Ted.. Love that electrical tape deal..and pulling wires thru, you know after 30 years,im still learning something new daily! Thats the beauty of this industry! Appreciate your time sir,and your videos.. Bryan Tyler Refrigeration Helotes,Tx
Great video! for the capacitor straps I use my needle nose pointed up towards the lid and twist my wrist then pinch the slack down, fits like a glove after and can be undone if need be.
This is perfect. A rare video indeed. Most HVAC condenser fan motors end up being replaced with the RESCUE or universal designed types. I always wondered why this is so popular mainly because of the huge difference in motor bearings, the wiring and reversing wire cluster that comes with them as well as the shaft lengths. With an OEM...correct shaft, correct wires, correct bearings, correct HP and amps etc. I know its no major issue to move air through the coils but some HVAC folks aren't doing the job like a professional should since they leave the customer with parts that are less quality/spec than the parts they replaced. Another rare item in this video is using an American made capacitor and replacing the existing one with a new one, regardless if the esisting one is still good. This is the kind of job that all HVAC should learn from...use OEM motors and replace the capacitor with a new USA made capacitor at the same time if its possible. My guess on the availability of these OEM parts are because of the warehouse folks only opting to stock the cheap junk because the price is less so an OEM part is going to take longer to get. Totally wrong idea.
Good and easy fix. At least the customer did not have to pay the outrageous price for a Trane ECM motor!! Can not just change out a bad module on the condenser fan motor. However, that can be done for the evaporator fan motor.
Nice Job but I don’t know if you noticed but at 8:42 in the video you can hear the Second unit start up without the compressor and at 9:28 you can hear it running.
Nice job on the cap guess the other guy was too lazy I pretty much use a universal motor at work when you work on old Carrier units like I do ya have to improvise
Not sure you can answer this but: when they screwed in the fan to the cover, the wires were pinned between motor and cover for 2 of the screws. It seemed to put the fan off balance (small grinding sound when it starts that doesn’t 100 percent go away, but picks up rhythm). I questioned it as it didn’t seem right to me and he said that was the grounding wire. Does that sound right to you?
For your none HVAC experts whats the biggest difference between a Trane and Lennox system looking at an XC21 and an SLP98V but what in your opinion is equal in the Trane?
Had to cut out the taking the fan blade off due to how much you have to yell at it and call it names. Some of them are a real sob. And I don't have a fan puller.

I so enjoy following you!
You just can't stop a Trane !! Nice neighbourhood by the way I could quite happily live there....
Good little vid Ted ... And good tech tip as well ...
Hey, Ted, You were in my neighborhood Plantation Greene. Nice job.
New cap with new motor is the way I was told by an old friend who is an hvac tech.

Wow, a cooling video in October. Nice
I am sure there humidity does a job even in October! Always fun watching you do your thing! Very good work!
Nice job Ted, hate the Nest Tstat as well
The replacement motor must have been NOS. By the looks of the set screw mark on the shaft. Good one.
I have been known to use a piece of mulch as a vibration reducer in a pinch. Wedged up in the grill around the outdoor unit to make it quieter. 😏
I may have done that too but not going to admit it nor video it :-)

Good job
Can you apply oil to this Trane fan motor, I have the very same (XR13's) or are they fully sealed and cannot be lubricated?
Should warn people to discharge the capacitor. Has enough voltage to kill

Maybe put a clip for the tripod in the truck? 👍
Wonder if the run cap bandit did an amp draw on that fan motor...🤔
👍
I'm having fan problems mine quit turning yesterday I turned fan a little bit by hand it started back I say it won't work much longer?

AMRAD!!!!
Replace motor - no doubt
Looks like my mom’s street in Austin
I only do that with pressure treated wedges....
I work at a 640 unit property more than 40 a month would go bad nest stoped answering an sending replacements
Fernando Lopez why nest?

Didnt show how to swap out motor. Very vague.
Don't really need video of technician getting out of truck, trying to find front door. .
👍
