- On November 29, 2020 a terrible accident occurs in Formula 1. Romain Grosjean 34 years old will hit the safety barriers and will get stuck in his F1 on fire for long seconds. Thanks to incredible composure and the prowess of technology at work in improving the safety of motor racing, he will only be slightly injured.

Hi everyone! I simply wanted to do a massive shout out to all of you who recently watched, liked and commented the video. Couldn't have imagined to reach 200k views back in March when the vid only had less than 1000 views.
Also thank you all so much for letting me know about the incertain use of the word "tribute" in the title. Back in march I knew he wasn't dead at all, but to me the word "tribute" meant more like an act, a statement intended to show gratitude, respect or even admiration to Romain Grosjean and the way he went out of the flames like a phoenix.
Nevertheless, thank you so much for the nice comments you left, I've very glad that you liked the way I edited this moment that certainly went down in the F1 history.
Stay safe! ~

I also would like to thank the man who kept pushing himself towards that huge fire trying to locate and pull Grosjean out. This is not a stove or camp fire which we can’t even go close without feeling the burn. Salute.
Dr. Ian Roberts.
Dr Ian Roberts, the Formula One doctor. He was in the medical car that always chases the first lap - and this is why it does!
Unfortunately that guy is an antivaxxer and can no longer do his role
@@unthenner5519the doctors an antivaxxer 😂 how stupid do you feel 2 months later
You can see how hard it is to do with the first guy with a fire extinguisher there. He can't even get close enough to do much to help with that fire extinguisher. The two from the med car definitely heros though.
gotta salute the bravery of the marshalls and medical car crew...those guys are the real legends
True, they had zero hesitation to run in.
“28 Seconds to Live” sounds like an amazing movie title.
Fr. But I dont get still why 28? Like after 30 itll Explored or what?
@@sonkatrojakova8113 The suit is rated for 30 seconds, after that all bets are off.
I watched that F1 race. Every second that ticked by seemed so much longer than just a second. The longer I watched I began to believe I was watching the last moments of a man’s life. I began to cry. It was like time stood still. The horror on the faces of crew members, team principles and drivers only made it worse. When I saw movement in what was left of the car, I was cautiously optimistic. When Romain Grosjean leapt onto the guardrail, the tears really started to flow. What was almost certainly going to be a horrific outcome turned into a hallelujah miracle moment! That is absolutely what that was, no matter how you define “miracle”. In July of 2022 at IMS, I had the opportunity to shake Romain Grosjean’s hand and tell him how delighted I am to have him in the Indy car series, and in reality, how glad I am that he survived. I stood in line for 2 1/2 hours in the blazing hot sun on asphalt that felt like it was melting my shoes, however, nothing like the heat he endured, for that chance. The sunburn and sore feet were worth it. It was my privilege to shake his hand. I can’t explain why I made it my mission that day, I guess I felt a certain affinity for him, not as a driver, but as a man who survived the un-survivable. He has niched a place in this old gals racing heart. That brief encounter with Romain Grosjean stands out as one of my most memorable fan experiences.
Lighten up Francis
Like most of us watching, you also had those dark thoughts get erased just as they began. Him jumping over the guardrail should be a meme for future use of the word Phoenix
A living testament to the engineering skill of the teams who produced the car that kept him alive during the impact, The race suit and helmet that protected him from being incinerated and for that thing inside us that stops us from giving up...
truly incredible.
In his interview just for a second he said to himself, “this is it!” But then he thought of his kids and said, “I can’t go out now.” And that’s what kicked in his will to live. Truly amazing.
so many factors aligned right. for example the medical car following the peloton for the first lap - it arrived just few seconds after the crash. the cockpit halo introduced just few years ago prevented Grosjean from receiving lethal injuries and allowed him to stay conscious. the requirements for pilot costumes to withstand the fire were also made more strict recently first time after 18 years... and each and every of those measures were introduced after fatal crashes. still there could be some questions raised to configuration of tires/barriers on Bahrain circuit.. but Grosjean is just so lucky to be alive!
@@mikhaillastname8719 Hopefully they learn from this and continue to advance barrier safety requirements.

