hope your all fixed now, see you on next one cheers👍👍 Kev
Hi Kev. Well i think there will always be bits to do on an old car. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
A tricky little problem well fixed
Why do I hanker after my own problematic money pit so much? 🤔 Oh yes, the noise!
Thanks for that Andrew. Steve.
Now you just need the Evolution Chassis (Gordon Murray said these TVRs had the worst designed/rigid chassis he'd EVER tested on the McLaren chassis rig! This uprated chassis means it would corner as well as it should!) Then that lovely Rover V8 taken out to 5.3-5.5ltr and Wildcat heads fitted (good for an extra 100bhp!) hotter cam, forged pistons, titanium exhaust manifolds and exhaust and ITBs? Shouldn't be too difficult for a highly skilled man like yourself and surely that wouldn't be too expensive? Hahaha! It's an absolutely STUNNING car and I am SO JEALOUS that I wanna cry!
aha nice one. I after spending lots of money doing this, should have stuck with the Ftype. Thanks for the comments Dave. 😀😀😀. Steve.
It is out to 4650cc with a race cam. A bit rough on tickover. Verier timing sprockets. Baffled sump. Upgraded ecu. Goes like a bat from hell. New springs. 4 pot calipers & larger discs, drilled & grooved. Steve.
Hi Stevie, I've just got the same mill and put a 2hp single phase motor on mine. It came with a load of terrible welded home made tooling so I'm about to purchase some more. I just wanted to make sure the spindle is 2mt? Also just noticed you're also a ham! de Lee (M0RQX)
Hi Lee Yes it is morse taper 2. Some say they are not very rigid but I have taken cuts with a 60mm face mill with no problems. Yes Ham radio. M7DOZ. I bought a 991A multiband & put 2 huge aerials up. One for the multi & another for 2Mtr. Did some great DX work & then sort of lost interest. Not used it for quite a while now. Maybe get back into it at some stage. Hope the Mill works out well for you. Would'nt change mine for any other. Steve.
@@Steviegtr52 Cheers Steve, I'll get some tooling ordered (more money!) 73s!
We put leek and swede in ours
Hi Em. Yes anything goes in a stew. Dad.
Lovely - all round to yours next Saturday night? But seriously, I'd be murdered if I dared to make anything in different sized 'his' and 'hers' portions.
Haha. Well Bev is trying to loose weight.
yummy yummy Steve, don't drop that dumpling on your toe😄😄👍👍👍👍👍👍 atb Kev
Haha very funny. It did actually beat me. Only managed 3/4 of it. Thats why I usually do 150gm flour. This time i got over gready & did 200gm's. Serves me right I guess. Thanks for the comment Kev. Steve.
@Steviegtr52 you could have saved me some
The steak and ale pie is fantastic was there 3 weeks back and went twice for the pie in one week.
I think it was because the covid closedown took it's toll. I guess now it is fresh again.
Plenty of little jobs to keep you busy Steve!

nice job on the tracking Steve looks like some useful modifications up and coming, like your enthhusiasm see you next time Kev
Thanks Kev. Lots of other stuff too. Probably over the next 2 years. Steve.🙂🙂🙂
well done on the tracking I never doubted it was right lol. Enjoy the beast.
Cheers Andrew. Drives so much better now. Still getting used to the tractor type driving of a TVR. Steve.😄😄😄
I do need a steady for my lathe, and will get this kit in the near future. I think though I'll deviate for the hinge and just just half mill each opposing side rather than the slot & ears design the plans call for. Much easier to make and In my mind each side being thicker and stronger. Nice work. Making my through your build videos.
Hello there. Yes it would be much easier to do it that way. Like you say also stronger. Thanks for the comment. Steve.
Steve has your exhaust been decatted?
I was told by a previous owner that the 2 precats had been removed. The main cat is still intact i beleive. It passed an MOT just before I bought it . No mention of any emission problems. Steve.
It does sound well
Thanks Dom. Yes it is music to the ears. Steve.
Hi Steve. Nice video! They do sound lovely with the standard exhaust system! You should look to get onto a track day, tvrcc have organised a couple for this year 👍
Thanks Dave. MMn was thinking about the track days. Steve.
Was hoping to see a name on your ending of the dirty garage that messed up and didn’t align the wheels before putting it out on the road, glad you got it sorted in the end, I’ve now learned how alignment works now 😊
Hi Rich. I was going to but was not sure of tube rules. So thought best not. Dad.
"Well, there was..." hahahahahhahaha 😃👍
Thanks for that Wachuko. Steve.
yes... it does sound wonderful...well done
Thanks Andrew. Nice to see you have lots of subscribers now. Brilliant. Steve.
Great video reminds me of my tvr days next time put camera on rear with roof down love the sound of the V8 yes and trim that bush lol sunny side up T and dog 👍
I think you have had more V8's than all of us. I do remember that TVR with the Cherry bombs on. Was a great car. Steve.
I've been watching too many dashcam channels. I was waiting for the mishap to happen... Great result with the steering, and you're right about that burble.
