Finally, someone that explains why the white wire on the unit gets moved over to the center white wire on a 4 wired plug! Thank you.
Appreciate this basic (CLEAR) step by step explanation. I'm terrified of electricity after being bitten a few times in the past. I had my wife stand a comfortable distance away, phone in hand, 9-1- dialed... just in case! It went great, no paramedics needed even after I tested it out... thank you!!
I was worried and confused what to do the the green and 2 white wires until I watched your video. Thank you so much for not over telling us how to do it. Simple and to the point!!!
One of the best, understandable, easy to execute do it yourself videos out there.
Thank You so much. Just moved into a new Custom Build Home and they gave us the 4 pronger when our existing dryer is a 3 prong. The Ground wire movement explanation was Epic. Great Job. Thanks! 😍
best explanation I have seen - helped me wire an electric water heater that only had 3 wires while outlet required 4 wires
Nice, the guy who delivered my dryer took the 4 prong off and told me to attach the white wire to the center lug. Glad I found this video as the instructions were unclear and Whirlpools video was not clear as well.
Bro you are the goat❤
Very clear and simple - you did a great job of helping me and not make it confusing or difficult! Thank you!
Really appreciated (at 6:45) when you said it didn't matter about the red or black connections. Thank you!
Great vid and explanations. To the point, no wasted story. Helped me tremendously.
Thanks - I just moved with washer / dryer. Moving always includes a handful of small electrical needs that we're uncomfortable handling - especially 240v. I mean 120v is an eye opener, but 240v will flat out kill you dead! You saved me 2 weeks of piled up laundry and at least $100 off my electrician bill with your clear, precise instruction that matched others.
Thanks for the clear and consise information. Good Job!
Thaaaaaaank you so very much. These are amazing simple instructions. I questioned the color of the wires versus the L1, L2 guide on the dryer and you cleared that right 🙂🙌🙌
Thanks this really helped me out keep making great appliance and furniture videos!
Thanks for an video that was easy to follow and ESPECIALLY for the hint about not dropping the screws…you likely saved me a service call.😊
What he didn't show is that you want to run those wires through the little round hole in the metal just below where the terminals get screwed in. The cord should come with a bracket that you mount into that round hole and it keeps tension from being applied to those three terminals if you were to pull the cord really hard.
That’s what I wanted to learn in this video… he dropped the ball in my opinion
That was a big and potentially dangerous omission.
Keith, great explanation on the two cord types and where they wires terminate. I also know this was for demonstration purposes only but you SKIPPED A VERY IMPORTANT STEP that I think should be shown. For your viewers, the cord MUST go through that hole you see below the connection point FIRST. There is a clamp that goes on the cord inside of that hole (the clamp comes with the cord when you purchase it) to keep it from being pulled on and not stress the wire connections inside the dryer where the wires terminated on the screws. If your viewers were to put the cover on as you show in the video, the cover would eventually cut through the insulation of the wires and become a VERY DANGEROUS situation. Safety first!
Hey so that’s exactly what I was just actually commenting as a question so I’m putting mine together right now I have the Samsung it’s a front loader it’s almost kind of like a coppery gray color and I’m having a VERY hard time trying to get them all through well enough without feeling like I am doing something wrong or straining the other wires? Is that ok if they have some tug and pull? I am finishing up right now to put my last green wire threw the hole and then screw it into it’s place but I still have about a half of an inch of colored wires hanging out of the hole it’s very hard to put all of them threw?? It’s almost as if they’re to long!! PLEASE HELP ME!
The
Thank you so much for the video it have answer my questions and was able to install the drier

Thanks for your help! New home owner fairly young and they forgot my screws for my power cord neglected to inform me and left. Thanks for teaching me how to get it done myself. 👍
Awesome job, this saved me a lot of money for like 3 minutes of work.
Thank you so much , very helpful
Thank you you've helped me out today stay safe everyone🧡
Yes, stay safe from 220 shocks. Otherwise you're toast.
Great Instruction. Thank you
This is the most informative thing I’ve seen on CZcams. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Keith, thank you. We just moved to a new house that we didn't realize had a 4 prong with the l-shaped prong and with your very easy and simple instructions, this was easy. I want worried about matching the ground wire as much as where it needed to go exactly. So thank you and have a Happy 4th of July.
This was very helpful 🙂 thanks!
My savior! Thank you!
Awesome brother wow help me out so much I feel like im in school.
Best video I've seen for this task . Thank you sir
Keith, I just wanted to thank you for helping me do this project! During this quarantine I have debated doing this because I didn't want to 1) blow up the house and have to call 911 and/or 2) electrocute myself while just trying to do laundry for my son and then having to call 911! I have been hang drying EVERYTHING for the past 3 months and it has been TERRIBLE!
Your video was informative enough to give me full confidence in doing this project... all the way down to the type of grounding screws you should use. Few things I appreciated:
1) The size and type of screw DOES matter. I couldn't understand why mine were not tightening and if you google it, google world tells you it does not matter - just tighten it. But that is not true! My particular dryer was initially not working. I received it for free after placing a want ad for a washer & dryer. Nervous about fixing it since it was an electrical issue, I almost did not attempt to fix it. After placing the quarter inch thread screw in, it worked again. You are a miracle worker!
2) Which side am I supposed to put down flat? I said to myself, "There must be a certain way to place the wires because otherwise both ends would be the same.. and they aren't. One end is fat, and the other is flat!" Then, how tight do you tighten them?! You answered immediately without thought.
3)I knew the middle was neutral but what was that random green and yellow wire (that was not connected when I received the dryer). All diagrams on the internet state a green and a white wire. Even the manual for this dryer is incorrect! It is a green and yellow wire - and if you have a 3 prong flat cord they are all the same color. I will not even repeat what the 100 other videos stated to do with the wires. I am so thankful the universe directed me to your video.
Long story short, THANK YOU for keeping us safe while keeping us busy by being so informative and hands-on. Who would have known when you were recording this a year ago that you would be SO BENEFICIAL to the world in such a short time. I can't believe there are only 29 comments below. I am astounded that you have something like 38,000 views, with so many positive thumbs, zero thumbs down, and only a couple THANK YOU's! If I could give you all of those subscriptions and likes to give you payment for this video, I would. I know it's not much, but, here are 38,0000 thank-you-so-much-for helping me comments, in one, to let you know how appreciated you are.. one for each person who forgot to let you know how thankful they were for your video.
Keep spreading your wealth of knowledge! You have kept many people all around the world safe through your videos. I hope you are blessed with happiness and good health!
Thank you!!! √38000= 194.93588689618

