What does penetrating oil do? Does it do a better job at loosening rusted bolts and screws than WD-40? I have a 1987 Emerson window air conditioner I'm trying to restore, but someone used the hell out of it with the drain hole in, so go figure all the screws are hard to get out to remove the steel inner wall.

I have a newer model York unit model #DZNZ060N06506NXA. I replaced the fan motor but did not pay attention to where the fan blade was on the motor shaft. What is the distance the bottom of the fan blade to the motor? Where is the fan blade suppose to be in regards to the cowling? It still vibrates a little? How much vibration is there suppose to be if any? It's a roof top unit.
About an inch into the fan shroud and you will feel the air pushing up nicely. To low you will notice air being pushed out the top of the condenser coil. To high and the bade might not reject heat correctly
@@thehvachacker Thanks. It stopped vibrating. But now here's another issue. I noticed it last evening. The AC unit is not vibrating but is making a whoop whoop sound. It was making that whoop whoop sound before when it was vibrating. I inspected the fan blade and I couldn't find any cracks. It was replaced two years ago with a new motor by a HVAC service company. I was very careful not to disturb anything when I took it apart. This may sound crazy but the universal motor I got from Jonston has reversal wires sticking out that I tied up out of the way. Is that enough weight to offset the motor? It's not spinning but yet the only thing left is that and the fan blade. Should I take off the fan blade and run it? Maybe there's something else wrong with the AC unit? Maybe the fan blower motor or fan is going out? Luckily it's get cooler now but here in Phoenix but it is still around the 90's in the afternoon.
Agree 100% Fred. I had to use my 11/32” hollow shaft today on a fractional horse condenser motor on a Scotsman ice maker, I would not have completed the job without that tool...
I replace all the capacitors at 10 year intervals. They age and fail at high voltage and are responsible for 50% of no a/c service calls. Your 9volt meter can check MFD but can not simulate high voltage use. When a cap ages it can have tiny pock marks arcing through the plate membrane. Cap failures can cause rotor lock the fan or compressor which cooks the crap out of them. It’s a $15 part. I also date with a magic marker all replaced components. I will also secure the cap with strapping. In rare instances where it must stay loose, I use 3M 88 electrical tape (cold climate) 3M 33 otherwise so it won’t short against anything (as U.L. And the manufacturer intended). These 3M tapes are superior and when you remove the tape, these tapes don’t turn to goo, and come off easily and don’t saturate the conductors. You are moving cables about so I test each conductor screw to be sure it’s reasonably tight. This avoids what I call “crabby service calls” shortly after you worked on a unit call backs over something marginal. I find the 240/208-3P power conductor screws to need tightening on some units - which a bit shocking (ya ya, pun intended), yet seriously, these are issues that should not be left behind and the mark of best practices.
And so I'm guessing u spend atleast an hour and a half at each service call? I'm a real tech and i do check all important issues but that's all a bunch of crap and if u are taking that long ur just robbing ur customer in labor!
Actually wd-40 has been tested against many penetration oils and either does as good or better. Not sure who decided to give it a bad rap as a penetration oil but it works great!
People have no mercy, who wants to look through his fossil junk when its almost a 100*F up there. If he wants his junk done then he should schedule maintenance. Hate those "oh while you do this...." that tend to sometimes eat more time than the main job itself.

Which husky tools did I use in this video. I don’t have many husky tools yet my 3/8 swivel ratchet that’s 15 years old has been a trooper removing difficult spark plugs. I don’t really consider much of husky tools too add to my tool box.
That 1/4” ratchet is nice and old also. Think it is made in USA most the husky tools I own were made in the USA. I have a nice sk 1/4 ratchet. I have lots of ratchets. Yet the Milwaukee power ratchet steals all the work

You damn near became a "God" (please, no disrespect/blasphemy intended) the other week when that "customer presented a brewski". You need to establish your own "EPA Section 6⅞; "Feed the HVACR Tech a Beer, via Hypnosis" (or tip $20.00) training and certification. Tell the EPA that you've watched "The Manchurian Candidate", and "Telefon"; even better, sign all of the certificates "Bronson". Little old ladies, and homes with young kids are permitted lemonade. I got a $20.00 tip, a swim in their pool, and burgers, once, when a homeowner needed the A/C to help keep a summer birthday party cool, and told me to crash his party.
You had a spare nut on the old motor. They saved my ass many times from going to the truck.

It just gets between the rusted together parts. Wd-40 works. Penetrant oils are suppose to break through the rust faster. Yet not always the case

This motor as to be 30+ years old but yes these motors are running non stop

I searched for one in an old toolbox and found a hollow socket, a nut driver and a combination wrench.
How much do you charge for this?
Spray your sockets with the WD next time, the bolts may not get jammed inside of the socket as badly
