Ground types are often quite powerful, but do have a lot of weakness, which poses a huge danger for nuzlockes... but we do have access to a cool variety of them in Pokemon White 2. Can we make the best of what we've got and use them to beat Pokemon White 2's hardest challenge?!

We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon White 2 Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Ground types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

A tip on Gligar for BW2 runs is, you can skip it. In the shaking grass on the same route you can get a Gliscor without needing to evolve it.
If you allow hidden grotto encounters in your nuzlockes, before the League (although I can't remember specifically which route), you can find a v rare Gligar with Immunity, which evolves into a Gliscor with Poison Heal

Love these type specific nuzlockes and really wanna try them. I’ve done a “friendlocke” in platinum where all Pokémon had to evolve through friendship. I’d love to see you try something like that in a gen 2, 5, or 6 game which I think would have a decent number of choices (like 4-9 lol)

tried this 2 weeks ago, it was crazy.
Krookodile, excadrill, seismitoad, stunfisk, claydol and flygon were my team and I was surprised how good they were.
Also krookodile learns outrage, definitely helps fighting iris
Outrage can confusion after awhile so other moves like Dragon Claw is better.
I’m doing an X Mono-Dark run and I can confirm Krookodile with Outrage is great

Always enjoy these runs. I think it would be fair and fun if instead of the first encounter, your starter is a typed pokemon not available in the game normally
Have you ever considered trying to do a monotype nuzlock with a randomizer? Maybe leaving the trainer battles standard and randomizing only your encounters. it would certainly be more luck based but I think it could be interesting and really challenging with the amount of on your feet thinking it would take

Love the video! Ground types were always my favourites. I'd suggest considering banning boosting moves, however. You're an expert player and know the games and mechanics extremely well - with wide varieties of Pokemon available in challanges as these you might be able to beat the game anyway ;) keep up the great content

Isnt the move reminder right before the flying gym? I thought you were gonna use it to get Thunder Fang on Steelix. He could have walled all of her team and used SE Thunder Fangs on her entire team.

Gen 4 was the real justice to the ground type. Gastrodon, gliscor, mamoswine, and garchomp alone are staples in their own rights if I have the opportunity to get any of those Pokémon it’s hard to pass one of them up.

I remember playing Pokemon Sapphire for the first time, catching Trapinch, evolving it into Vibrava, then putting it in the box. I never even considered checking the Pokedex if Vibrava evolves futher until I fought Drake, saw his Flygon, thought it looked like Vibrava, then realized it was its final stage in evolution. Lmao!

So for if you are using the universal Pokémon randomizer, you can actually just have a button on the first screen bottom right that says “change impossible evolutions” that makes the metal coat and hold and level up item

I've been working on my own hardcore nuzlocke of B2W2 challenge mode, but I'm not very good at nuzlocking and have only ever completed Emereald and Leaf Green successfully. I've wiped to Ghetsis twice and the tilt on the second wipe caused me to want to take a break. So it's insane to me that you're able to consistently defeat Ghetsis monotype. Sometimes because you're so good at the content side of things, it's easy to forget how actually good at the game you are.