Thanks for the video. Perfect
great presentation, thanks, keep it coming
thank you fot explaining very well, you the man 👍🏼
Thanks for breaking this all the way down 👍🏻
Fantastic instruction!!!
My Whirlpool Cabrio has 3 nuts held even with the screw hole by a small tab. The screws actually screw into that not. Odd setup but definitely made that way. Thanks!! I was confused about having to ground the neutral wire a different way. Probably a 3 prong machine to a 4 prong setup. New sub. I have an original 3 prong setup so I guess I'm good to go.
Best video out there on this subject
Thank you! :) Glad it could help!
Thank you buddy for the video helped me out a lot 🎉😂😅
Thank you
You are awesome 💪
very very nice detailed and professonal. best of the best
Thank you very much for tutorial. It worked! Now i can do some laundry 🧺
Glad we could help!
Love it, you're great at presentation and speaking. You literally pointed to the dryer to show it gave instructions and I looked up and saw them 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks
Thanks!! You helped me so much!!! I am definitely having a little trouble getting all my wires through the hole though. Why is that? I’m so nervous I’m going to break something 😦
Thanks!
I noticed you did not put the neutral white wire back with the green ground wiree. Why not? Isn't that unsafe? Can't that cause a spark or fire
I be damn you helped me out a ton today I was going to return this dryer! Now I’m not
thank you for your awesome video!! Very informative appreciate ya

Help!! My internal ground wire is green! There are no white wires coming from my dryer..... is that right?! Do I take the green one from the dryer and remove it and attach it with my middle white wire from the cord?
I did not. I connected the green to the green ground wire and put the white on white
Thank you sr !!!!!
Awesome guy!!!
You bet!
Thanks you Keith
No Problem!
@@Appliancefactoryout i have the 4 prong one
Yes Thankyou very much worked great except my screw for ground didnt get very taught should I get new ground screw? Let me know please.
That was helpful thanks
Glad it helped!
We did exactly what was explained. Thanks a bunch. The drum is
turning, but no heat at all (not drying the clothes) do you have a
suggestion?
Dude should just do one at a time. All over the map. Mmmm kay.
Thank you! Now I know where I screwed up today!
Does it matter which neutral connects together, in front or back? Is there an order of placing them together?
I told my dad about the 4 wiring way, and he insisted it didn't matter, he ended up connecting the metal neutral wire with the ground wire, and the others stayed on their terminals (black, white, red), and the outside screw has the green and neutral wire, dryer works, for now lol
Can I use a 40 amp range cord for my new LG dryer? No L shape in our dryer receptacle.
How do you connect dryer 4 prong to a OTR. You also for got to tell them to not drop the screws. Magnet quarter nut.
I have a 3 prong dryer cord. I installed everything according to the three prong wire cord guide. The dryer did not produce any heat. I then combined the internal ground wire with the neutral power supply wire and the dryer is now producing heat. Is this okay/safe to run like this? Explanations on why the first setup didn’t work for me?
So my dryer the cord broke inside the dryer has plastic plug and the replacement cord has no eyelets on the end is it safe to use merits on it
I am going to a four prong and my dryer is a little different. The middle leg of my Amana dryer is coded for white and green and there is no white grounding cable. There are two green cables attached to the frame inside the wiring box (coming from somewhere up above) but they do not seem relevant to the situation. Would I just attach both the green and white wires to the same leg with one screw?
Sooooo..... What your saying is I need to pay the guys from Home Depot the extra fifty bucks to hook my new dryer up caaauuuse........electricity is terrifying? Right. 😂 great video!!
What if my machine ground wire is green do I still move it to neutral ? Or put both greens where ground is
Great video unfortunately I still a little scared to do it on my own and I have no one else to help me. Ugh decisions decisions
Is it the same for a Range
Hi I’m connecting a 4 prong to my dryer. When I opened it up there is a white cord and another green/yellow cord. How do I connect it? Thanks my dryer is a kenmore. I followed the directions that is posted on the dryer. But I forgot which wire whether it’s the white or yellow/green connected to the ground.
does anyone know what size are the screws for the dryer cord that attaches to the dryer?
Can I use a 3 wire cord on a dryer built for a 4 wire cord? I have a house with a 3 prong outlet and trying to install a new dryer.
So we need a 3 phase power supply for this?
There is a spare on the side that’s convenient!
What if my neutral has a gold bridge that can lead to the outside of the dryer? Do I put green on white in the middle?
Did you ever get this answered
How can I convert my dryer from a 220v to a 110v? Thanks