Romain grosjean made the right decision to retire from F1 racing his health is more important than F1 racing. And for his family to have him home safe.romain gave all of us a lot of great moments in F1 racing I wish him and his family many great moments in the future. He is a great sports man.thanks to all the medical professionals that helped him to get out of the burning car that day.we are all very grateful to them.they saved him precious life.
Yes he jumped out of the cockpit of the flaming wreckage of an F1 car and into the cockpit of a potential championship winning Indycar . Quite a turnaround
When he stood up in those flames it gave me goosebumps on how badass that really was.
Still is racing and helping small teams get the edge on big guys.
Miracle that he wasn't torn apart, then the fact he escaped the inferno. Wow, very satisfying to see him alive . What was also wonderful is that a lot of the other drivers were asking and so concerned for the driver. F1 is a great competitive sport but a very respectful and caring sport as well👍
Used to remember back then when crashes just like this happened nobody walked away and if they ever did the injury would keep you out of the driver's seat. Glad see the research/improvements into making the cars safer being utilized.
Before this accident Romain had a lot of negatives spoken but in a show of Human compassion I have not seen any one bag him since. He is everyone's at least a favourite character if not a driver. But he is a man we all respect and are so glad he wasn't killed.
No matter how much i hate someone, I'll never wish for them to be dead.
We all have our faults. This man turned what many of us (who were watching) thought was going to be a tragedy into a moment of celebration for humanity. The number of people who went into creating this survival story is long and varied in the talents(and faults) they bring to the table.
He is the man who walked out of fire like its water or something.
I get goosebumps and tears in the same time when I see this.
That was a stunning raceday 😳
1:03 I love the "what the f*ck" reaction on the rescue guy
He was as surprised as we were
Tribute belongs to the brilliant engineers who designed these amazing cars and other safety features so well

Thank God. he is alive 🥺🥺
Absolutely epic inspiration. Thank you for posting this👍🏼 Also HATS off to the rescue team especially the guy who kept pushing himself towards the fire to try and get Grosjean out! Absolutely respect!
I think he had some minor burns 🔥 caused by the rescue...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
This video shows a major safety issue with F1 racing, perhaps including other types of car racing: The driver was saved, because he managed to save himself. If he was unconscious, he would have died. The personnel was trying to put out the fire with mobile fire extinguishers, but as you can see in the video, that was impossible. In my opinion, in every car racing, there should be at least two big fire trucks, in different positions, ready to put out any car fire. Not in countless minutes that could be fatal, but in seconds. We must also not forget Niki Lauda. If Grosjean would have burned alive, everything would have been speaking about this safety issue. Thankfully, this time didn't happen like this...
Something kept him awake, the headgear kept his neck in place, and his protection angels worked hard in those 28 seconds that on the other plane were days of battle against death.
True, the two marshalls and the medic could be died too if the car had exploded because it took a long time to stop the flames.
( Sorry my english guys i don't speak very well.)
The HANS device and the HALO and the safety tub all were crucial in saving his life. His training and mental toughness got him out of the fire. And yes, there should be better fire extinguishers for just such a situation
I have followed F1 on TV for nearly 50 years. I can say that safety has been hugely improved.
this is a testament to all the years of innovation, testing and implementation of safety equipment, to keep others alive. well done, well done.
I was watching the race that morning, with my heart in my throat I prayed he was ok, and finally he emerged from the fire.... God bless sir.
Yeah, I was watching and waiting for the bad news (when they would finally extinguish the fire) but he jumped out before I could give up on his rescue.
This make me feel way better thx for making this keep it up now i love f1 and im a fan (the medical first responders team was so fast and did a great job saving peoples live)
Thank you so much man! Your comment made my day!! Glad you liked the edit
Netflix, The only ones able to make 28 seconds into 3 minutes.
When you see a fiery crash like that, you want to see the driver pop out immediately. As the seconds tick by, hope fades as reality sets in. There comes a point where you know with certainty that racing has cost the life of another driver. Then... the impossible.
Literally coming from the flames 🔥
I will never forget my feelings when I saw this crash live on TV... Thank you FIA for the stability of these Racecars...
The tribute should be to absolute legends that come up with a safety system that allows a driver to survive an impact like that ,spend time in the burning wreckage ……. Then walk away !!!
Wow that's a tearful video to watch but tears of joy at the end.
Thank you! It's a beautiful tribute!
Thank you so much!
Geez I didn’t know he stayed 28sec in the fire must have been a tough experience

