Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, some of the Pokemon games I've spent the most time playing in the entire series... will that play duration come in handy with a poison only challenge!? Let's find out!
We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Diamond Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Poison types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Crobat as my main flying type on my pokemon gold run and it was a beautiful friendship still love Crobat.
Did a mono-flying run of Black 2 and Crobat was such a g the entire run.
36:11 so as it turns out after looking into it, in Diamond/Pearl Cynthia's Garchomp is always Timid nature. So it had 174 speed to your 171. Poor Matt.
It has max EVs as well, right?

I love the poison type. Some of my favorite pokemon like Drapion, Venasaur, Tentacruel and my favorite Roserade fall into this type.
Drapion and Roserade were my Dynamic Poison Duos when I played Platinum! *Love Those Amazing Pokemon!*

Gen 4 truly did wonders for the poison type, introducing some of its coolest with Roserade, Drapion and Skuntank - with the latter 2 also resisting Psychic. Loved this challenge, especially in this gen! :)

Paul’s (and technically Reggie’s) Drapion shown in the Sinnoh League in the anime is how Drapion became one of my top favorite Poison Types. I run Toxic Spikes on it all the time.

Wow I literally started a platinum poison hardcore nuzlocke today. I did change the starter to stunky because it’s dumb that it isn’t available in platinum.
Silph just gotta say you revived my love for Pokémon I used to have as a kid, it feels so good to be able to have a bunch of games to play again. Old games that have great memories attached to them but just with those extra challenges added to make the game worthwhile now as an adult!
Barry must believe you've only had a Crobat for nearly the entire duration of the game.
He's been training his team up just to take down your one Crobat,
and if he ever got close to K.O.ing it, he would find out that you actually have an entire team of 6 powerful Pokemon.
I like to think the tentacruel was named after me in this video… Great video Silph. Gave the video a like.
This video is amazing. I can't tell how how much I liked it. The poison type is very cool, and as a Nuzlocker myself, I think that Crobat, Skuntank, and Drapion are insane carries, Crobat helping with Skuntank's and Drapion's weakness, and Drapion and Skuntank being immune to Psychic. Roserade is really solid, and I think that it deserves more love. It is a really solid special attacker. Also, if you would like to try a harder challenge, try playing HeartGold or SoulSilver using only normal types. It should put up a great challenge! :D
Over 1000 hours in Pokemon Ultra Sun. And loved every moment of it. It had absolutely everything. Mega evolutions, super powerful Z moves, and pokemon with the absolute best abilities (Protean > Libero).
I always look forward to more of these videos, very relaxing but actually gets me on the edge of my seats without even realizing it sometimes and I love that.
14:00 if it's a noncombat Mon it should not be restricted to the rules. If the only thing it does is kill wild mons to gain said exp.

36:12 The reason your Tentacruel got outsped was because the Nature was likely Hasty or another speed-based Nature. Heck, even the Global Link event Garchomp distributed back then was randomized in terms of its natures, so maybe next time, plan around that possibility. Because a Garchomp with Hasty would put the Speed at 176, which is over Tentacruel's 171

Love the video, poison type is my personal favorite type; super diverse! During my run of gen 4 I ended up walking around for 50,000 steps after catching Zubat and Budew so they would evolve with friendship. Awesome content as always :)

Man, as a poison type lover since Gen 1, and feeling validated when Koga went from gym leader to Eltie 4, it's great to hear you get excited about the same pokemon I do. The type has definitely improved recently and I hope that trend continues!

Fun poke’ fact I learned a year ago, stat wise crobat is actually superior in every way to pidgeot the OG regional flying type. Pidgeot only matches in sp atk but they are both physical so it’s redundant

You really should try a Pokemon Insurgence nuzlocke, its so bloody hard to nuzlocke, especially on the higher difficulties with the gym leaders having competitively viable teams and strats to use. Id love to see how you do it!

I broke the game clock on my Emerald Cartridge. A feat that was definitely helped by the inclusion of a competitive-lite post game content with challenging opponents that provided 100s of extra hours of content yet somehow has never reappeared in any meaningful form in any Pokemon game since. And no I don't count battle tower and Battle Maison because those are basically half assed pieces of content in comparison to the range of content provided by the Battpe Frontier

I remember using a crobat in my platinum nuzlocke (I didn’t post it on CZcams because l don’t have any content) and the moment zubat evolved into a golbat it evolved again instantly only after one battle (must’ve been the steps) and yes it survived until the league (it does at the Cynthia battle don’t worry it didn’t die during any of the league members)
I used a crobat in Shinning pearl Nuzlocke and help out a ton in the league i legit cried when he died to cythina :(. funny enough her hardest mons was mitotic and garchomp but if didn't have him that garchomp would have murdered me. blizzard(Flostlass),crobat(psn), Play rough azumarril) I only had two survivors: Azumarril and Octtillary. Crobat will always be a legend to me and using one in arcues right now and will use on it either scarlet or velvet if it availby .
