We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon White Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Bug types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Well according to my calculations, your right because people fear insects but I don't I touched a lanternfly yesterday and brought it home and even kissed it but not In a sus way.
I just realised this but: No Bug/Flying Types in Unova. That´s insane.

Bug type as a whole got a nice little buff in gen5 imo, was nice to see them finally get some love

Good boost to the roaster and the move pool with gen 4 helping a lot.
@@ttttillermand and Armaldo. And Forretress became fairly decent in Gen IV when it finally got access to moves like Bug Bite and Gyro Ball.
And right afterwards they added yet another type that resisted Bug, because we can't have nice things
Also the dark type. Unova was a blessing to those two types.
Ok I have to stick up for Minccino and Cinccino, I love those little guys. Yeah they're basic but they're cute and skill link is fun to mess with

The bug types in this generation are really good. I’m glad they made them powerful instead of the usual early encounter wimpy bug types that evolve into the final type quickly.
I still can’t believe Accelgor isn’t part Ghost type. It makes sense if you’ve ever read Escavalier’s Pokédex entry and the ghost typing would make it much better imo

I love all gen 5 bug types. Galvantula is my favorite overall Pokémon too, funny how it lives to the end

Silph I’m literally doing a bug nuzlocke on black 2, I love it. The encounters are amazing, some very strong bugs like leavanny, heracross, crustle and even volcorona 😁
Stealth rock against all the volt switches of the 4 gym would be broken, especially since two mons are flying type and lose a quarter of their health on a switch in
What a crazy and amazing run! You didn't even get to use some of the strongest Bugs like Volcarona, Heracross, and Scizor and still managed to pull it off! Hats off to you my man

I think it would be really cool to hear your opinions and who you thought really carried the team the most, most of all i love your videos! they’ve gotten me to start nuzlocking myself, and truly making play throughs amazing for me again 🙏🏻

Yeah Og B&W ghetsis is brutal ! N is no pushover either, but I remember actually having to reload a save after losing to Ghetsis on my very first try bec I understimated his Electross !
Gen 5 gave bugs a chance
Gen 7 gave bugs a railgun, a samurai, a bodybuilder, a supermodel, a ribbon with magic powers and an astronaut.

I did a Monotype Bug run of White 2 a little bit ago and it was a challenge but super fun! My team was Scolipede, Leavanny, Crustle, Escavalier, Galvantula & Volcarona and it was so fun using mons that I never used on a play through, I can confirm that Crustle was mvp so it sucks that yours got crit in this run ☹️
Next time you do a B/W run it would be really cool if you kept going to Cynthia like you do for Red in HG/SS.

I love it that the sole survivor on the run is my beloved Galvantula. Love to bring down the thunder with it whenever it's available
kinda sus how Sewaddle had chlorophyl and then Leavunny has swarm on the 4th gym...
I remember using Galvantula way back in the day when I first played Gen5. It has a surprising amount of options, too. Electro Web for the speed control, Volt Switch for clean switches, Electro Ball for higher damage since it has such good speed, and Thunder with pretty decent accuracy if you have Compound Eyes.

Black and White and BW2 are my most favorite games and I kept replaying them, the thought of replaying with all of these limitations make me want to crack open my 3ds and replay them again.
Have you done an eevee/evolution only challenge? That would be really interesting to see how difficult it would be with just eevee and it's evolutions
Depending on the game it's done in the challenge can be anything from nonexistent due to the type and coverage diversity to maybe easy difficulty. While most Eeveelutions aren't competitive level they definitely aren't slackers(apart from Flareon who was practically useless for a while as it had practically no access to physical moves and its special attack stat is mediocre at best)

Gen 1 would be rough, 4 would have good variety.