Fan of Romain since his F1 debut. Watched this live. This ranks as a moment in time, that you will remember as long as you live. A " What were you doing when the Twin Towers were hit," moment.
always getting goosebumps when I see the
crash. A miracle he survived with minor injuries
The look on all those people in the pits says every thing, and the reply to is he okay gives me shivers
Seen this many times, I can't believe he got out of there alive. Amazing.
It took him soo long to get out of that inferno because his massive balls of granite held him there. 🤜🤛
28 seconds is not that much, anyone can survive 28 seconds of fire with the suit. But as for the impact through the barrier is what amazes me
Is crazy to think that for eveyone, that time went so slow, painfully slow, as to think that was an eternity full of suffering and pain that roman felt in there, god bless that person and we hope to see him again in f1
This song matches with the situation perfectly.
Do you know song name ?
Hey, if you're reading this, sometimes I come back to watch this video because it is truly truly beautiful
A pièce of art you made, the music suits pefectly, good job ❤️
Thank you
Bless you man, your comment made my day! Thank you so much I'm glad you liked it !!
I don't understand the wheezing vocals like it's some awakening
I thought, that for sure, whatever driver that was, they were gone. Then they mentioned Grosjean's name and that put a face to who was in that fire. The seconds ticked by and nothing was happening. it was crazy. Then there was a shadow. A movement. Then there he was moving towards where the flames were not at. getting out. Coming back towards life and escape. Romain, I am so glad you survived this. Jules and Ayrton and all the people who refused to let up about making the cars and the tracks safer, thank you. To those safety marshalls. you are a special breed. Thank you for what you do every race.
This is just so absolutely amazing!!!!
The passion of the people that rushed to him ...wow
Thank you God 🙏
I get goosebumps every time I watch it.
man same, he's story about how he did it is amazing.
Him coming out of the fire is like the most iconic part, and death is a word on everyone's book, the day will come , but don't fear it.😷
Respect this hero and the people who saved him.
he was saved
Halo saved the Frenchman.
Some people are meant to do great things, this shows that it wasn't romans time to go just yet. #higherself
He smashed a lot of cars every year, and many of his "accidents" involved other teams' cars and drivers. A great sigh of relief when he quit F1. Glad he survived this one, and equally glad he moved on.
Also a tribute to all those who have passed due to crashes while racing. The safety equipment that resulted from those incidents... If this crash had happened before any of those the outcome likely would have been different.
Incredible. One of the craziest miracles I have witnessed.
i like how one of the guys helping got scared of him when he rises from fire
Goosebumps 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Without the both the HALO and the HANS device, Roman would've been left incapacitated and unable to rescue himself from the wreck.
I'm curious . . . who whould have that chance to escape a fire? Grosjean is probably the luckiest Formula fella I've ever seen, except myself . . .
MY LIFE : Me and my cousin were playing on the couch . . . however my skull hit the side of the couch and started bleeding . . . I broke down into tears after the AMMOUNT OF THE PAIN I've taken, just quickly put my hand on the place where I hit my skull and remove it slowly- praying to god not for blood. After I removed my hand I saw a WHOLE FRACTUREMENT OF BLOOD DRIPPING DOWN.
That long shot into the left side passenger seat of him briefly shown here, should have included his glance up at the person nearby. That glance was haunting knowing his comments now about almost resigning to death
I met this man at the INDYCAR race in St. Pete this year. Something stood between him and death which allowed this meeting. I cannot thank whatever and whoever that entity was. Unbelievable. THANK YOU!
Events like this are proof of the ongoing legacy of other drivers who sometimes paid the ultimate price. Each new safety rule and new technology is written in someone’s blood. Had Henry Surtees not had his horrible accident, the Halo would not have become a thing in F1. And the Halo is one of the things Grosjean would 100% not have survived without. The racing suit that prevented him from suffering agonising and possibly fatal burns to his entire body is the legacy of accidents of people like Niki Lauda. Or take the carbon fibre monocoque. It is amazing to see how far safety has come since the days of old, where drivers raced in the same clothes they would wear at the local pub, plus goggles and maybe a cloth cap. Which in retrospect seems absolutely bonkers.
Worst crash I've seen in the modern era by far. I simply could not believe it when Grosjean arose out of those flames. Absolutely incredible.
The fact his wife and kids watched this on live TV is scary. One of scariest crashes the sport has seen in a while, I was so glad when I saw him rise out of the flames.
He came out from that big ball of fire like a true super human
Salute for f1 engineering..
Fire man 🔥
These 28 seconds were probably so long for everyone who were looking at this, but you can't imagine how long they were for Romain
The guy literally is the phoenix
I saw him about a year later at an Indy race. I just stood and stared for about a minute, "I should be looking at a dead man right now", is all I could think.
Still blows me away.
This is a tribute to a man staying calm before the face of death, to remain steady and secure his exit!
He deserved to be in F1 for more 2 or 3 years!... long life Grojean!
Absolutely not. This was the best thing for him, to retire without dying
I have just witnessed a miracle on video! There is no rhyme or reason to how this man is alive. Unbelievable!
Well, this is proof that all those safety technology upgrades to the suits and car work... I mean, we got a crash with fire and the car just broke in half!... and the guy came out from the fire like a total boss... amazing... Cheers!
There have ben a lot of bad crashes in motorsports through the years.
This is right at the top of the worst I have seen, and yet due to the safety stuff that a lot of folks complain about he popped up and out of the fire after a guard rail piercing impact.
Absolutely nothing short of a miracle.
Halos, Hanns, Nomex, tear away suspensions all the stuff.
Glad he can live another day, walk another mile, let alone race again.
God has a purpose for him.
It should be a tribute to all who designed and built the safety aspects of the car and his personal safety gear.
People who say refuelling in F1 is too dangerous should watch this video over and over again.
literalmente O homem, a bravura de arranjar forças para sair dessa situação, é no mínimo plausível!!!
At this picture you can see, that sacrifice of all those drivers who died in all racers in history was not in vain. Those suits and clothes which nowadays drivers are wearing can really save lives.
Wow! So happy he is well..
INCROYABLE
'I believe in miracles' would be a good soundtrack to play when he emerges like a Phoenix.