Yes John it is very addictive. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
Great job Steve very pleased you have cracked it. i need some of those automatic gates!!! you need a automatic lock when they have closed!🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 see you next time atb Kev
Hi Kev. Those gates with motors cost a grand total of £150. A company in Leeds does house & grounds clearance. It's some sort of charity group. Thats where they came from. The garage door was £120 2nd hand. Cheapskate or what. Thanks for the feedback. Steve.
So glad Ive seen this.
Thanks for that Rob. Steve.
Thats a great video. Really enjoyed watching it.
Thanks Rob.Appreciate the comment. Steve.
Nice one Steve, I wonder how many cars out there are driving around with wonky alignment.
Hi Dean. Yes & wearing one edge of the tyres out quickly. Steve.
eyup Steve you've learned me something there, always been a black art to me, never even knew you could get the diy trackng unit hope its much better👍👍👍👍👍👍 hope you do a follow up atb Kev
Hi Kev. Yes there are various types. There is one that you just drive the car onto 2 plates . Don't know how they work but Ed China did a vid using them. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
Steve, how dare you take that car out without us, last week! And also ending the video without the requisite test drive immediately afterwards to verify what you've just done!! Please remember that you have the attention of fellow petrolheads, here, waiting to be entertained for free. I mean, jumping in and out of that lovely vehicle and taking it for a spin - it's not like we're asking you to get down on your knees and back up again. 😄
Hi Chris. I humbly apologise. I am still working on making camera mounts to fit in the car. At some point I will get it sorted out. Steve.
@Steviegtr52 Apology accepted! 😁 Keep up with the series, we're all loving it.
Hey Stevie when you make a steering rod adjustment you should put car back to level ground and then move car backwards then forward to check adjustments made to let suspension to settle and that o/s/f wheel sitting on that carpet strip will affect track readings
Eyup. Yes I know but the tracking was so far out that anything to let me drive to try out was enough. It was so dangerous as it was. After my run this weekend I will recheck again & see where we are. Thanks for the very precise comment. I may do a post test to see where it is . Steve.
I'm replacing all the suspension on my Chimaera, setting the toe on front and rear and doing the camber etc - definitely farming that one out to someone else!
Hi Will. It is not that hard to do really. But Iv'e always been into car stuff all my life so enjoy doing it. Plus being retired money is not too abundant any more. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
Recommended by rusty knox Made me very hungry.
Thanks for that. I need to go back there at some point. Steve.
Oh my Steve. That was a task and a half. 🫣🥴😵💫 Well done on getting there. 👏👏👍😀
Thanks Andrew. Yes it was a task +. Would have been much easier with 2 people doing it. But it's all done now & the handbrake is holding so much better now. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
Quite the task Steve. I hope the bugger lasts a long time.
There are no receipts in the history of a new handbrake cable. So i guess it was 23 years old. So this one should last me out. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
Well done Steve. It's a crappy job to do. One of the happiest mods to the racer was taking it off 😂
Cheers Dave. Well last night i went out in the car & gave the brakes a good hard test. The handbrake is now working a lot better. The brake pedal is long though. I have gone from one piston caliper at the front to four, so maybe it is using a bit more fluid. But they work great. The engine is mental & I'm sure as quick as the Ftype was. But it has had some serious mods in it's life. +50 liners making 4650cc. Sports cam. Vernier timing . Baffled sump. Upgraded ecu. Precats removed. I have a readout of a rolling road teast done at I think TVR performance. 286 at rear wheels. Which equates to about 335 at the flywheel. With a ton, I guess thats why it takes off like a scolded cat. The Ftype was nearly 2 tons with 550 BHP. Take care see you on the next vid. The car does wonder around on hard acceleration. I have some laser tracking guages coming this week as I am sure the front is towing out a lot. Steve.
@Steviegtr52 Nice one! Tracking will make a massive difference, they are quite sensitive to it. I'd maybe bleed the brakes again now you've had a proper heat cycle through them just to check. And if still long maybe worth double checking master cyl seals? But as long as you end up with a pedal you're happy with and know that's what matters 👍
Thank for the upload. Very helpful.
Your welcome.
I recommend you watch Kurtis at Cutting Edge Engineering. He's made some boring bars about 60mm diameter and about 600mm long. He posts a video every Friday morning of what work he's done during the week. His wife expertly films and edits the videos.
Hi Petter. I have been watching Kurtis, wife,& dog for a while now. He does some amazing work. Plus the size of some of his machinery. Thanks for the comments. Steve.
Saw you have it on a battery tender always, my multistrada DVT 1200s battery won’t last 6 days without a tender connected, doesn’t matter if it’s a lead or gel or even lithium none of them makes it to a week
Hi Claudio. Yes i have used the battery optimate since new. It is hard to tell if the battery is low because of how slow the engine turns anyway. But in over 5 years never had a problem & same battery from new. I have just sold the bike due to me getting older & the heavy bike. So I have bought a smaller BMW F800st which is much lighter but also much less power. Steve.
Love your seat; is it just a cover you bought and installed on the original seat or is a whole new setup
Hi Claudio. The seat cover is a permanant. The origonal one has to be unstappled & removed, then replaced with this one. It came for Italy. I did fit it & it was quite hard to get it in just the right place. But looks good. Steve.