I'm a proud owner of tarantulas, leaf nymphs, praying mantis's and much more so I naturally love the bug type pokemons. Love seeing full bug runs! Great video as always.
Such a trully EPIC monotype challenge video especially how silph challenges himselef to think which is trullly unique amongst other poketubers out there 10/10!
It makes sense that Snorlax has low defense. Defense is basically the 'How effective the average punch is against me'. If you have a lot of armour, the average blow will not do much. However when you're really small, or agile the average punch will not be effective as you move out of the way only getting a glancing blow (or missing entirely) as evasion doesn't really work that way, the chances of missing a blissey is the same as missing a pidgey, the defense stat also covers that dexterity side of things. Whilst this isn't consistent (Pheramosa looks like it would be tough to land a good blow) I do think it's a bit easier to land a good punch on a Snorlax then a Sewaddle, even if you have to land a lot of them (HP is the how much punishment you can take)
I've always had fun with Cinccino! Skill Link + Tail Slap + Scope Lens/King's Rock? Awesome sauce.

I never liked or really used bug types ever in Pokémon games until this generation after getting killed by skyla over and over with my team of water, ground, ground, fire, poison. I needed an electric type and caught joltik and evolved it and loved it galvantula is my favorite bug type, especially for compound eyes thunder, I never saw thunder miss during my play through
I dont think rollout has to be used right after defense curl, you just have to use defense curl on any turn before using rollout (without switching out).

I absolutely love the Bugs in this generation. They are so much fun to use! Great run as always! I wonder though, because I didn't see it, but did Sheriff have Compoundeyes? If it did, that 100% accuracy Thunder is looking mighty fine (with a Wide Lens equipped). And 100% acc Charge Beam is also very cool (but I see why both Electroweb and Volt Switch are great too).

I would like to thank Silph for consistently proving how awesome the Bug type is! I vote a series- Bug Type Genlocke!
Ngl you got really lucky against that zebsrika, I did the calc and with max attack IVs and EVs you only had a 50%chance to kill from that range with leavanny and the IVs being max is extremely unlikely so the odds are actually lower.
In the vid you do say you kill with a swarm boosted bug bite, but when you caught it you said and showed it had chlorophyll so there was no swarm boost to help, just a really luck roll preventing a wipe.
The zebsrika also got the lowest roll possible for the flame charge as well so that luck is insane

Hey Silph, love the content and always look forward to seeing the next nuzlocke run go up! Just a quick question though, have you thought about doing any more of the true power series for some of the newer gen characters, I know some of them don't have quite as deep canon reach as the others did with their inclusions in multiple games/settings and across the anime/manga etc but I really enjoyed those videos and the true power tournaments too! Keep up the great work and thanks for all the effort you put in to the videos!

This is awesome. I love scolipede, I have him and ferrothorn as my tanking Pokémon mostly, with a haxorus as my damage dealer (if I can get one), and whatever else I get is dependent on the game.
The reason the bridge is nicknamed “Charizard Bridge” is because if you wait long enough, you can hear a faint charizard cry. It’s very distinct.

Hoo Boy! Those N and GHETSIS battles were amazingly close! Wish you could somehow battle Alder in post game as he is a bug type Champion and Quiver Dancing Volcarona would be quite threatful to deal with bug types. But this was amazing though.
Gen 5 was the gen that dared to ask "What if Bug types... didn't suck ass?"
Not only did that get great moves like Quiver Dance and Struggle Bug, AND gave us a few competitively viable lines to this day like Galvantula and Volcarona, but literally EVERY Gen 5 Bug type has an awesome design.
Cheers to Gen 5 for showing that Bug types are not only not to be slept on, they can easily be the team centerpiece.
What makes me sad about bug type runs in gen 5 is that we rarely see Volcarona :( love your videos mate! Keep it up.

The bug type is my favorite type, so I’m always in on a nuzlocke with em, especially in Unova, which are my favorite games
I love the 5G for his pokemon. Too many pokemon are cool. Too many team are possible for me to make.
And the Bug type in particulary have many combinations.
Bug Fire with Volcarona, Bug Grass with Leavanny, Bug Electric with Galvantula, Bug Poison with Scolipede, Pure Bug with Accelgor, Bug Steel with Escavalier, even Bug Rock with Crustle.
