Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, the games we've had the most trouble with in hardcore nuzlockes... can the Ground type emerge victorious!?
We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Sapphire Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Ground types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

I have to say, this video made me Start reading the books. I have to ask tho. Why is the movie so bad. Not even the rasak don't look like in the describtion of the book AND THEY ARE ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS FIGHTERS BEFORE ERAGON.

Yeah, gen 3 is great for it's selection of available stuff and some of my favorites of all time are in there. Swampert, Camerupt, Metagross, Salamence, Cradily, Armaldo, Blaziken, Milotic
Gen 3 definitely the best overall

I absolutely love this naming theme. Eragon is such a rich world to explore with great characters and plot. I highly recommend reading the series
IC is what inspired my love for reading and writing. I'm starting on a book myself. Not sure when it will be published but it will be in the same genre
Absolutely loved that series. I loved how the fantasy theme was completely embraced without feeling overwhelming. And the power system felt perfect. The main villain had a good reason for being so powerful that obeyed the laws of the universe, and his defeat was just as consistent with the established rules.
Not to mention the whole war aspect was very well planned. It really felt like we were there planning the war with them.
10/10 book series. Would recommend to anyone

Loving the Inheritance cycle naming theme, its such a good series, enjoying the videos aswell
Video Idea: Hardcore Nuzlocke with only trade evolution mons. In this challenge, you are allowed to evolve all the Pokémon as it would be near impossible to only use middle evolutions. I think it would be cool to mix it up and do a Nuzlocke not relating to type. Your team could be really cool, Gengar, Golem, Machamp, etc.
Not that hard, Kadabra is quite good that it's pretty much a baby alakazam in lower tiers, same thing with Haunter, Graveler can be quite bulky with an eviolite, and machoke is still decent. Also if we also count all the item trade evolutions, Scyther is amazing as an attacker or as a bulky bug type, Rhydon is also amazing and can be a swap out for Graveler.
The worst ones would be Onyx, the gen 6 ones and Feebas.

@@jgmepgjlrmxcf2188 in gen5 to make feebas be able to evolve they made it so you need to trade it while also holding a prism scale (i think thats the name) to evolve into a Milotic.

Did the same challenge a few weeks ago, gotta say i just love the Mudkip Line for the Ground/Water double typing
A while ago, FlygonHG did one in Emerald. Took him four attempts, but he won. On the first attempt, he lost to May on Route 110 because he accidentally got too much Exp. Points against Roxanne so he missed out on Mud Shot and then he lost Basalt the Nincada to Brawly's Makuhita. In the second, Brawly defeated him because he accidentally got too high of a level on Marshtomp. In the third, he lost to Wallace because he accidentally got a crit on Wailord with Earthquake on Dwayne the Swampert.
Love this naming theme so much! The Inheritance cycle is so gooood. Though I have to say, wouldn't FĂrnen have been a better choice of a nickname for Flygon? Since he's green and all? đ

I love Sapphire, it was my first Pokemon I played. I still play it to this day and have so many runs/hours in this game! Every time s.o. makes a video about this game i just love to watch how other plays it! Love to see more of this gen/edition ;D
I swear, watching these videos of yours has made me a better pokemon player, also, one of the very first challenge runs I ever did (actually quite recently) was a ground-type run in OR. A very good video!
Your nuzlocke videos are easily my favourite . Long enough that it doesnât feel like you rushed what happened during the run, but also not so long that they feel like they drag on. Also your commentary is just really entertaining.

Mirage Tower in the desert counts as a new area. You couldâve used repels to get there, got Trapinch as your guaranteed encounter, then left and got Baltoy

To answer your comment about meteor falls, it's shown in the manga that it's open on the top of the falls, makes sense you can't see it from the entrance of the cave as the waterfalls (which are directly under the openings) are so far in.

In a playthrough run like this, I love Sandslash alot. It's mono typed; Gen-3 mechanics of before the physical/special split doesn't bother this pokemon at all; it evolves at low level; and my favorite aspect is> it can be taught Aerial Ace for some reason!!

Let me tell you, I tried a sapphire nuzlocke with only hoenn fighting types like blaziken medicham hariyama and breloom. It was really fun and I won the challenge.

I'm glad you're starting to use more trade evolutions. They're some of my favourite pokemon and also quite strong too. Always feels like a waste when i see Haunters, Kadabras, Machokes, Boldores, Gurrdurrs etc. in people's teams.
